  1. Probably not the minifigs, the ostrich race does not contain chinese parts. Alamut does list china, but it's hard to say which parts... Camels and long poles perhaps, similar to the cows in MMV these are in separate bags or just in the box. I had bad luck with Battle for the dagger and are counting to 12 different cracked parts so I don't think china is a problem at all, but the change of material and coloring technique that seems to make the parts more brittle. I'll continue to reclaim parts from support so TLG know they have a long term quality problem...
  2. Nice to see variations of the modular city house, though I doubt TLG would consider replacing one wall module to 70-ish odd bricks :) I would put plants under the side windows and move out the middle window by 1/2 a stud by using 1x2 spacer tiles. Here is my take on this type of building:
  3. Or too many fat-nosed airplanes I see. I dare you to build a container out of airplane-noses.

    [MOC] Clock Tower

PaB has 1x5x4 bow and 1x5x4 inverted bow in Dark Bluish Grey, maybe something to pick up on the next order?
  5. A real engine inside is really great. Perhaps the front could be made more interesting, you have one of the yellow 'carfronts' on the top of the haul...
  6. This is a nice little set, maybe not worth it for the list price but it's easy to imagine what you get, and you can't really argue that it should be any bigger except for the attic which I always try to raise 1 brick if I can. The only problem is that TLG don't make enough of sets like this. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be easy to find at a bargain. This set is not listed on lego.com any more, is out of stock at amazon.fr where I bought it for €32 and it never even got to sweden in the first place.
  7. Is that a parking fine? I can't judge from her smile... Thanks for ideas for my spare city corner.
  8. Hi everyone, Here is the script you requested - you can paste the output from the script in the post after this one and add the bricks to the PaB shoppingcart. (paste another model and add again to compile a larger order, no undo/substract implemented though) Another use is to show the PaB shoppingcart as a list that you can cut and paste into a texteditor for later use. Install greasemonkey into your firefox browser, click on the link below and restrict the script to 'http://shop.lego.com/pab/PabPage.aspx' Greasemonkey PaB Script You will see a small box in the upper left corner of the PaB page if installed correctly. ToDo for someone else: SuperKalle may compare the input format to his LDD-manager, maybe bricklink id' and cleartext name of the brick can be included... Hobbles might try to add the jQuery code on the PaB page to parse lxfml directly if needed - they do include some jQuery but it just didn't work for me when I tried. Oh, and we might start a new topic with some searchable tags once you think it is fit for everyone.

