  1. On the topic of possible D2Cs, I'd actually like to see a collection of founders' objects done as individual D2Cs or one big one like the Hogwarts Icons set. The biggest issue would be doing a life-sized Gryffindor's Sword in LEGO, but if they'll do life-sized busts, I don't think anything is off the table anymore. Ravenclaw's Diadem might be a bit difficult to design since it's so delicate, but the Cup and Locket seem like no-brainers to me. I think we could also see the Durmstrang Ship as a $250-300 D2C eventually since pirate ships are popular. I also wouldn't disregard the possibility of a minifigure-scale Burrow, Privet Drive, or even Grimmauld Place and the Ministry of Magic depending on how long the theme lasts. I hope we get Gringotts next year, but I've been expecting it for two years now and I'm tired of waiting. It would be weird to release a companion set to a D2C that came out 3 years ago. Our only similar situations are modular buildings and Ninjago City. To be fair, the Gardens did come out 3.5 years after the Docks, but I'm not sure if LEGO would do that again. I hope they do but I'm going to prepare myself for a UCS Knight Bus or Ford Anglia in the meantime.
  2. I feel like the designs of the suits are more spoilery than their existence, which is why I would've expected LEGO (and other toy companies) to not release products like this until January. But if Shuri's Black Panther suit and the Ironheart Mark 2 are in a bunch of toys coming out in October, I don't really see the advantage of revealing them in September versus July. We're still seeing them before the movie. I guess they could be waiting for the main trailer to reveal them, but given how compressed film marketing has become that seems like a bad idea from the beginning.
  3. I do like the build overall. It has an interesting shape and what seems to be a very spacious interior, but it's very boring from the outside and definitely overpriced. The little dragonfly drones are perfect, but Wakandan vehicles usually have some kind of personality to them, and this ship has nothing. It's just a black box. A nice black box, but there's nothing special about it apart from the shape. Totally agree about the minifigures, too. How are there only two Talocans across a 4 set wave?? Not to mention that Shuri's Black Panther suit still doesn't get leg printing and there's no headdress for Namor. Namora should've replaced Attuma in the Sunbird set at the very least, even if we didn't get generic Talocan soldiers. I really think Ramonda should've been included as well, but I can forgive LEGO for not making her since she probably won't be as involved in the action. She's got such an interesting design though - I really hope we get a figure of her in the future.
  4. I'll give Eternals a free pass because LEGO needed to make so many characters for that movie. As long as we get all the major minifigures for GotG 3 I think it'll be fine, but obviously 3 regular sets as opposed to one being 4+ would be better. Honestly, this is exactly what I'm expecting. I'll be happy with this as long as the builds are decent and not super small for the price. I'm excited to get another Marvel spaceship (hopefully it's not gonna be a third Benatar).
  5. Only one $30 set for Quantumania seems like too little. I know the Ant-Man movies aren't huge but I was hoping we'd get Hank and Janet this time around. And if we get Scott, Hope, Cassie, and Kang in one $30 set, I expect the minifigures to look half-baked with no leg printing and reused faces all around or for the build to be shockingly small with great figures. As for The Marvels, I'm very happy to see that the set is $80. I think bigger one-off sets or two small to medium sized sets per movie is the way to go, because one small to medium set isn't enough to get all the characters we want. I'm expecting Carol, Monica, Kamala, and Nick Fury in that set plus probably Zawe Ashton's villain.
  6. I'm pretty excited at all the minifigure possibilities from these new movies (especially for The Marvels, because I desperately need an MCU Kamala Khan). Thunderbolts and Captain America 4 could give us some pretty cool sets. I know the set builds for Earth-based spy/military movies aren't usually anything special in terms of subject matter, but I think LEGO's been turning out pretty good builds regardless. I liked all the Civil War builds and I liked the Black Widow helicopter and tank quite a bit. Even if we just get more cars and planes, I expect those sets to be pretty cool.
