[PORSCHE] Porsche 919 Hybrid
took9 replied to Charbel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The rear wheel house looks great. Even without stickers it looks fantastic. For me Charbel's Porsche 919 is one of the most beautiful technic builds here.- 69 replies

I finished Anio's UCS Venator a few month ago with some changes:
-
This series is limited with 37000 displays (each with 60 minifigs). So there are only about 120.000 full sets in production, which is not very much. Thats why the market-price is higher compared to other CMF-Sets. You can buy the minifigures from Saturday in some shops in germany , but i've heard they are already sold out in many shops. So all what we can do now is to wait and see what will happen on Saturday...
-
Painting them was impossible, even with primer. But you can copy or improve my solution:
-
You can find also some finished black versions of the UCS-Shuttle. They are around 300$. I think white and black are the best colours. The main problem of the shuttle with it's glare are scratches, that's why i didn't bricklinked it so far.

I lhink this moc is perfekt for the 75098: https://www.flickr.com/browser/upgrade/?continue=/photos/righty/6984905986 There are more pictures with AT-AT and Snowspeeder in this album.

For a kid it's just a playset. For an creative adult it's a beginning of a huge diorama for the lonely Millenium Falcon or/and AT-AT.

Collecting Star Wars minifigs: how did you start?
took9 replied to aabdguy87's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Take care of the fakes on ebay. You can get a fake from almost eyery minifig (and set) from Ep.VII, there are also fakes from white Boba Fett... -
New to star wars minifigure collection - Any help / beginner tips?
took9 replied to Marshgray's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The minifigurepriceguard can help to compare the price and style of the minifigs: http://www.minifigpr...STARWARS.0.html Some minifigs are really a kind of art, they have a nice plain expression. Unfortunately these are always the most expensive and older ones. Under $20 I can recommend the old T-16 pilot, Luke Dagobah, old Boba Fett and Darth Vaders Apprentice. And it is also important to know that there will be a lot of fake sw minifigs (latest ones) in future.- 18 replies

Gold/Chrome LEGO Snowtrooper + Re-done UCS Naboo starfighter
took9 replied to _Samibotss_'s topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think the Naboo is one of the best UCS Ships. But the shiny parts have to be chromed, gold chromed, not sprayed. I think there are some shops who offer rhe service: chromebricks or you can find Anio's solution with his fully chromed ships: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=69102 You can buy the sticker-set at ebay in excellent quality for 10€. -
This is a smart and systematically mod. I like also the area of the front wheel. Titan coloured parts is all we need now :). Thanks for sharing.

The last Venator was sold for 1250€ approx. 4 months ago (not buy now). So the price is higher than a rebricked MF or used Star Destroyer, because it's rare. So i think it's at least a rebrick without losing money when I have to sell it sometimes.

2003 was the best Lego year so far, the timeless-set's are: Lego 4502 (Dagobah): best Lego-Minifigure (Luke Dagobah+Yoda backpacking), i like retro style of the X-Wing Lego 10123 (Cloud City): best Minifigure-Set (Boba Fett, Lando) - like also Luke's old yellow face (kind of art) 2013: 10236 (Ewok Village): most beautiful set so far

Selena (Kai Play Arts) fits best so far:

[MOD] UCS Slave 1 (anti-droop/bend when on stand)
took9 replied to ArchieNov's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I wonder, that there ist no software full of all these plastic parameters which can examine these gravity effects (bending) after months and years. Because Lego is famous for its long life (or a life period) material and spend a lot of money in material development. -
I think the bending problem with many UCS-Sets can be fixed in alomosr all cases. The hanging nose of the 10030 was about 1cm from the moment when the model was finished. Ok, i had to spent about 50€ to get a stable Star Destroyer. But in this case I think this can't be fixed. I just bought the UCS TIE and I think have exclude the stand --- every half year :)

75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion
took9 replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Licensed
This would only happen if TLG finished it, add 800pc and sell it for 420€ and limit it at 10000 boxes like the Falcon. This set is maybe historical, because it will mark the end for the enthusiasm amateur desighers at lego ideas. They made the whole Ghostbusters line possible. Thanks to them -

75827 Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters Discussion
took9 replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm not a Ghostbusters fan and I can hardly remember the movie. So I can only refer to the sources I red (Swiss Ghostbusters HP): "The big kitchen, pool table on the 3th and not 2th floor as in the movie, Egon’s Lab also on the 3th floor, containment-unit places etc. – all that is not placed in this form in the movies and can therefore only be fictionally built...." For me it's hard to believe... -

took9 replied to kelceycoe's topic in LEGO Licensed
In this case it seemed to be a mod of the Swiss Ghostbusters Set. While it has the same style, 3 levels, etc. the biggest difference is the colour. Allmost all people I asked prefer the Swiss Ghosbusters colours inside&outside. So it's a bit dissapointing to get these colours, but I think they might be cheaper to produce even for TLG. But finally you get a quite similar set for a half price without spending much time in ordering via Bricklink... -
I like the Endtime style and colour sheme. Maybe a bit too much vignetting for me, not necessarry for great art imo.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
took9 replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm also a collector of old Star Wars Minifigs. I think if you wanted to be shure of an original City Cloud Boba Fett, then you have to buy the whole set - about 600€... The quality of some custom printed Boba Fett's is excellent or better imo than the original. I bought a slice printed one for 25€ last month, and I was not dissapointed. I paid about 1500€ for the Minifigs last two month, I think the original is not worth 250€ for a risky investment. -
Death Star II - The most frustrating set to date
took9 replied to neoconagenda's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I saw a picture of the 10143 hanging from the ceiling. I have no problem to carry the Death Star II for about 50 meters. It's heavy, but it's stable enough. -
It's an excellent building. But i don't like the theme "bank". Maybe it's good for explaining your children the former funktion of a bank. In the area were I come from there are no banks anymore - and they are not needed anymore...

I rebricked the Bat-Pod last week: Original: Mod: Some changes are difficult to see: new lights, give it a round shape in the middle, steering area is wider, some changes in the front area to Dark Pearl Gray, some new flexible pipes, and some colour changes from light bluish gray to black. Any other ideas are welcome...
