  1. Am I the only one who has an urge to customize the werewolf into Mat-Bat from the Batman game? The head resemblence makes me geek out.
  2. Does my memory deceive me, or do the year's small impulse sets not come out until the summer/fall waves anyway?
  3. Thanks! And haha, you caught me. I took those pictures first and then decided to have Harley driving for the chase pictures. I'm inconsistent.
  4. Hi guys! I don't really have much time on my hands to make MOCs, so these aren't gonna be anywhere as good as a lot of the Batman creations I've seen here. Anywho, warning aside, I wanted to make vehicles to go with some of the Batman minifigures I found on eBay recently. One is my own take on the Batmobile (combining elements from the original and the Tumbler) and a generic truck for The Joker and his gang. On the run straight off of another crime spree, The Joker and one of his henchmen fire shots at the Bat-a-Ram (a brute-force, yet compact incarnation of the Batmobile) from atop a truck driven by Harley Quinn. "Blast that stupid Bat, Mistah J!" The Bat-a-Ram swerves to avoid the potent Joker bombs flying out from The Joker's truck! "Oh, how I love the smell of chaos on a late winter's afternoon. Bomb voyage, Bats! Hahahahaha!" The Bat-a-Ram: front back The cockpit-not much detail here, as I don't plan do actually keep Bats in it to keep him in good condition. The Joker's truck: front back the Joker bomb chute, angle 1 the Joker bomb chute, angle 2 Sorry about the poor picture quality. Please let me know what you think! -Venvoi
  5. While I didn't have that exact problem, I did have a lot of trouble even telling the difference between the actual bumps I was decoding and the usual texture of the bags. It didn't look like they'd applied the bump system correctly. I was able to luckily identify 4 of the minifigs I was looking for though (the mummy, elf, hula girl, and rapper). I wish I could've found the gorilla, but from the pics I've seen of him I'm not missing much. My TRU here in VA, USA has gotten in 2 boxes of minifigs but was keeping them behind the service counter and limiting them to 6 per customer. Luckily I only wanted 5, but I feel for the people wanting a complete set. I also got the BOGO50% off sale, but it didn't help that my TRU had raised the price even further to $4 per minifig. I might as well just get my favorites from future series on eBay.
  6. This is a fantastic MOC! I especially love the detail you put into the sewer level. Toxic sludge ftw!
  7. And Europe was basically the only place that saw large amounts of series 1. Karma. I haven't seen any series 3 here in VA yet either. I hope to keep checking TRU for them. This series doesn't interest me as much as the last two, but I really wanna try to get the Elf for a friend of mine who's a LOTR addict.
  8. I already have the old painted coffin from the Adventurers "pyramid" and I'll be getting two Horus mummies in the Flying Mummy Attack set. This'll be an easy pass for me; maybe if it had some Anubis or the Pharaoh..
  9. Great review! As stated, I liked your honestly when going over the pros and cons of the set. I picked this one up today and wasn't disappointed (though I didn't set my standards too high for this set). I was delighted with the minifigs and column, but the walker did leave something to be desired. It would be better if they'd included a seat, or at least a place for the diver to stand on it. I always hate how the divers are often barely hanging onto their smaller crafts by a lone handlebar.
  10. Actually, if you look at the franchise with respect to toy lines, Batman pretty much is for kids right now. The action figure department is dominated by the chunky Imaginext and Brave & the Bold figures, while the building sets department is dominated by TRIO, which is also aimed at younger children. As far as I can tell, all of these lines are selling fairly well. While the Batman media out right now (comics, animated movies, etc) isn't really for younger audiences, Batman is a widely-enough known franchise for any company-including Lego-to make it kid-oriented if they really wanted to, as shown by the toy lines above.
  11. I might be in the minority here, but I don't see why there isn't a decent following of Trio Batman among older audiences. I mean, if you look past the chunky building blocks, they're a pretty neat incarnation of the Batman characters. This'd be a great idea. They've brought back good sellers like Enchanted Island from Pirates, why not revive an old line? I'd really love to see some new Batman sets, even if I had to resort to Megablocks But meanwhile, I've managed to get decent deals on the Batman, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Harley, Scarecrow, and Joker minifigs on eBay ($22 being the highest for a "used" Joker with the wrong crotch color, and Mr. Freeze and Scarecrow being keychains). Overall though, every listing for these minifigs and sets tend to have unbelievable prices.
  12. My TRU still had what 2011 sets they had in stock at the normal price, so I picked up Duel in the Air for $19.99 and the $9.99 set
  13. As others have said, Duel in the Air is a must-buy for me, as well as the two small sets. I'm on the fence about the cobra set, but I don't think I'll get it.
  14. From Toys N Bricks: If these turn out to be true, this sounds like a pretty cool series, especially the Artist and Gnome. -VenVoi
  15. My Target had the Army Man & Mini Jeep, Police Boat, and X-Wing for $3; the Fireman & Helicopter for $4; and some neat Minifigure "flashlights" for $7. I picked up the Army Man, but sadly they were all out of the Spot giftcards. Anyone else had any trouble finding him? I also spotted a line called "TRIO" on the Lego aisle that had a Batman theme. A set with The Joker and a robotic walker was on sale for $15. It looks like this line was meant for an even younger audience than Lego, but I couldn't say no to my favorite character in almost-Lego form. Quite a nice surprise.
  16. I'm gonna be cliche and be The Joker for the third year in a row. Here's last year's: I'm gonna try to improve on it this year, especially in the scar area. Gotta keep tradition, right? -Venvoi
  17. Awesome job! It's amazing how detailed this piece is.
  18. ^This. This is simply epic! I love the sleek look.
  19. As others have said, I'd like to see a Super Mario line. There's already a successful figure line, why not Lego? And of course, I'd love to see more Batman! Hopefully a new line'll come out in late 2011/early 2012 to go with the third movie. I could really go for a Joker minifig
  20. What price would you want for Two-Face's Escape?
  21. The Minifigures are in the novelty toys section of the Halloween/seasonal section of Target. Mine only had an empty box though.
  22. Thanks, but I'd already checked Bricklinkand several sites on Google as well. I just posted here to see if anyone would be willing to sell theirs for a more reasonable price. -Venvoi
  23. Yes, I realize what an insane(no pun intended) idea it was to make this topic, but I figured that it's worth a shot. I never got into the Batman sets when they were out and I've been regretting that lately. I've been scouring eBay for The Joker's(my favorite Batman villain ) minifigure for several weeks now, but the lowest price I've seen one auctioned off for is $30 and the lowest Buy It Now price I've seen is $50. Once again, I realize that this is a dumb question, but would anyone be willing to sell me a complete Joker minifigure that's in fairly good condition for a decent price(peferrably in the $10-20 range)? I know this is a collectible, but I was hoping that someone has a spare one lying around that they wouldn't mind selling off. I understand if no one wants to sell theirs, I just thought I'd give this a shot. Thanks for your time! -VenVoi
  24. Nice Batcave! I like how it's simple in layout, yet complex in its attention to detail. I like all of the custom vehicles, but I think my favorite part is the super-computer. A tech geek's dream come true. -VenVoi
  25. Very nice job! As aforementioned, I love your use of the Mime head. And I also like how you used Brick Daddy's(I believe) fedora for Joker. Keep up the good work!