  7. I don't think Black Panther should have gotten a life-sized bust over more popular characters, but how are people claiming he isn't top 5 most popular? He's top 5 based on box office alone. I don't think that's a good enough reason to give him a $350 set, but Black Panther is undeniably popular and has had a massive impact on popular culture in a short period of time. I understand LEGO's reasoning in that regard, I just don't buy that Black Panther is a more popular character than Iron Man or Spider-Man, especially when it comes to toy sales. I really don't like how much hate Mark Stafford (and LEGO designers in general) are getting. They don't set prices. The Sanctum was designed to a $200 price point - it's not the designer's fault that LEGO jacked the set up to $250, which made everything about it look worse (in my opinion). The same thing happened with this set - as @Falconfan1414 said, it's possible that the original price was $250, although I personally think it was originally more like $300. I think this set is a lot bigger than everyone is expecting and I really want to see it in person to get a sense of its scale. All that being said, I don't think this set should exist. I love it, but I'm gonna have to tap out if this becomes a new line of products from LEGO. I can't afford to buy life-size Marvel busts every year, more so in terms of space than money, and I've bought every Marvel set for the last several years. With how oversized and overpriced LEGO D2Cs are becoming, I'm not going to be able to get every one I want, and I really can't see a ton of people buying this bust. I know LEGO is going after non-AFOL markets, but how many people want a life size bust of a superhero? How many want one of Black Panther? How many want one of Black Panther, made out of LEGO, that's not good value for money compared to a set like the Daily Bugle at the exact same price? I think this set is a wonderful tribute to Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa, but I also think it's a blatant attempt to profit from his untimely death. LEGO can say whatever they want, but if Black Panther was a big enough seller to warrant a $350 life-sized bust, I would've expected more Black Panther-centered sets in the years since the first movie, or even just good minifigures of him. Iron Man and Spider-Man are Marvel's big sellers - that's reflected in LEGO's own products, where those minifigures get the best printing and the most sets dedicated to them. Making a Black Panther bust before characters like that or even someone like Batman sends a very clear message, IMO. If it was about popularity or even who has a movie coming out, we would have seen Spider-Man and Batman before Black Panther. Not to mention, if this set would have existed either way because the first Black Panther movie made so much money, are we going to be getting one of these for Captain Marvel next summer? I'd put money on that not happening. Captain Marvel also made a ton of money for an initial solo superhero movie (although obviously Black Panther's cultural impact was much bigger), yet there's no helmet, mech, or even any retail set centered on Carol Danvers apart from the one for her movie. So yeah, I don't really buy the excuse that we got a Black Panther bust because the first movie was successful. I like this set but I don't think LEGO should have made it, and honestly they should be donating a portion of the profits to colon cancer research or doing something similar because I don't think this set paints them in a positive light.
  8. Honestly, I think this set looks beautiful. This is exactly the kind of weird, non-LEGO thing I would've expected LEGO to make in a few years, but I wouldn't have expected it now. I love the build - I think the helmet looks pretty decent and I really like how the same design for the Nano Gauntlet was reused for T'Challa's forearms. I think it's a great tribute to Chadwick Boseman and a really cool, if weird, set. That being said, I don't think this is going to sell well at all. It seems like it was designed for a $250 - $300 price point. $350 is extremely overpriced and they couldn't even give us a printed plaque for that kind of money? And while I expected LEGO to go in this direction at some point, I never thought we'd have a life-size bust of Black Panther before characters like Spider-Man, Batman, and Iron Man. The thing about all-black models not displaying well is a great point, too - I want this to be bathed in purple light and I wish LEGO had made a new light brick or included some Powered Up lights in the set. I don't love the overall direction LEGO is going in. As @Clone OPatra said, there's just way too many insanely big sets being released every month. I like buying these D2Cs but it's not affordable at all, especially when they're this overpriced (and oversized). I'm still excited for the Hulkbuster, but I thought a $350 one was unnecessarily large. Who wants a $500 one? I'm sure it'll be an incredible build at that price point, but I fully expect it to be significantly overpriced. I feel like LEGO could (and should) be making all of these sets at lower price points that appeal to more people, and I feel the exact same way about the new Hogwarts Express.
