Got an email from Lego saying they oversold the black gate! Bit of a bugger as i thought id been quick to order it at the 41 pounds sale price. Obviously not quick enough!i remain tempted to get it full price ebay/bricklink. Im brand new to lotr hobbit. Have Orthanc and Unexpected Gathering on order (remains to be seen if order will be fufilled). Im now pondering what other sets to get. Attack on weathertop always appealed for some reason and i love the minifigures in Dol Guldur.

Managed to get a new unexpected gathering set for £60

Took the advice and purchased Orthanc set! Next thing i want to do is build the scene around it with minifigs etc.

Its funny you should mention those sets. They are the other two that really stood out to me. They are out of stock in the online store in the UK. I will have to have a look around!

Hi guys First post. Im new to the forum and pretty new to the AFOL community in general. Back in August i got into the the whole city modular scene and found myself purchasing the pet shop, grand emporium and rather randomly, the reseach insitute. Lately, i have rekindled my love with Middle Earth and have found myself lusting after the rather impressive Tower of Orthanc. Its a purchase i intend to make later this month, presuming its still in stock. I have just been tempted into my first LOTR & Hobbit purchases today however, after seeing Black Gate & Council of Elrond on sale. A couple of smaller sets to dip my toe into the theme. The price point of TBG has previously been a slight detterent. A reduction of around £19 on that and the flower cart promotion finally brought me around.
