Hopefully everyone is okay with this shameless plug here. Just letting people know, my app just dropped on the iOS AppStore for iPhone. BrickHunter is essentially a grocery list app for gathering and collecting lego parts to build sets. Search for and load a set into the projects view. All parts for the set will be loaded and after you scroll through all the parts once, the images will be cached on your device. You can then tap on the parts you have gathered to mark as “collected”. This is great for a few use cases: - you want to build a set but would like to have all the parts pulled from your collection before you start to build. - you are trying to collect a set that you can no longer buy and you want a list of the parts you are still looking for. - you want to see images of something you are looking for but you have no cell reception (most lego stores, especially in from of the BAM tower... sigh) - you just entered a Lego game and want a sneak peek at what parts are in the set you will be working with. ? anyhow, BrickHunter is free on the AppStore and I hope you find it useful! https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/brickhunter/id1536296221 Happy building everyone!

So who will be the first to tackle the new modular train system Akiyuki released? I love the fact that he is thorough enough in his videos, he knows we are rebuilding them and he is so kind to give us a thorough look at the build! I have to say, he has seriously inspired me when it comes to technic!

All the parts? Yes. Built? No. I live in quite a small apartment, so builds come and go all the time... but the collection never shrinks.

Wow! Even I'm thinking of dusting off some pieces and building one of these again! Great work on nailing down those details, you are probably having Akiyuki dreams like I was when I was reverse engineering those GBC's. They are such rewarding builds, it feels like a solid accomplishment and a massive project while working on it, but certainly very rewarding!

I have built the Beam Sorter, but I guess this is not the thread for it. Works pretty reliably and despite it being "Slow" it allows me to sort other Lego while it sorts beams. Now I need to build the Axle sorter. I think someone was working on it, but I don't recall who. I am reworking my LDD file of the Beam Sorter, I will then test build it and shoot videos. I'll pass the LDD onto BlackBird who will work his magic on it and we could have a useful machine for the avid Technic collectors!

I know GBC balls are expensive, but I think you are trying a little too hard to get creative on an alternative...

Anyone else notice he has it sorting 2x5 bricks? I guess that is why it's able to work incrementally, but seems a strange size to include in the demo.

I agree, it really is hard to know when designing what will be easier to access. I've encountered some build where I thought 2x2 bricks would be easier to come by than other alternative parts only to find out it wasn't true. Sometimes it is good to carefully read through the instructions and make notes on either a printed copy or in the PDF of where you could use alternate parts. When designing instructions, there is no way to suggest all the possible alternatives for the parts, so some planning is useful on the part of the builder,

I've been compiling 2 BrickStock parts lists. I plan to post them once we have a complete set of instructions. Still waiting on modules 1, 3 and 23. These lists include both variations of the spiral lift so in the ultimate list, you will be able to build both. The Complete Akiyuki GBC Collection. This list contains all the parts needed to build any one Akiyuki Machine at a time according to the PDF instructions posted here. This one currently weighs in at 13,993 pieces. The Ultimate Akiyuki GBC Collection. This list contains all the parts needed to build ALL the Akiyuki machines listed in this post until now. This one weighs in at 35,624 pieces. Once we have models 1, 3 and 23 up here I will release the list with the version number reflecting what the last model number on that list is. For example once we have the last 3 models complete both parts lists at version 23 will be uploaded. I'm also working to streamline the list a little. There are instances of 8x16 tile with tubes on the bottom and 8x16 tiles with tubes only on the bottom sides. I've merged those so that only 1 type of part needs to be ordered. If anyone can think of reasons why one must be used over the other, then let me know and I will revert that change.

That would be amazing! To study under Akiyuki, the Archimedes of our time! I know that could be a controversial statement, but who can think of anyone else these days who is creating such elaborate purely mechanical devices?

I did notice that the beads are 14mm (not sure on their tolerance though, it may be +/- 1mm) and the Lego balls I believe are 14.1mm exactly. That's the most common place I found the beads jammed and showed their inaccuracy and is the #1 reason why I never recommended them for the ball factory.

Amazing! I'm so happy to see it come together!!!! What a build! Again, don't try this as a first GBC build, unless you want to learn through "Trial by terror!" You need to know your Technic very well to attack this one! I wouldn't even put an age range on this, it's more of a personality type that would enjoy it! Someone who loves a challenge, deals well with frustration and who enjoys tinkering with something to keep it working! Great work on the instructions Blakbird! I was just thinking, it may be interesting to also post in the first post under each (Complete or not) the original video link to Akiyuki's videos, both out of respect to him and as a tribute of where we started, to where we are now! Just a link though and not an inline video as that would make that post INSANELY huge! Up to you, it's your post. :) You do include the video in each post I see... so maybe not required...

I just sent Blakbird the LDD file of the Spiral Lift Type 2 today. I brick built most of it before designing it in LDD. I didn't have all the needed tubes, so I couldn't fully test it, but in the parts where I could I tested everything and it works. The LDD is built to single height (3 tracks) so lets see if Blakbird releases single or double height instructions. I could see either of them being useful.

I didn't have enough track to do the full height so I went back to the half height model 3 tracks high. There are 38 links per level. I now have the mechanics working as well as the support wheels at the top and bottom placed. The ramp to the left of the hopper also. I DONT have enough to correct length tube though to finish but should be able to post pictures later.

I have brick built it up to the point of the LDD file. I have made some MINOR changes, like changing a couple of occurrences of 3 plates to a brick etc or an axle to a pin. I agree, more sprockets! Likely 4 per axle for a total of 8. Top and bottom of each set of 3 tracks. Also it may need something in the center that free floats to keep the axle distance as the 32 stud axels (or any combination of joined axles) seems to bow in towards the center under the weight of the tracks. Something else I noticed, for the straight parts of the tube, since it is such a long distance across, to help keep it very straight, I inserted an axle (or axles depending on length) to keep it straight.

@9v system Looking good! You have the major drive components in place and the gearing looks good! I do agree also that there is so much that you can do electronically and to move it forward you just need to start brick building it. Just make sure to add your changes to your LDD file as you finalize your changes. I'm tempted to start bricking this one to see where it will go from here.

I can say with certainty that I have 100 of these (in exactly the same color) and have had trouble with them in the ball factory. I completely believe that in any other module in this thread though they will work, but in the ball factory, their size, texture and exact roundness or lack thereof on some of them have caused them to jam.They are handy to have if you need a larger volume of balls for a module or several modules where there is tolerance. I am curious how they would work on the basketball shooter when mixed with Lego balls as weight differences would change the range of the shot.

Looks great! How solid is it at the top? I'd think you'd want another pair of 9 stud beams at the top for strength although I can't imagine there is much stress on it at that point. Want to bring ALL your modules to BrickCan? I don't think thye have indicated how much room there will be for a GBC yet though.

Ice Wolf, welcome to the forums and to the greatest building thread I've had the privilege of being a part of. I remember seeing these pictures from when you originally did this. (I'm hoping it was you that reached out to me early on in the project.) This is a great way to use this turntable style! Great addition and sharing of information!

Has no one considered what this may be: While this may be in reference to Lego Dimensions, might it perhaps be a hint at a full redesign of the digital designer under a new name? Perhaps something with a mobile interface and a way of linking parts usage to the pick a brick availability for pick a brick style parts ordering.(ALL SPECULATION!)
