Ah, no I haven't. That's a good idea. I'll give that a try tomorrow on a 2x2 brick wall I have.

I've had a pile of used Lego that I didn't really want to use since the bricks were scratched and yellowed. One of my many hobbies is detailing my car, so I decided to put some of those tools to use. I documented my progress to see if I could really make these bricks look better. This first picture shows the stuff I used: Meguiar's M205 Ultra Finishing Polish - Available online, or you can get Scratch X 2.0 at any Walmart, Target, etc. Microfiber pad - You can also use an old towel or t-shirt I washed these bricks individually using a toothbrush and dishwash soap when I got them, but as you can see, it wasn't enough to get some of the dirt, yellow tint, and scratches out. This is what they looked like after stacking them: Here's a close up of the bricks showing the damage: I put a pea sized amount of the polish on the pad and polished the brick wall using a lot of elbow grease. I rubbed the polish in for a few minutes until my arm got tired and this was the result: Here's a close up: It looks a little cleaner, but I think I can make it look better. Time for the big guns. I used a regular household drill and the foam pad attachment that came with the 3M Headlight Restoration Kit: I set the brick wall on the ground, put a pea sized amount of polish on the pad and got to work. It's best to have somebody help you hold the wall down with two hands while you use both hands to hold the drill steady. I went across the wall 3-4 times. Afterwards, I washed the bricks with dishwashing liquid to get rid of the polishing oils and this was the result: And here's a close up: Is it perfect? No. 100 times better? Absolutely! I was totally happy with the results and it didn't take much time to do. Next time though, I think I will skip the polishing by hand and just use the drilll. I'm sure you could get the same results if you stick to it, but you will have to put a lot of elbow grease into it and spend more time. This weekend I'll try to do a 50/50 shot where I only do half a brick wall. That will hopefully show the results better. edit: Just in case... This is the modest set up I have right now. I need more room to display the other sets I have. The pictures aren't the greatest so I'll have to work on that.

Try this thread: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=27694 I like the Braintree store, but it doesn't make sense for me to go there since the Burlington one is closer to me. There's a worker there named Grey (or Gray, I can't remember) that's very friendly and knowledgeable. I was talking to him about his collection of Lego animals last time I was there. I pointed him to this site but I don't know if he ever signed up.

Definitely get the Landspeeder if you don't get the Death Star. You get 5 minifigures and the landspeeder to recreate that iconic scene. The only other one I would suggest since you're not a big fan of the TIEs, is the Battle of Endor set. That would round out the main "good guy" characters from the OT. It is a bit pricey though.

I haven't seen a few of the sets you mentioned in a long time. In particular: -Castle- 7097 Troll Mountain Fortress -Pirates-6243 Brickbeard's Bounty -Indiana Jones- 7199 Temple of Doom -Power Miners- 8964 Titanium Command Rig In fact, I haven't seen a Pirates, Castle (not Kingdoms), PM wave 1, or Indy set at any Target I've been to in the last few months. The Battle of Endor is a good possibility though since it's been out for so long and they still have quite a few on the shelves. Maybe the King's Castle? Though I do wish they brought back some Brickbeard's Bounty sets... I still can't believe I didn't pick up a 6211 when Target had them for $50 two years ago.

It says it's closed to the general public?

2 ExoForce and 1 SW for sale. HOT HOT HOT
Condor replied to Dino_Bot's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Hey, I'm interested in your Batman set. Have a look at my list and see if there's anything there that you'd want. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=46998 Thanks. -
Great review! I already own the original Hogwarts Express train, so I don't really see the point of buying this one. I do want those minifigs though The reason why there's no conductor or engineer is because it's a "magic" train. There should, however, be somebody pushing the cart or maybe a professor or something. I guess they expect you to buy the other sets for that.

Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List

+1 for prozac. Great communication and quick payment. Would deal with him again anytime! -
If it's anything like the Taj Mahal, there will be cardboard containers within the box. Each container has several bags of mixed up pieces. Some of the high volume pieces are in their own bags separately. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending if you like to sort), this makes the building process longer since you're looking for one piece in the middle of 6,000 pieces. The Eiffel Tower separated each part in their own bag if I remember correctly. After building those two, I can't wait to get my hands on the Tower Bridge. I'll tell you what though, building those big sets really makes the $130 Hogwarts Castle look small and not worth it.

A lot of great information in this thread. The only thing I would add is to look out for those clearance sales. Since you're in the US, I assume you have a Target and/or a Walmart nearby, so check them out every so often and you might a pleasant surprise. If you want any exclusive set though (MMV, Emerald Night, Green Grocer, etc.) buy them when you can, because they rarely go on sale and when they're gone, prices will skyrocket.

Comparing collectible vs 'classic' minifigs
Condor replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the analysis! I for one haven't really noticed a difference between the collectible and the classic minifigs. Though I guess I'm not as discerning as some of you Have you done a comparison between older 'classic' minifigs and the Green Grocer minifig? I wonder if they all have minor weight differences between each other. -
It looks cool, but I don't think I could wear it. I like my plain wedding ring

I picked up 5 bins full of Lego this morning at a yard sale for $50. I'm guessing it's around 30-40 pounds total. So far, I've found the old Millenium Falcon manual along with some half built parts, Dumbledore, Hagrid, Gamorrean Guard, Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, and a bunch of Life on Mars minifigs. I'll post some pics once I sort through everything.

Too late The kid had taken some of the stuff off already, so I figured I would try to salvage what I could. The rubber cement stuff came off pretty easily, so I have a few good pieces that I was able to salvage. There's 3 or 4 Vikings minifigs that I took out, but they don't move since they are glued together. I assume Bionicle stuff is from Toys R Us since that's what it says on the sticker in the back of the baseplate.

This is what I got from last year's holiday box. I made a 12x12 block of bricks and plates then stuffed the remaining pieces in the sides. You get WAY more pieces in the box than you would in the small PAB cup.

I see... Well I guess I'll just throw it up on ebay and see if I can get my money back. Thanks for the suggestions!

I picked these up today from somebody that had advertised two huge vikings sets. They mentioned their son had put them together for a school project and had glued the pieces together. When I got there and saw the sets, I thought I might be able to get the parts and glue off with acetone so I bought the lot. After doing some research at home though, it seems acetone and Lego don't mix. Obviously, they were not for a school project and seems to have been one of those displays they put up in the Lego aisles. The Bionicle baseplate has a sticker in the back that says: I would leave them as is and displayed them in my office, but the kid had already started taking some of the pieces off and some of the pieces are broken. Some of the parts were glued with rubber cement and that comes off pretty easily, but the other stuff is glued with some kind of super glue, which is probably why the pieces broke off. Any ideas on what I can do with it? Thanks!
