  1. Inspired by the 'dangerous layout' I made this with the four points I have. Perhaps its not much more advance than two turnbacks connected, but the extra interconnections might enjoy the kids - or if you make an unstable configuration you could get it enjoyable by operating one of the outer switches... This takes 33 straight, 27 curve, 4 points and some flex according to BlueBrick. That means 1 Cargo Train, 1 Passenger, 3 straight & flex and 1 pack of points (substituting 1 of the straight for flex) I only have 2 straight & flex packs and the constitution so I would need to slim down or get about 5 straights worth from flex,...
  2. I'm in the same boat. http://www.brickpile.com/track-layout-geometry/ discuss a bit why it is so impossible to do a compact design with lego tracks and has some usable example in the comments. BlueBrick: http://bluebrick.lswproject.com/ seems to be the best program to do layouts in. Starting out with one piece you can just push 'S', 'L', 'R', 'F' and have the track lay out itself. I find it hard to do any layout that would close up on itself with standard tracks so you will either need some flex track or stick to the bulky modules based on multiple 48 stud plates.
  3. I recently got a pair of the enlighten 638 steam engines and also the 624 deluxe wagon to add to the Constitution train. The wagons were nice but the steam engine has more useful parts, mostly because it was based on a Lego "my own train" model. The printed parts are nice and there are some special molds such as the double doors and the small wheel that fits on a stud up front. I partly got it to get more wheels and wagon bases for rolling stock and I could even stretch to using some of the parts without studs, such as the curved roof bricks, together with Lego. Regarding clutching power it is good for any build but won't stretch to SNOT builds adding large bits hanging on only a few studs. However the single technics bar and the chimney (also crossbar technics hole) have terrible fit compared to lego. But why not have the cake and eat it. I built a smaller locomotive based on the Lego 3740 instructions: http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=3740-1 (start from page 15 for the second model) and got parts left for future wagon projects... There are some decisions to be made while building - but if you just wanted the wagon base you can't go wrong with an extra engine.
  4. Got a pair of enlighten deluxe cars inspired by this thread. I havent yet built the constitution but I Don't think they are out of proportions to even the ghost train engine, its only one or two plates lower. Your design would work great with most parts from the enlighten set, adding the 4 24 stud bricks and two doors and you are almost done getting a slightly shorter car. Unfortunately there are no 1x1 green or tan bricks so you need to finidh it off in lego colors.
  5. The passenger/freighter has had a very long shelf life, lego must introduce PF somehow but I wonder if they can push two sets to resalers given the long turnaround. I guess a locomotive plus passenger wagon and a multi-purpose service wagon, maybe a smaller filler - just to get PF motor and track on the market. But for a modern look they could make a two-car motorized passenger train as all trains this side of the century, still some extras to avoid the freighter this year. There are Historic (constitution), Rapid (horizon) and US freight (mersk) trains on the market, (not to mention the ghost train) And special sets from lego.com such as a winter village addition can probably give some variety to those in this forum that can pay, Lets hope that they try to keep as many current trains on the market in the future, then they have to find some exuse to add one in city or some other theme ( I suspect that there won't be another easy movie license in the near future ...)
  6. Nicely done, I really like the rounded panel at the entrance :) Now make the back fold up for a luggage compartement and add a bunch of eager skiiers and add it to the winter village competition...
  7. Friends to Harbour... Maybe the boat hulls can be made into ovensafe muffin forms the next time around.
  8. You should have made a separate thread about the steinwinter, it brings the focus from the other excellent mocs. Anyway, it seems like a very stupid idea, but when pictured carrying a normal container on top (images) it seems like it is more of a normal car just compressed under the weight of its cargo. Maybe a modern version can decompress when you un-load it ;)
  9. Helm's battle and the Uruk-hai battlepack adds upp to some larger castle building, lets hope for more such small castle-parts and towers, maybe one for each theme update. This years winter exclusive must be some great building of isengard. Last I'd like a medium set with parts of Rivendel, perhaps a sandgreen roof, with rare slender dark red and tan wall structures. Something that will add up to great MOCs if you add together 4 or more sets.
  10. Maybe TLG created the theme for all parents in the current Austrailia mining boom :)
  11. Nice to have a theme, typical danish to me is plain white or even yellow houses with 45´ red roof with no overhang at all. So the country is made for lego (or the reverse probably) just dragging the google maps guy around and enabling the pictures on the map will give you a good idea.
  12. To get some variation you can use the available bricks (and standard extra clear cheese) for something like this AFOLEGODT headlights. Just switch the corner slopes with the mirrors, and switch around mirror slopes with headlight slopes.
  13. Built the same police van yesterday, but I never would have guessed that the crook could be reformed.
  14. Thanks, I liked the café (66) in the girly theme. They also seem to use some 'creator' built robots and lawnmovers and build a boombox instead of using the collectible series one.
  15. I've been eyeing the jugend facades in my home town and I like the way the arched window with assymetrical frames look in lego. PS. Can't you just look at some starwar sets for roof/wing parts.

    Car 60's

Here's some inspiration: I built with the whole front slanted, which was hard to connect to the back part, but it seems that just using a hinge builds too much on the height.

    Car 60's

I'd use that front but put a pair of bricks beneath the back wheel to it a better slant, then you will of course need to rework the back part, but it is looks like a nice curve to start with.
  18. There already is such a theme, creator, and the forest hut would fit great with that battlepack of woodcutters or whatever. Since the beacon matched the marina we can only hope that there are future creator sets that lines up with something in the city line. So, lets hope for a deserted creator house in red and white with optional ambulance vehicle and medical crew add-on. I don't fully belive this, but it would not hurt TLG to have a creator set ship with secondary instructions for a hospital that happened to be pictured with other available models on the box...
  19. Vehicles are great. Past years we have seen a helicopter, a boat and a house (city/bank) as limited productions, so given early rumors there is still hope for a nice set of sets. The amount of sets needed to launch a girly theme is intimidating so I hope they are full of nice parts and ideas and goes on sale quickly :P There is also the joker in licenced themes which could aswell be contemporary, but even better a 100 years something past.
  20. Nice, If you pay full price for a pair of genuine lego ships I think they deserve getting a genuine pirated ship to blast to smithereens. Too bad pirated does not acually mean really cheap, somehow you still get what you pay for.

    WIP : Venice

Venice is naturally small scale and should fit a lego moc. Yours is not a residence but maybe a traders magasine. But that only means you can do some luxury house later. Personally I like the backstreet decay where the houses has a lot of texture from centuries of negligence. Did you have a tour in person already? Also I suggest a small chapel in the fashion of the sienna dome with almost zebra-like black and white facade...
  22. I have updated the script: Greasemonkey PaB Script Lego changed the url of the shop. The only change is that the script should now be restricted to 'http://customization.lego.com/*' I'm not sure if greasemonkey has been updated aswell, if that is the case you need to change the line in the script from shop.lego.com/... to the url mentioned above.
  23. Try with yellow side grills to get the trademark coloring scheme. Perhaps even yellow tiles.
  24. I like the blurry interiors, if you just had one minifig using the furniture in focus it will give a great focusing effect with the rest of the room just adding to the atmosphere.
