When I was at Lego store today and picked up a few holiday sets, I also found one that I had never seen before: a polybag with the number 40008. It's not listed on Bricklink and it doesn't show up at Lego.com search so I wonder if it was released a little too soon? I posted the bag scan and part list on BL: http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=479631 Kind of cute set with 2 kids holding snowballs, a snowman, and a pine tree with trans-yellow topper suggesting Christmas theme. Of all the $4.99 polybaged holiday sets, this one had the highest brick count and the only one I've seen so far whose average price ends up a lot cheaper than $0.10 per brick.

There are sets that have more than 5,000 bricks. One has almost 6,000 total...

Went to Lego store today (originally planned yesterday but had to help someone) and they had 4 red 1x1 flowers on spruce so I piled them in a small cup with a bunch of green 3 stemmed plants. They are quite soft so I was able to really cram the cup. I also filled the large cup. I originally planned to fill gaps with BL fodder but I decided to just fill with whatever I *might* need later. Ended up with lots of trans-cyan 1x1 round plates, lots of trans-yellow and trans-orange cheese wedges along with some of the stuff I wanted. Including a number of 2x2 and 2x4 bricks in "eye-melting Naruto-orange" shade, lots of 1x2 green profile bricks (for my 7898 engine, my cat loves it and I have to reassembled it every few days, always missing 1 profile brick ) and lots of trans-green 1x2 with no center support. It is just exactly like the windshield of a vintage X1 patrol ship from 1980's. I have not counted yet but I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up with a lot more than $23 worth of flower stuff in the little $8 cup alone. EDIT: yep. 361 stalks and 79 flowers at .13 and .14 each respectively on Lego PAB = total of $57.99 :cry_happy: Still to start on the bigger cup. EDIT2: not as specular since there were few larger bricks but the total came to: 40 green 1x2 profile, 30 orange 2x4, 30 lime 2x4, 9 orange 2x2, 12 dark bley 6x6 plates (I need more for trains), 375 trans-light blue round 1x1 plates, 93 trans-orange cheese wedge, 78 trans-yellow, 32 trans-green 1x2, 25 blue 2x2 flowers and 15 2x2 yellow flowers. PAB at L@H would have been 86.59 Oh yeah I picked up 10199 toy shop, 10216 bakery village, 40011 turkey, 40012 pumpkin, 40013 ghost, 40014 bat, and 40008 set that was unlisted on BL

LDD problem with manual
Lego Otaku replied to lakuda's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
A workaround that seems to work is to: select all copy (menu not copy brick) start a new project using normal and not universe mode paste. It works on getting entire set over including colors and obsolete bricks. From there, try making a manual. -
First sneek peak at LDD 4.0
Lego Otaku replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hopefully Lego isn't pulling a Duke Nukem Forever Over 10 years of promised release, teaser images, and no actual software. One magazine gave the game a permanent vaporware award. -
It's out, I personally saw them at both Lego store and at Toys R Us. It is not complete however, the set also includes a train with engine, tender, and 1 passenger car. So 4841 is officially out, and the above model should be listed as incomplete for now unless Junk adds the rest of the train set or someone else makes train set and combines with the car.

Got this set at a local Lego store so they haven't sold out yet. And yes I got double VIP points (on top of $30 discount from last month VIP points) So check your local store if you're close enough. They do handle your online VIP system at local store.

I see you did a lot more than to add a motor. You added the extra wheels (blind wheels) that weren't used in original manual and more. I would think this looks a lot better than original version.

First sneek peak at LDD 4.0
Lego Otaku replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Not when it's liable to be loaded with bugs. Such as: [rant] 2x4 bricks won't go half stud off set on a 1x3 brick. If we got LDD 4.0 earlier we could have a bug fixed version before October [/rant] -
First sneek peak at LDD 4.0
Lego Otaku replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
How many brick type and colors are there? Even if we limited the selection to current LDD palette, probably a thousand right now so refitting all with tubes would be time consuming. Plus the result would still need to be checked by a person in case an extra brick slipped out or one got stuck in the tube. There are lots of pro and cons of trying to automate LDD creation but ultimately cost of retrofitting is one of them and I have no idea how many people actually buys their creation through LDD. If it's a few a day world wide, then it may not be cost effective to automate. But if they regularly get 100+ a day, automating would cut time and save money in the long run. -
missing a classic space minifig?
Lego Otaku replied to Lego Otaku's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nice!! The newer style helmet with visor support isn't quite the same. Still, when one consider Lego did have all the parts in early 1980's to make light gray space minifig, one had to wonder why they didn't offer them at all. -
I was looking through old Lego instruction manuals when I noticed a few of the classic space sets from early 1980's all had light gray air tanks. I checked BL, there are light gray helmet in the same style as classic space minifigs. I could assemble a full gray minifig except there is no gray torso with the logo. Was a gray version ever planned? If not, then why have the air tank and helmet in that color? Me thinks it's time to dig through my bin of spare minifigs and buy missing parts on BL, then make classic logo water slides. Maybe sell one on eBay

I'm planning to go to a Lego store tomorrow, the tip for stacking in a cup to get more pieces in is a very good one. I can't remember what they had last time I was there but would there be any piece or 2 that I would want to look for if I have extra space in my cup and planned to fill in with BrickLink store fodders for money? I think they had huge load of trans-yellow and trans-orange cheese slopes.

