Which set is the one you enjoyed building the most?
BlackVagrant replied to BlackVagrant's topic in Community
8078? The 2 sharks at the gates are jumping at me when i'm checking that set. Looks awesome. That's another very detailed set it seems. Build it and share with us here! -
Good idea to set aside a fixed budget like how we usually do for savings. That way we won't feel bad or guilty and has something to look forward every month on Lego!

Just a short poll for everyone in EB Forum. As 2015 kicks in, i see many local Lego stores and mono stores are pretty busy with buyers rushing to get the new 2015 sets and CMF series 13. I wish i can join them in the sweep, but i'm still pretty much trying to keep my monthly spending within the limits. So here i am, wondering how do the rest keep up with Lego expenses.

Good guide by Pandora. In case some of you are unsure, there are 2 methods as shared by Pandora. 1. Embedding use BB code 2. Use image URL from Flickr Refer to 1st post for instructions of both.

I think generally if you compare Lego prices in Singapore against US, you are bound to notice its 70-100% more in retail. Which is why Amazon US doesn't allow Lego to be ship to Singapore just last year 2014 June i believe. Only educational sets still allowed. The USD125 free international shipping is so useful for Lego. (Not anymore) -
Which set is the one you enjoyed building the most?

I am pretty impressed with the Technic series. The mechanics, gears... 6081 and 6285? My knowledge of them are limited. But they sure look awesome. I guess not just the build, but the fond memories of these classic sets that brings many through the dark ages! 7627? Indiana Jones set. The set was discontinued after 1 year it seems. Again, i have limited knowledge of it, but it is pretty awesome set i must say. Haha. Just curious, do most Technic fans go for MindStorms too? Mine is still MISB! Haha. Will be building it some day when i have the space to display it. 10223? I would love to get hold of that Falcon Knight! -

Welcome to EuroBricks! Nice to see fellow Singaporean here. The frantic sweep by Singaporeans yesterday at LCS and monostores are making me drool and deeply poisoned. -
I have space constraint and at the moment i'm trying to restrict myself to smaller modular (though they are quite large as well), and minifigures. I wish i have a room just for Lego. And if i don't have monetary limitations, i'm sure the first MOC i'll do would be the imperial shuttle scene.

Awesome review! Our local stores selling it today in Singapore and it's already out of stock.

I thought you will focus on my first statement instead.

Stumbled into a deserted warehouse full of Lego? On a serious note, putting aside the mandate wish for wealth and health, my dream life would be to be able to enjoy every moments in life. Most of the time we can't ask for things to come, but for what we received, let's not forget those who didn't.

Just a topic to gather some sharing from everyone here in EB forum. Which set you enjoyed building the most? It could be your first set you purchase with year long savings back then, or your first UCS, or a set with the most details, the list goes on.

Just in from The Brick Show. They have reviewed the Detective's Office!

The scale and details are amazing! Looking forward to the final product! Though i haven't got any train collection yet, but i am very interested in getting myself 1 to start off. Now this just gives me more reason to do so.

Where do you keep your Minifigures?

With 13 series and more to come, i wonder how can we showcase all the CMF in time to come. Suggestions? I'll post some photos of my small collection of 8 sets soon. 6 series + Simpsons and Lego Movie. -
Excellent build! Enjoyed watching the video to all the details inside the shop. Perfect replacement for Cafe Corner for those who didn't managed to get 1?

Thank you! My heart is asking me to grow it faster than my wallet allows. :) -
Superb MOC of most if not all of Singapore iconic attractions and landmarks. My top vote goes to Merlion. Changi Airport tower ties with it. But I'll give to Merlion for it carries the birth and history of our nation. Looking forward to more of your MOC. :)

I like your way of thinking. And yes, new year is another good reason to get what we want again! Thank you! -
I was having the same thought as thread starter Albus, and in fact was about to purchase one from a reseller at SGD620 a few weeks back. The following reasons stopped me: Size of box: 59.6 x 58.5 x 17.1cm I tend to believe future buyers will want it mint in sealed box (MISB). So this entails that special care needs to be taken for the box condition, and with this size its not something easy to manage. You probably need to bubble wrap it and if possible "bullet proof" it within another box. Secondly, this should require local pick-up for potential buyers. Postage would be costly and i don't think the box will reach to buyer in good state. (But of course if you got a very good offer and decides to do personal free delivery.) Though one may also argue that this isn't a big issue, since the tendency for most "rich" buyers, would be that they are driving in some form of transport, but not forgetting this would mean that you need to arrange for pick up. (Potential no-show and you have to spend your time waiting for the buyer.) Source of box dimension: http://www.bricklink...m.asp?S=10188-1 Date of release: June 21, 2008 I think one of the key fundamentals of economics, is supply. After 6 years and 6 months from the release date (and counting), i tend to believe that even when Lego decides to stop production and the set eventually becomes discontinued, the price will go up (yes, for sure), but the value would probably not skyrocket in quick succession. Comparing to the 10179 Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon (which was discontinued just shy of 3 years after released), the supply for 10188 Death Star should have potentially double or even tripled since the Lego community would have taken vested interest looking at how much Millennium Falcon managed to fetch after discontinuation. Just a wild guess that those people who doesn't have space or monetary constraint, is probably holding on to at least 2 sets at the moment. Source of millennium falcon: http://lego.wikia.co...llennium_Falcon Source of death star release date: http://lego.wikia.co...0188_Death_Star Contention as Ultimate Collector's Series (UCS): No UCS plaque Okay, i'm sure this will be very contentious whether all UCS should have a plaque. In fact someone (source may not be verified) emailed Lego to enquire about not having a plaque for the Death star, and the following is Lego's reply: Whether this matter of fact may or may not affect the price once it is discontinued, it remains to be seen. Source: http://lego.wikia.co...i/Thread:288611 Nevertheless, the above points are just my opinion and i'm no expert in Lego-vesting. That said 10188 Death Star is definitely one of the must have sets for any Lego collector (even if you are not a fan of Star Wars - who isn't? ). If you already own 1 set and is having second doubts to purchase another for investment, maybe you can try to convince yourself not to be stuck in the dilemma. For you may be holding on to a spare set, but facing a hard time selling it off within your "expected" price in due time.

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie who recently started with strong interest in the colorful world of bricks and stubs. Personally I don't have a large collection of Lego to start with, but I'm pretty sure it will start to balloon at a healthy rate. If time and resource permit, I'll definitely be joining the ranks of reviewers here to post some sets or minifigures. Last but not least a big shout out to all fellow members who are from Singapore. And hope everyone is having a joyful season of Lego-ing, with all the big Lego sets which are self-rewarded as christmas gifts! We all love to have good reasons to spurge on Lego don't we? :)
