1. Thanks! Green is my favourite colour and I've been waiting and watching for new elements to come out in this colour for ages. No reason for the IR remote. It was just to hand when I made it! I suppose it gives a bit more control than an onboarding switch.
2. Thanks for all the kind words! I see what you mean. In fact now I look at at, this may have been the original intention! Thanks for the comment. I guess it's personal preference, but I much prefer a combination of manual and electric. One of my goals was to only use one motor. Besides, I don't think any more would fit!
3. Hello Lego enthusiast. I'd like to share my latest MOC with you all. The MAN Hooklift truck. The truck is based of the MAN TGS series with fully working hooklift mechanism. It took a long time to figure out the mechanics to make this work to a reasonably realistic level. I'd like to give a huge shout out to @efferman for the inspiration. My model features a a fake inline 6 engine powered by rear differentials, HOG steering, tilting cab, opening doors and of course a fully functioning hooklift. The hooklift is powered with one large PF motor and an IR receiver. The main functions are switchable by a gearbox and selector switch situated just beneath the container behind the cab. It was a big challenge to generate enough power from the large PF motor by gearing down in a very tight space. I doubt there is enough power to lift the container loaded with anything more than cotton wool! The cab is styled with a Model Team aesthetic with a complete interior consisting of seats, steering wheel and dash. I am particularly proud of the styling although, this wasn't without its challenges. The green I chose could possibly have the least amount of useful elements of any Lego colour. And the round arch brick used for the front fenders only come in a very small handful of colours. Hence the Dark Bluish grey. I can't even begin to tell you how many iterations of headlights I went through! I'm still not 100% satisfied with them, but it was the most simple solution I could come up with to create the angles required. Anyway, enough of my waffling. I'll let some photos do the work... I also made a couple of amateur videos demonstrating the functions! This was the reference I used. Along with many others of the same truck. Link to Efferman's model: CUSTOMBRICKS.de - LEGO Technic model Custom RC TGS hook lift for container - MOC Custombricks MOC Instruction I hope you like it. As ever, comments and constructive criticism is always welcome.
4. Check out this thread over in the LDD forum. Because Lego stopped supporting LDD the parts are basic and newer elements don't get added. So some clever people worked out how to add them. Hope this helps.
5. Yeah. That was my thinking. It's mainly the new tires I wanted anyway .
6. If anyone is in the UK, Argos are selling the e-tron 42160 for £82. It's a 'black friday' thing so probably won't last long. I am tempted as it looks like a good parts donor. But I'm not sold on the control app stuff.
7. Amazing. No inconvenience caused. Thanks for the awesome work!
8. Hi. Thanks for the amazing work on the LDD parts update. With the latest update (version 20231023) I have a few bricks showing error. It just shows a generic 2x2 brick with an exclamation mark. I can't list them as LDD also unexpectedly just closes on me now. Any idea how to fix this? Many thanks in advance.
9. This is rather nice. I like the shaping you managed to create on the rear end. And the use of the mudguard piece over the headlights is very clever. I think the front wheel arch could do with a bit of tweaking. It feels a bit blocky compared with the rest of the build. All in all its a thumbs up from me!
10. It might be a bit difficult to implement. But could you use some struts like this?
11. This is true. I didn't take that into consideration. However, the frame could be modified to fit.
12. This is coming along nicely . I have a suggestion regarding all those bevel gears in the lift mechanism. You can get rid of a few of them with this setup: With this all the mini LA's will be rotating in the same direction and will have less friction due to less gears.
13. I like the way this is going. I think it belongs in this forum, but I'd imagine it would fit the creator forum too. I'd say PF over PU but only because I think it integrates with Technic better. And I don't like all this smart phone enabled stuff. Looking forward to seeing more progress for sure.
14. This is really intriguing and with such lovely movement. I might have to have a go at reverse engineering it! Thanks for sharing it.
15. Ha ha . thanks for the explanation. Shapeways here I come!
16. Thanks @Jundis . I did try those panels. In fact I ordered some especially for it, but somehow I didn't like them. I might post a picture with them on for comparison. This part would indeed work and would be very useful. But I just can't go over to the dark side! (if only Lego would take note!) Thanks for all the comments guys.
17. Thank you. I'd be delighted if Sennebogen wanted to buy it. I once made a Huddig backhoe and they contacted me asking to buy it. They didn't in the end as my asking price was too high!
18. Thanks for your comments. I don't have any lime so I had to go with yellow. I also tried adding more panels to the arm but the extra weight ment it was too heavy for the actuator to lift. If I changed the gearing ratio it might work but I couldn't find any space inside to do that. The outriggers are geared through a worm gear hence the slow speed. I'd still say they're faster than the 42009 though
19. Thanks. I suppose if you put a couple of motors in the under carriage they might fit. But then where to put the battery box? Personally I prefer the challenge of only using one motor and figuring out the gearbox.
20. I'd prefer green! Thanks Good question. I don't know. There were some long periods where I didn't work on it at all. I just know it's been stuck on my lego desk for a very long time!
21. Greetings Euro brickers. I am proud to present my model of the Sennebogen 817 E. This model has taken about a year and a half (if not longer) to finish. And to be honest, I'm glad it's over! Let me start by listing the functions: four wheel steering via HOG on the back. outriggers (motorized). 360 degree rotation of upper carriage (motorized). Cabin raising and lowering (motorized). Fully functional arm (motorized). Orange peel grab (motorized). All the motorized functions are multi directional via the red switches on the top using one PF large motor. I had many challenges along the way. The main problem to solve was bracing all the gears to stop the dreaded clicking. Unfortunately I started this project before the 'flip flop' beams were introduced. This probably would have made life a little easier, but I have no intention of starting again! The upper carriage is also a bit wobbly and I would have liked to build some kind of 'track' for it to turn on. The 'banana gears' are too big and I couldn't come up with a decent solution. Also, the lower actuator of the arm could do with being geared down a bit to give it more power. But again I couldn't find a solution due to space issues. I'd also only realised this problem when the main upper structure was completed and I started working on the arm. All in all the model turned out pretty well. But I realise there are a few differences between this and the real machine. I think the proportions are a little off and its obviously yellow not green.... I decided to use the orange peel grab from set 42006. It fits pretty well if not a little small. One of the biggest challenges I had was taking decent pictures. I only have my phone camera and I couldn't get many decent shots due to the size. Fortunately I did manage to edit a mediocre video... All the functions are in real time, so I apologise if it's a bit long... Thanks for looking. And as always, constructive criticism welcome. 22. I just ordered some Zetros tires, new VW Camper Van tires and some of the new 3L pins from the Darth Vader Meditation chamber. Very much looking forward to a new MOC session!