    [MOC] Nissan iV

Nice, could even fit one or two of the 4x2 solarcell (stickered) tiles from the city house I helped build today.
  10. It can't be hard to build a city bus from the coach, even using the city corner instructions. All you get is spare parts and spare boxes. The only thing that should hold you back then is the price...
  11. Now I know what to do with the extra city corner set and bus window, once you have that truck design it is probably only two bows and cheese piece from a moc. Nice new truck design though, for the cars the car chase is okayish but the Cars theme seem to have parts for cool new small cars.
  12. I didn't find a review of this set but my 3 year old just rebuilt the helicopter to the plane. The color variation and slightly larger parts will at make it pedagogic and a bit more stable. It is very odd that you can fit in much more bits (leaving less than 10) and getting a slightly longer plane fitting a minifigure with post bags. It makes you think the designer didn't care very much. You only need two technic rod to pin parts to fit the helicopter turbines to a dual propeller plane. Then I got picky and fitted all parts but four, you need to remove the side windows to fit a minifig. lxf
  13. I can't agree more, if money was no object public transport station with three or four city houses is just unbeatable, but just one set with a budget will make any of those expensive and unbalanced. The repair truck is very pedagogic and nice if put in a city, though maybe the 2010 release explains the price which I couldn't get down more than 10%. In the end I vote for the 7848 TrU's truck * Complete set with building and truck for great playability * Useful parts made me rebuild it to other designs * at $25 it's almost 50% off list price, so 'special edition' also means that the special stores can set the price at will come holiday season ... (I hope this is valid for the 2011 bank set aswell)
  14. Personally I think this is the future of farm: I managed to fit it into the smallest tractor in LDD to get 1:1 power for accessories. I don't think you need much imagination to rebuild some of the smaller technic boxes into farm equipment that use this, but it's a shame TLG didn't standardize it and presented alternative models. Ideas? Personally I'd order a bunch if I had even one farm set, but there is so much to get...
  15. New: 7990 Cement Mixer - Theme: City (Transport) lxf-file: No missing or misprinted pieces. Errors: The red part fits behind the front but is illegally placed for LDD. The gear in 'conical wheel block 4x4' did not fit inside the 4x2 plate with holes (two other parts on top were rotated, not a problem in LDD which is stable anyway) The two blue tiles below the mixer did not fit, neither did the two blue rests at the back which were moved 1 stud. Either the mixer has boundary problems or there is a magic angle between 70.9 and 71 degrees that works.
  16. That is typical for DACTA, more balanced and politically correct - but also pretty generic and overpriced if you pay the same price for impulse sets you will probably get more extra stuff and if you pay for collectible figures they are at least unique. I bought some spares from a DACTA DUPLO setand that one is better - 50% female and 50% children across four families of different nationalities, black, indian, south american and pale blond. Perfect for either a scool or to populate four houses....
  17. Great set but you only get what's on the box. Nothing extra: A tiny extra piece, No bike lights, No windsurfing gear, Useless grill, No trailer connection, all at full price. Also, when 2'nd series minifigs was available I did not have this and didn't get the real surfer and baywatch girl in time... All in all, great set but playability grows exponentially when you add the other things I don't have.
  18. Hmm, The hillside house seems to be an expensive way to get the red roof and white basic bricks, minifig or not. The harbour is too big, but the marina and beacon are a nice combination. The bank is the best set this year. I'd rather build on the old parts of town this year with the medieval windmill and perhaps some Pirates of the Carribean set. I just got the MMW so I guess I'll have long looks at the harry potter town all year long aswell. The cars 'classic mater' should be in pretty small scale - then it seems to reveal a new more streamlined mudguard for small scale cars, since it has a hollow 90 degree stud at the end it will be great for SNOT work and 5-wide constructions. Other than that the goats and chickens are what farm fans dream of, and most farms has some historic buildings anyway.
  19. I hope they take into account the €/$ shift in value since last years prices, otherwize it will be priced as city corner... Then I think I can wait until a sale, which happens a lot to the store exclusive sets eventually.
  20. I like all styles when they are executed in a good way. I wonder how this could turn out if you use the 6x5 white walls sections and large plate tiles from PaB / Designbyme.
  21. I searched for this thread but couldn't find it, but it has been successfull in predicting things such as 'city corner' so I like it. I wish for TLG to focus more on expansion and combinations than big closed sets. Let the ambulance come with the emergency drive-in which fits with the hospital and let the pediatrist room be a impulse set... OK I guess the policecar needs a policecar and a policecar to go with the police truck, but the bank is a good way to link the police theme to the otherwize unrelated city so I also hope that some licenced themes brings buildings that connects to standard city in scale. Combinations could also go within sets to buy two of the same to build alternative models (to box frontsides) or build a mall since you don't know exactly what the collectible shop will sell and they fit together anyway. Or just collectible colors and slight variations of the standard car pack.
  22. The Town truck brick blog has a truck like this and other truck inspiration. This one is most common around here with a tanker truck instead of tractor unit. I guess the a trailer with front wheels can just aswell be dragged by the original tanker/trailer combination making it 6 long, but that may not be a legal combination. Look at your other parts and see if you can do a 3221 style truck with hood instead.
  23. I like the idea of openback buildings with stackable floors, you can always put them back to back. The only problem I have is the lack of variety so I'll try to mock something up, It's really a challenge to approach 3 floors + roof and not get into modular territory. 7993 is the only city set that I can think of that dont have a front and back side for ages, I think you chose the wrong set to complain about. Back to the 2011 sets the police chase uses this new part only indexed in another 2011 atlantis set: I'm not sure about the rationale here a 2x1 bow or a 4x1 bow with wheel cutouts to fit minifig scale would have made more sense to me than a cheezier cheeze piece.
  24. You can do that excercise - put the windows on bricks then put the 2x1 stepper bricks on top and bridge the 5 stud gap by putting a 1x6 plate centered using it's intermediate pins... It's the same bug over again, but becomes much harder when you have two rotated bases on one stiff brick.
  25. Maybe not, but brickset had this set on the frontpage: Ole Kirk's house I also found a review of the build! On top they use the interstud hole in a wing plate (I'll use that somewhere) The whole base of the building is offset 0.5 studs in both directions so they don't need to use the 2x2 offset plate and just need a plate rotated on a single stud.
