On sale? Baaa Canada not US, at ~$150usd I'd have been tempted too. Maybe I should crack open the pair of 60051s instead.

Train Bridge - for that canal or something...

In case you are looking for another bridge challenge: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Cod_Canal_Railroad_Bridge -
As someone who works for a large company, this is so true :)

But it never delivers the beer....
-
So about $160 in the US then...

Thanks nfl_solo. What parts do you think you'll need to make a third middle car from the second set?
-
Thanks Spock. I've spend the evening looking at a PDF of the instructions, and building out the third car won't need a lot of parts, and none of them are rare / unusual. Will one PF motor in the front be sufficient, or should I use the second motor in the rear engine, and tie it into the same PF control channel. I'm thinking two motors will be needed.

Nice. Reminds me of 10002 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=10002-1, and for the same price I can almost buy a 60051 - but it does provide a suggestion to work with. Thx

Looking to build a long high speed. I thinking of getting two of the 60051s. This will obviously get me one extra car, and I'm pretty sure a second car, but I'm wondering how many additional bricks I'd need to squeeze out a third car. Is it a small amount, or am I just better off sticking with the two extra cars. Thx

We lost the two junctions we have in 60052, but we also gained a lower price ~$150 Vs $200

I've a 4yr old who loves playing with my Lego trains (just the red and blue cargo trains... so far), and there are three things he enjoys doing with them: just watching the train go around in a loop changing directions, and changing speeds - but not the precision control needed for shunting flipping the switches to change where the train goes - this goes to you set having the train get stuck on the inner loop What I would change on you setup, for my kid (every kid is different) is to drop the shunting yard, and have several loops that the trains can go between with flipping switches, but never get trapped in a loop and reverse out - sorry, I don't have a particular layout to suggest - have fun!

Seriously jealous!

Any guess on when it will hit the shelves? And what price range? In time for my July birthday would be great :)

Top Lego trains and newbe first impressions.

OH! Interesting idea! Hmmmm..... Thx, I think... :) -
It is not unusual for companies to spread the news out over time, that way you end up with more time in the press. Instead of one big announcement, make three or four smaller ones, and the net is a lot more blog posts and chatter about you and your products.

Kids & Lego: My son strips the cargo train cars down to the deck, and builds up what ever strikes his fancy, and then drive it around the track. I think he'd get a thrill out of andythenorth's HUGH loop. Clearly more straight track is in my future. Damn you Andy!!! :p

I too ordered a train from Amazon UK in December, it arrived, but the packaging and Lego box were destroyed. Fortunately the shrink wrap that was applied at some point held everything together so nothing was missing.
-
I think so. Amazon.co.uk has it for 94gbp, so €91 is a cheap buy - assuming you have use for it. But even just for the track and Power Functions parts it is a fair deal.

Other new Lego releases: http://imgur.com/a/2LRtm No train pictures, sorry

Buy additional 60594 for you existing carriages so they don't stand out so much.

You are mis-reading :(

Did you win the Lotto? :p

Give that you already have the 60052, maybe you should look at some of the other no longer sold City Cargo trains like the 3677, 7939, 7898 (older 9v) and 4512 (older 9v). Depending on the set, and your location, these can be more affordable then the Maersk. Sure the Maersk is a nice build, but it is expensive IMO. If you do pickup the older 9v sets you will have a little challenge on your hands converting the trains to the current Power Functions controls - this is assuming you want to run them on the current all plastic rails. You can run the current Power Functions based train on 9v tracks - or you can sell/trade the 9v track to someone who prefers it. Santa brought us the 60052, and recently I picked up a used 3677 for a fair price from eBay. And I'm keeping an eye on a used 7939 on bricklink, I like the carriages (and more track is always good), less so the engine - it is based off an electric engine, and the 60052 and 3677 are diesels - if I get it, I'll tweak it to fit with the others. Long stort short, are you buying to play with, or to display?
