A little more detail from Jedi News: http://www.jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=20294

It's from Ikea, the worldwide friend of adult toy collectors. Display is everything if you like to be in the company of ladies. ;) http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20242277/#/00242278

Looks like my guess of Disney jacking up the SW license fees is closer to the truth than we want to believe. This was just spotted at Target:
-
Wow... I like this a lot. Solves several problem I encountered with mine.

I also cannot wait to see the Tyderium. This is one model that I'd love to have the previous version, so TLG is going to have to work overtime to improve upon it. I skipped the current version of the Falcon after watching it wobble all over the place during a video review and hearing rumors of a new version coming out this year. Now that the rumors are true, I hope they nail a design as sturdy as the Star Destroyer. Lord help my wallet if Ep7 is full of new walkers and Lego decides to produce quality sets of them.

I've been messing around with this guy all weekend and after countless versions of the face, this is what I have come up with. There is no interior at this time because I have to redesign the hinges holding the sides to the floor in order to get the proper 2 wide seating. No Technics were used in the construction of the cockpit/head, just ratcheted hinges to achieve the desired angles.

Thank you Artoo Detour. . I think AFOL's forget how fortunate they are to have a line specifically designed for them in UCS sets. Transformers has the Masterpiece line of figures north of $100 to capture the nostalgia of adult collectors precious 80's cartoon figures. Most other toy lines (like GI Joe) have squat for adults and yet the hordes of collectors complain incessantly about how only adults collect them and so they should get what they want. BS. They are toys for ages 4 and up. Bravo Lego for doing both at the same time and having an abundance of product readily available on the shelves.

I agree with this. Let me offer a fresh view as a soon to be 40yr old AFOL who has been collecting Lego for less than 6 months (I have been running a website/forum for 1:18 military toys for +5yrs). I finally cracked and bowed to the Lego gods after staring at the AT-AT display in Target for months in disbelief they could capture it's screen likeness so well. Building it, I was amazed at the complexity in mixing the Technics frame with regular bricks to create the sloping angles with studs out. This immediately led me to pick up the Star Destroyer the same week and was once again amazed at how solid it was and how the whole thing opens up. Play features galore for kids, yet model accuracy for adults. Lego hit the sweet spot on both of these models imho. So I start snooping around Lego forums and researching past sets to see what is out there. Most of what I find looks like crap to my virgin eyes, yet all of the old timers love them and complain about the new sets and their building techniques. This left me scratching my head until I read the complaints about the new highly detailed storm troopers which is when I realized the old dogs were just complaining about change in general because who could possibly be upset about more detailed printing? I have since built R2, Sandcrawler, Slave I and anything that starts with AT on the shelves. As a virgin coming to SW Legos, I have to say I hit at the right time. The golden age. Screen accurate models that are solid, come with amazing figure and my kids can play with them. What more could you possibly want out of a child's toy?

Any parts suggestions for functioning eye flaps so it looks a bit less like Ironman from the front? I'll have to source them since my parts cache is very limited.

[MOC] AT-DP from Star Wars Rebels
pcsguy88 replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very nice! I do like the length of the cockpit on the official one better since it reminds me of an Apache gunship, but your's is much cleaner. I might need to copy those articulated legs for both my DP and ST.- 45 replies

Hey guys, I've only been collecting since September and walkers are where my heart lies. I was disappointed with the lack of a scale AT-ST, so once I saw the AT-DP back in Oct, I knew what needed to be done. Here is what I have so far.
-
My personal opinion for the price hikes is Disney is milking their new cash cow. They paid well for Lucas films and now it's time to collect.
-
After building the Slave 1, I can no longer feel the Sandcrawler should be a $300 set. The Slave 1 is heavier and the instruction book is thicker. I don't know where those extra 1000pcs are.

Good lord this thing is a massive build. I'm thru the first 8 bags plus I skipped ahead and built the stand and my only worry is how flimsy the wings are. Hopefully this will be remedied when the diagnal strut is added. Update: Wings are still too wobbly for my liking with the support struts added. Also, the amount of stickers is ludicrous. I usually do not mind stickers, but there are so many that I'm only using the 2 for the canopy and the 2 cockpit control panels. Huge letdown for something so expensive.

Isn't that the Rebel colors on that polybag? Same orange as my AT-DP box.
-
Disney releases toys months before their animated money makers. I would not be surprised at all if they were ep7 based and the Rebel wolves are being withheld at this time due to spoilers of the next season. Wolves are sneaky.
-
AT-DP is a bit of a letdown, definitely a toy and not a model like the AT-AP. The cockpit/head is great, but the legs are static. Will need to build some functioning joints in there.

Check your Targets if you are in the US. I just grabbed an AT-DP. I'd post a pic, but my phone files are too large.

General Part Discussion
pcsguy88 replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thank you Saber. Mine are from the Sandcrawler, so obviously the top. They seem decent enough to run inside on short carpet and leaving the outside to my aluminum beasts. :) Now to find the right sway arms, road wheels and torsion springs.- 5,465 replies

Does Lego make a functioning sprocket for it's individually linked caterpillar treads? One that is panzer worthy and can be powered by a motor?- 5,465 replies

For those that want the spoilers, they were posted on my forum by another member yesterday. Apparently they have been taken down at the original sites, so that is a pretty good clue they are real. The concept art certainly leads me to believe them. http://www.fighting1...18-post231.html I finally hopped on the Lego Star Wars bandwagon this fall after years of resistance. My love is all things walker based and hope Ep VII gives us some new designs like the coming Rebels DP. Wish that set was out already. What is considered the best AT-ST? Is there one as rigid as the newest AT-AT or AT-AP?