  9. The Sanctum build looks incredible, but this set is really let down by the terrible minifigure selection. Iron Man and Spider-Man are fantastic but don't need to be here. Ebony Maw and Wong look unfinished without printed legs and Maw was completely unnecessary. Mordo looks okay, but I would've preferred dark green pieces with sand green printing and he needed leg printing too. Dead Strange is weird to get without Defender Strange IMO and his hair piece doesn't even have the white streaks, Sinister Strange's hair doesn't fit the character at all, and don't even get me started on Wanda. Her tiara looks much better now but the mold still sucks. I'm glad she got a new face but no leg or arm printing and no cloth piece makes her look so bland. It feels like the designers gave up halfway on her minifigure. The build itself is amazing though. I love all the Easter eggs and the little modular wall sections. I'm really impressed with how the interior was done. Overall, it's a pretty decent set but for that price it needed much better figures. I would have gladly taken no Ebony Maw and a better Wanda, or better yet, no Infinity War figures at all. We could've gotten the Ancient One, 838 Christine, and Defender Strange instead.
  10. Exactly. I'm always surprised when we see $150+ sets that aren't D2Cs, but it doesn't affect the quality. The Ninjago City Docks cost $230 as well and wasn't a D2C, but it was definitely on the same level as Ninjago City in terms of quality.
  11. It sucks that we'll be waiting till August but I'm sure the Sanctum will be well worth it. Really excited to see the figures! Hopefully we finally get a new skirt piece for Wanda.
  12. Slightly disappointed to see that Nebula no longer has her orange stripe. I'm still waiting for an Endgame-accurate figure for her!
  13. Whoops, yeah it isn’t new. That does make more sense.
  14. It’s technically a new mold because there are two spikes at the back of the head now. I don’t know why they wouldn’t change the mouth too if they were modifying the mold anyway…
  15. I love the color scheme for the Giganotosaurus and I don’t mind the Indominus head reuse, but I do think the mouth looks a bit strange since the Indominus had a very crocodilian mouth and the Giga doesn’t. I also really don’t like the T. rex hand reuse. We should’ve gotten a reuse of the new Indo arms or better yet a new mold. The Therizinosaurus looks awesome except for its claws. I get what LEGO was going for there but it’s just really awkward looking and the Indoraptor legs are so dumb. I wish LEGO would just make a new leg mold for the Indo body if they’re going to keep reusing it for mid-size theropods because the raptor sickle claw on all these species is getting ridiculous. I wanted to ask if people here display their LEGO dinosaurs. I’ve got every Jurassic Word one to date and plan to collect the new ones as well, but they’re all just sitting in Ziploc bags in a drawer right now. I’d love to put them in a wall-mounted display case and I was wondering if anyone’s tried something similar?
  16. I wouldn't mind 80s Thor in the second set but part of me doubts we'll get multiple new figures in the smaller one. I'm assuming Thor will be a repeat (and maybe Mighty Thor) but I'm hoping we get Sif.
  17. I really love this set. It's so unique and I can't believe we're getting 4 minifigures with new torso and leg printing plus two new molds and another new figure. Gorr does look very meh, but I'm chalking that up to him having a lame in-universe design. I've never liked the idea of him being the villain since Hela was given his weapon-manifesting power in Ragnarok and he's such a visual letdown after her awesome costumes. I still think Jane needed a new face print, but it's more understandable why she didn't get one considering all the other new minifig parts in this set. The build looks great for $50 and the goats are nice little builds even if they're a bit awkward. I'd prefer molded ones but I do like seeing LEGO try their hand at different brick-built animals. Can't wait to see what the second set is! I'm hoping for a helmeted Thor and helmet-less Mighty Thor.
  18. I don't think concept art was an issue this time. Other toy companies have figures of Defender Strange, Sinister Strange, Mordo, and Wanda, so it stands to reason LEGO would get the same art to work off of. Obviously bigger spoilers will be held back for later toy releases but I fully expect Mordo and Wanda in this set if it is based on MoM.
  19. Maybe, but IMO it would be better if it covered multiple movies like the Death Star does. Enough happens around the Sanctum for us to get some characters we haven't seen in years like The Ancient One, and in a perfect world I'd also love some generic Kamar-Taj sorcerers.