I talked to lego S@H and learned some stuff
Lego Otaku replied to Carefree_Dude's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Part of the reason I didn't like flexi is the wide gap between track section seems to make a bit more noise than train on non flexi tracks. As other mentioned, flexi track can be used to make wide radius curve that is more in scale with rest of the train sets (especially if you go 7 or 8 wide train vs Lego standard 6) -
I'll accept your offer. One of my model needs oil change. Oh you were offering to fix Lego model and not an actual car?

If you know someone who has a baby and is feeding the baby Gerber food, check with them. Some Gerber food comes in small resealable plastic tub that could be cleaned ad reused to store small or uncommon pieces. ie one small tub for all of your white 1x1 round plate, etc. They stack well too.

don't be afraid as it's really hard to hurt my feeling ;) Ignore the ugly orange thing, it's where the motor would be. Trans-yellow doesn't seem to show well in screen shots but they are trans-yellow. I'm planning to build a main engine that has 4x6x2 yellow windscreen plus 4x4x2 extended canopy along with the battery compartment. There is 2 stud margin between cockpit and the battery box so I should be fine. I have not started on the engine yet so its not picture. The rest of the monorail will go after the motor, all pulled via towball plates. The blank black piece is my facesimile of monorail base as that doesn't exist in LDD. I have set clear brick and plate under it to set the cars to where it would be if it had normal wheels so I can see how much underside I can add without bumping into the rail. The trailing car is not finished, needs a 4x6x2 canopy and some tweaking to finish but again that piece doesn't exist in LDD. The cars all have hinged 4x10 trans-yellow plate for access to the inside. Yes it will be 6 wide so I could hide the black undercarriage. Plus it leaves some room for minifig to walk around inside the car. With the original monorail design, minifig couldn't move unless the canopy was open. There will be tables and other furniture. At present no "door" on side of the car is planned. The trans-yellow brick isn't common enough for detailed door. I've dug through all of my Lego and I have enough monorail plates for 8 long train. So I could build a sleeper type car, or flat cargo carrier, etc. So suggest or insult my design. What do you think of it so far? Need something added or deleted?

Unecessary quote of entire message removed by moderator - TB Nice, especially on cheaper rechargeable battery and making other PF parts available. I wonder what change flex track are getting though... changed to "Clearance sale $1 a set" I hope. A few is OK for dealing with odd track geometry but no one really needs more than 10 no matter how big the layout gets. -
Defiantly. 6 wide steam engine with working piston would be a bit challenging. 6 wide ma be fine for simple diesel or electric engine but defiantly not for nice looking model. Go for 7 or 8 wide if you got the parts, time, and patience.

[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests
Lego Otaku replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Heh I got dual GTX 470 in my computer. A single GTX 470 can run circles around any CPU. Ditto on the release. I guess someone at TLG forgot to flip their calendar over so it would still be September over there. Version 4.0 did have improved graphic so... -
[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests
Lego Otaku replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Another feature but I doubt it'd get implemented: multi-core support.I was using the 5 modular building plans and combined them into one file, that is over 10,000 bricks. Then I tried to make a full block out of them with 4 corner buildings and 12 non corner building. I have AMD 1090t that has 6 cores and they are overclocked to 4GHz. But LDD only used max of 16% of CPU or just 1 core and the program was really stuttering when I had half a block done and taking about 5 minutes just to move a building 1 stud over.It looks like my computer starts to slow down at about 15,000 bricks. Most people probably won't have a MOC that uses more than 10,000 bricks, I kind of doubt LEGO would implement multi-core support. -
I want to set them up and display them next to my toy shop (lucky found it cheap on eBay due to typo in title) and the new bakery village when it comes out in a couple days. I missed the train set when it came out while I was in the dark age :( I checked BL, there are only sealed sets up for sale, and I don't want to tear open a sealed box. eBay is no better :P BL did show an average of just under $130 for used set so that will be my offer. I will offer $130 via PayPal for a complete set in USA or Canada. Box is not required but it would be nice. You can check me on Bricklist under ID WILYKAT

and that is barely 1/8th of the total set. I still remember when set containing over 500 pieces were considered huge.
