The cargo pod is really easy to change around, since that's just stuck onto a bracket right now. Flipping the studs up is trivial. Do you mean it should be shorter vertically or lengthwise? (Really it should be both, but by less than one stud in both dimensions, and I was thinking this looked more in proportion to the cockpit and engines). So we can easily jump to something like the image here, or put the brackets in the middle of the cargo pod itself to flip the orientation midway through (kinda like I have with the Wayfarer-class, for example), but I'm not sure that buys us much in terms of the stripe. Basically no useful wedges are available in dark orange, unfortunately, so the color options are limited. Which is true for almost every ship at this scale that isn't just Imperial grey anyway, though, to be honest--almost all the ships I've made have had to have color schemes that convey the impression of the original as best as possible rather than ones that're literally accurate to specific patterns.

So this is roughly what that ends up looking like, plus a cutaway view so you can see how it's put together. It's a chonker for sure, but not *that* much more than the original ship is, and the shape is definitely way better than the first pass version. The back end still needs a bit more work, and I may poke at the cockpit end and the bottom engine (/weapon?) pylon more too, so I'm not calling this 'finished' quite yet, but I think this is basically what it's going to look like. It's unfortunate that the colors can't match a little closer, since the combination of lighter green and brighter orange makes this look a bit more garish than the original, but there's not much to be done about that. I think we've done a good job of capturing the overall spirit of the thing, anyway, which is really the important part.

Oooh, yessss. This is exactly the kind of feedback I want to come back to. That's what it needs to look like. I'll credit you on the Rebrickable page when this gets published. The back end of the model is going to have to be a bit ugly, I think, because a) the hinge connection to the top slope bit means it isn't an integer stud distance and b) the 6x2 wedge extends a little bit farther to the bottom rear than the actual hull plate does (a 5x2 wedge might work better, if one existed, but alas). I'm going to put a bracket or something there to smooth it out a bit, but that section won't quite match the ship. But given the scale, I think we're looking pretty solid overall. EDIT: Also, if you or anybody else reading this ever wants to play around with any of this WIP stuff, I'm happy to post the Stud.io files directly so you don't have to try to recreate them. Obviously you get full access to them when I publish the model anyway, but if you've got an idea and don't want to wait to see how it looks, all you have to do is ask. :) First pass on the XS Stock Light Freighter. This is a much simpler ship shape-wise than the Mantis, so it's a pretty straightforward build. This is one where the proportions don't work out very cleanly at this scale; the cockpit and cargo modules both really ought to be about 1.5 studs wide and tall, so they're a bit oversized here, but the ship is definitely still recognizable, so I'm not too worried about it. The diagonal stripe on the cargo section is supposed to mimic the stripe there on the actual ship, but it looks terrible like that, so that's almost certainly not going to be the final coloration I go with.

I was way off. There's nowhere near enough room to do it like that, not by a factor of about 4. I'd been under the impression that all the player ships were about the same size, but this one's apparently about 20% smaller than the others, so there isn't really room to do much of anything tricky. This is my very very rough first pass (images in the spoiler, since they're large)--I'm not committing to this at all, but this is what I'm looking at at the moment. It's tragic that that 2x6 wedge plate isn't available in dark green, which is what it really needs to be, but I may just have to live with the color being wrong, 'cuz I don't have a better plan for that shape at the moment. If you do, as always, suggestions are entirely welcome....

Anybody else thinking there looks like a disproportionate amount of Sequel content in there? Obviously we don't know what the distribution of characters is like yet, but the gameplay video shows the galaxy map, and almost half the planets (11/24) are from the Sequels, compared to only 6 from the OT and 7 from the PT. -

'Master Builder Series', LEGO's name for things like the Cantina and Cloud City that're UCS-sized but not display models. It's very important that we not talk about what exactly the difference between UCS and MBS is. -
#163, the BT-7 Thunderclap! Although this is externally very similar to the version I posted a couple days ago, the bits under the center tiles have been rejiggered, and I extended the cockpit by a plate to better match the source material. As for the other TOR player ships, the Fury and Defender are published; the Phantom model is finished, but has to wait for the Stud.io update to publish; the XS Stock Freighter is in progress; and I still have only a very vague idea of how I'm going to tackle the D5-Mantis (that's the hard one, for sure).

You see the pictures in this thread? Hmm. I just see generic image-not-found placeholders. Maybe a more complicated issue if they're working for some people and not others.

Your images aren't visible. If you tried to upload them directly here, you probably need to put them on a dedicated hosting site, like Imgur or Flickr, and use 'insert image from URL' to link to them. If that's already what you did, then there's something wrong with your links (e.g., linked to the Imgur album page instead of an individual photo, or something like that).

LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

People keep saying this, but there's no basis for it. LEGO has never done anything for movie anniversaries and I don't know why folks seem to think they do. Here's the record so far: TPM: 0 sets in 2009, 1 set in 2019 AotC: 0 sets in 2012 RotS: 0 sets in 2015 ANH: 2 sets in 2007, 1 set in 2017 ESB: 1 set in 2000, 5 sets in 2010, 2 sets in 2020 RotJ: 3 sets in 2003, 3 sets in 2013 The OT movies get about the same number of sets in anniversary years as they do in any random other year, and PT movies have historically gotten absolutely nothing. The clone trooper accessory pack that just came out is already more celebration than AotC got in 2012. That doesn't mean there won't be more AotC sets, but if there are it's not gonna be because of the anniversary. -

When there's this much overlap between the shows, it's not going to always make sense to try to clearly classify sets as one or the other. To take a recent example, this is like how Bo-Katan's Fighter came out with the whole wave of Mando stuff and is clearly intended to tie-in to that, even though the direct source for the set is the TCW version rather than Mando itself. -

The feet also have the Theelin hooves printed on them, so the legs/torso/head is definitely one unit. Only the lekku piece is wrong. -

No, those figures aren't right. Look at the printing on the "Twi'lek"--she has the facial horns and hooves of a Theelin, not a Twi'lek body at all. Unless she's some kind of Twi'lek-Theelin hybrid, here's no way the lekku headpiece goes with that figure. -
These are both still WIP, but probably pretty close to what they're gonna look like (so for folks who've played TOR, now's your chance to tell me if there's something I need to work on!). I have to wait a bit to publish the Phantom because I'm using the new part #80796 Brick 1x2x5/3 with Four Studs on Two Sides, which was just introduced this year and hasn't been added to Stud.io yet. It's also currently only available in transparent orange, which is OK because it's an interior part here, but I'll swap that out for grey whenever it becomes available. The info about the sizes of these ships is a bit confusing, since the lengths and widths often seem to be switched (it looks like they're defining 'length' as whichever axis of the ship is longest, even when that isn't front-to-back), and I can't tell whether the size of the Thunderclap is supposed to be with the wings open or closed (which makes a big difference). I'm assuming that that's the size of the ship in landing position (ie, the size of the main hull), since that makes it about the same size as the other TOR player ships, but it's certainly possible that that's an error on my part.

Alright, looking for opinions here. I'd like to make the X-70B Phantom-class prototype from SW:TOR, but I haven't actually played the game and I'm having a hard time getting a sense of what the ship really looks like from the images I've found of it. For folks who're more familiar with the ship, how recognizable is this? It seems like it's a different color in every picture; does the dark grey work?

#159-162: First Order shuttles! Including the Upsilon-class, Xi-class, AAL, and TIE Echelon. I haven't made many ships from the Sequel Trilogy, in large part because I didn't love the movies and would prefer to pretend the EU was still canon, but I do like the First Order aesthetic (enough so that I'm in the 501st as an FOTK). As I noted on the Rebrickable page, the officially published size for the Xi-class shuttle is 11.84 meters long, which is tiny, barely half the size of a Lambda or similar shuttle designs. However, I'm not convinced that that agrees with what's actually shown in TLJ: comparing the width of the cockpit relative to Finn and Rose gives me the impression that the real length is around 50% larger than that. As such, I think I'm justified in building it along the same lines as I've done the Lambda and other shuttles. Incidentally, with the Upsilon-class, I now have models of ships that start with every letter of the alphabet except O, so clearly I need to complete the set. I'm open to ideas as to what to make to do that. The Onager-class is already on my list of stuff to eventually build, but that would be by far the biggest model I've made so far, pushing towards the size of the UCS ISD, and I wouldn't expect to finish it for at least a couple of months.

I guess the other question is, do we actually know that the ship that showed up in The Mando is Slave I, or is it a different Firespray? The old story was that Slave I was looted along with everything else in Jabba's Palace while Boba was incapacitated by the Sarlacc, and he used other ships for several years before he recovered it. During this time period in Legends he'd have been flying the Slave II. The ship in The Mando has the same paint scheme as Slave I, but AFAIK nobody in-universe has referred to it by that name yet, so it may be that the Slave II is what's getting retconned. -
Nice tight-fitting hull--that's generally the hardest part of a Star Destroyer-type ship. I've learned some lessons from the Cantwell here, I think. That shape worked well, but attaching the top plates makes it a difficult build, more so than is probably necessary. For this one my plan is to have the bottom hull attached with hinge bricks, as is show here (like the Cantwell), but to have the top plates drop on the way the ones on the larger ISD builds often do. We'll see how that works out in practice, but right now that's where I'm headed with it. I'm building this primarily as the Immobilizer 418, but obviously I'll have the Vindicator too. Unfortunately there don't seem to be any official images of the Enforcer, other than one that's clearly just a reused image of an Immobilizer and can't really be right.

Thank you! Having all the models interact well like that is very important to me. That's why I also made sure the Ghost could fit in the Quasar Fire's hangar, the Gozanti can carry AT-ATs and TIEs, the Customs Corvette can hold the Ghtroc 720 between its mandibles, and so on. That's most of the fun of having lots of ships all to scale, IMO.

#156-158, Pelta-class frigates! Including both the Republic Navy versions from TCW as well as Phoenix Home from Rebels. I've been thinking about how I would approach the Pelta-class for quite a while, and I'm pleased with how they've turned out. That 3x3x2 cone piece is perfect; if that exact piece didn't already exist it would be essentially impossible to make the front of the ship look good at this scale. Unfortunately there's no real way to get the details of the bridge on there without doing what LEGO did and just printing them onto a large curved piece. Also, I generally don't care much for stickers on sets, but if you want to add the Republic emblem where it belongs on the medical frigate, there have been at least four sets with 2x2 stickers of that emblem that would be perfect for it.