  20. I'm blown away by the Sanctum rumor. I thought it was insane to get TWO Marvel D2Cs in one year, let alone three. I'm really excited for this one, though. I think it should cover several movies and include Strange, Wong, Mordo, The Ancient One, Wanda, America Chavez, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Defender Strange, and Sinister Strange. Illuminati members would be cool too, but I doubt we'll get so many new figures. I'll be happy with detailed updated versions of Wanda and Mordo. Looks like I'll have to do some major rearrangements in my city display this summer!
  21. I've got a lot of thoughts on the new sets. First of all, why are the minifigures so bad? The poacher in the Maisie set looks cool, but I couldn't even tell that the other figure was Maisie although I guess I see it now. Owen still has the same torso and face print and Claire's hairpiece doesn't work for her hairstyle at all. I don't know why LEGO keeps slapping that piece on every female minifigure but it's getting super irritating especially when it's so inaccurate. Kayla's hair is also horrible - she doesn't have a bob and most of her hair is dark, so I have no clue why that piece was used. I know it's all about the dinosaurs, but better minifigures would be nice. The dinos and builds here look pretty decent. I like the plane and that Quetzalcoatlus is amazing! I didn't expect LEGO to make one and although I wish it had more articulation, it's still an amazing new species to add to the lineup. Still crossing my fingers for a Mosasaurus and Brachiosaurus/other sauropod one day, but I guess they aren't coming this year because the biggest set has to have the Giganotosaurus. I like the Atrociraptor mold and the new baby raptor mold is so cute! I'm not the biggest fan of that color scheme for Blue but it looks much better than the Fallen Kingdom one and it's nice to have so much variation across her designs. The truck build in that set is really good, the T. rex truck is fine but the red cab clashes with the blue transport area a bit too much for me. The facade build in that set also looks really lazy. LEGO's done much better with side builds like that before. I'm excited to see the rest of the sets! I think the biggest set will include BioSyn HQ with some play features and a laboratory, plus the Giganotosaurus and some trees as a side build.
  22. $210 makes more sense than $500 for an Avengers Tower set, but I really want it to get the Daily Bugle treatment which would put it at $300+. Is 76218 confirmed to be Marvel or could it possibly be another Batmobile D2C? Three $200+ D2Cs in one year for Marvel seems absolutely insane, although so did two D2Cs. I like the prints and new helmet mold for the Mighty Thor minifigure, but would it kill LEGO to make new face prints too? It's not like there's an existing female head with blue lightning eyes we can substitute in.
  23. True, but LEGO's put stickers on those 2x4 slope bricks before and honestly I would've preferred a ton of stickers that had to be lined up over no detail at all. If you don't like the stickers you can just leave them off anyway.
  24. I love the concept of the Thor's Hammer set, but it does feel extremely low-effort. How are there NO printed details for a Mjolnir of this size? I even would've taken stickers over nothing. I like the build itself and the display base is nice, but it just feels unfinished to me. The treasure room's inclusion is cool, but would it really have been that hard to recolor the Nano Gauntlet mold into gold so we could have an accurate right-handed Infinity Gauntlet? That feels like a bit much to ask for, but given the lack of detail in the hammer itself it would have been nice. The handle strap is also way too small, but that's a pretty minor thing. Overall I like the build, but like other recent sets, it feels like the designers just gave up at the end when it was on the verge of perfection. I really want to see these large prop replica-style sets continue, but this one definitely could've been better. I'd love an Infinity Stone collection D2C, I fully expect LEGO to do the Nano Gauntlet sometime soon, and I think Cap's shield would be an interesting challenge. I'm also waiting for more Marvel "helmets" - I also don't know why we don't have Spider-Man already. We could get one comic-based one and one for the MCU, and we could get sets for Black Panther, Captain Marvel, War Machine, Star-Lord, Ant-Man, etc.
  25. We did get that Endgame set with Rescue and the Nano Gauntlet in October 2019 though, so I'm hoping we see something for NWH this summer. I actually like the Iron Man Figure a lot more than I expected. I didn't like the look of it very much but I was impressed with the articulation and the head looks better in person, although it's still not great.
