42083 - Bugatti Chiron
Trace17 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My apologies if this has already been mentioned and I looked back a few pages, but are we expecting this to release worldwide June 1 along with the reveal? Or would the release be at a later date? -
I rebuilt it but had the same issue. So out of sheer curiosity, I decided to build it as pictured to see how it operates. The thing is, now it shifts much more reliably, and I'm not seeing the issue where it hits the 90 point and goes back. I made a video, and out of 38 shifts I count only twice it doesn't hit the 90, but it doesn't hit it initially so maybe I didn't pull back all the way. So what am I missing here? I don't want to proceed until it feels right, but also where problems aren't going to manifest later that aren't necessarily showing now.

Alright, so I switched the changeover catches and the left paddle gets caught about 50% of the time. The right one gets caught every once in awhile, but far fewer times, maybe 1 in 50. Although when/if it does, I'm screwed because I can hardly get to the parts to fix it. Anyway, this happens a lot and I'm guessing I am doing something wrong or I placed something wrong in building it. Any advice? If needed, I can try and take another video or more photos http://i.imgur.com/5DLLyB5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ct0L0FE.jpg

Thank you both, I will proceed then and hopefully all will be fine. Didumos, Yes thanks to all the wonderful people here I have been keeping tabs on the mods and what I will implement. I don't post much, but rest assured I read things quite often. Of the list of 7 mods in the OP, I've already done number 1, (I used a later suggestion to use "half bushing", not sure on the exact term but 4 smaller ones instead of 2 standard ones). I will also be doing 2 and 4 for sure, and I will also be removing the pins that will add a tiny bit more to the steering. I'm not sure if I have the parts for some of the other mods like HOG. so I may not implement. For #3, was it ever posted how that affected the body and the final build. There's a post by Appie here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=133743&st=25#entry2577539 and talks about how it affects it but I couldn't find any picture of what needs to be done (in what Appie refers to), and since I'm no technic expert and a visual person, I'm not sure to what exactly you mean. Is this the additional part needed (with 2x4 liftarm supertechnicmans put in video) http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.pageP=32316#T=S&C=11&O={"color":11} and is there a picture of this anywhere?

Preface: I'm no technic expert so I'm trying to use terminology used in the above posts. I just got to this step tonight and I was baffled by the 2L axle connector (the darker grey "receiving" piece) is at a 45 degree angle but shown at 180 horizontal in the instructions. I believe as Didumos69 mentions above that this is an impossible configuration. So my question is, do I need to leave it in this 45 degree configuration, rotate it 180 (so it's at the other 45)? Or something else? And do I need to do anything special to compensate for this when building the next gear selection unit through 173? Reading Attika's post makes me think I should leave it all as is and continue. Here's my current progress:

Yep, Big Ben is June 15th VIP, with public July 1. Which is why rumors were the beetle would be July 15 VIP/August 1. If it is the beetle, we'll probably know in the next couple weeks. The past two years timeline: Mini Cooper: Announced June 4, VIP release July 18, public August 1 Ferrari F40: Announced June 25, VIP release July 15, public August 1

42056 - Porsche Speculation
Trace17 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's pretty standard behavior. Unfortunately the online store varies wildly in how long it takes for things to go on sale. And all the new items for June 1 switched to "coming soon" so it's not specific to the Porsche set. -

I haven't seen any mention of this on display at NY Toy Fair. Is this not going to be released in the US?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 13 Rumours and Discussion
Trace17 replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Swung by Wal-mart today on the way home on a whim. I was shocked to see a freshly-stocked display. Made sure to grab the Hot Dog guy and unicorns as well as a few others. I have a handful coming in a shop@home order and after that I'll get any remaining ones I need. -

I found the last 3 bags from a case on Dec 24 at a Target, and have not seen them again since then. But I've only looked at 3 targets/4 Walmarts in the past two weeks. Have any been spotted at Walgreens or Barnes & Noble? -
Just wanted to thank you for the detailed pics and solution here. I got my set about 6 weeks ago and built it last week. As the instructions go, the plate felt like it was less-than-desirably secure, and bent ever so slightly. So I dug around and found a spare 2L axle and implemented your solution and it worked wonderfully. Thanks again!
