  1. Smaug is pretty great! He also is a little larger than I was expecting which is even better. By the way your display case looks great! I need some shelving like that to display my sets.
  2. Yeah, I would have liked to see a much larger structure and just get rid of the launcher. We already had a launcher in the Helm's deep wall we don't need another one.
  3. Yes, LOTR is definately a better theme for AFOL. However, LOTR is still a castle like theme so I think that even for those kids who haven't seen the movies some of the sets are still good. Lego should have stuck to more of the castle structures such as Osgiliath and Minas Tirith. Sets like the council of elrond are not appealing to those who aren't fans of the movies.
  4. I couldn't agree more. I keep hearing how LOTR didn't sell well because the kids don't like it. Well then they could have done one of two things. They could either direct at AFOL's and make the sets bigger and better, or they could have made the sets with more creatures and army builders that would attract the kids, and cheaper sets. Most of the LOTR sets have been in the 30-80 dollar price range which doesn't attract a lot of kids. You need more sets in the 10-25 price range if you want to get more kids in on the theme. Personally I think that they should have done more ultimate collectors series sets like tower of orthanc which has sold very well. They really should have done a Minas Tirith similar to this one: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275. I think that there sales would be good on ultimate collectors series sets, which would allow them to get good detail on the sets.
  5. This set looks great! I wish that lego would produce this in a set.
  6. The battle of five armies set is priced at $59.99 US, but I agree that it still is overpriced. The set probably should retail at more like $49.99.
  7. I agree with Blakstone, I think that if you are army building you should go with the Mirkwood Army. However, if you are looking to build a forest or need lots of brown pieces I would get the Attack of the Wargs set.
  8. I haven't purchased the sets yet, but based off of images I was thinking the same thing. The BOFA sets just doesn't seem to have enough for the price that is paid. I would like to have multiples to build a larger city of dale, but the other problem is is there aren't any figures in the set worth getting multiples of. Over half the characters are main characters not army builders.
  9. Yeah, they sure look like Uruk Hai to me.
  10. I agree. with the right approach to this license I think that it could be great. It would do a lot better if they would put more focus on the creatures and army builders. If this is the end, it was a good run while it lasted.
  11. Not sure if I am to excited about the new bionicle. I was a huge fan of the originals and grew up collecting them, but I like the originals too much to get hooked on collecting these new ones.
  12. All I have to say is what a disappointing wave of sets. I know they are trying to target the younger generation with this wave, but they could have done a lot better.
  13. Are you talking about the actual "The One Ring" web page or is this a discussion topic?
  14. Do you have a link to that page?
  15. For any of you Lego Hobbit/LOTR fans here is a Minas Tirith https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275 set that I have found on Lego Ideas that I think you might like. Might be our best chance at getting a Lego Minas Tirith.
  16. If Lego could make just four more LOTR sets I would hope that we would get: 1. Minas Tirith - Armored Cave troll, Gondor Soldiers, Gondor Rangers - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275 2. Phelenor Fields - Witch King, Fell Beast, Eowyn - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/19148 3. Osgiliath - Faramir, Gondor Soldiers, Gondor Rangers - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/75997 4. Balrog - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/70624
  17. I thought that this looks more like a $200-300 set. I'm not sure what the piece count is, but I could be wrong. It doesn't look like it is as big as the death star.
  18. My list: 1. Witch King 2. Fell Beast 3. Faramir 4. Eowyn 5. Gondor Soldier 6. Armored Tan Cave Troll 7. Gondor Ranger 8. Haradrim Realistically all of these could be done in one set: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275
  19. The only thing good about this wave is some of the army builders (Storm Troopers, Battle Droids, and Wookies) outside of that the sets overall are pretty awful. Probably get three of these sets for army builders.
  20. Wish I could afford to build something like this. Your set looks great! I agree that it could be white, but I also understand it would be difficult to get the right pieces in right and would probably cost you twice as much. Wish we could get one of these projects on Lego Ideas approved so that we might have a chance at getting A Minas Tirith set. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275 https://ideas.lego.com/projects/70809
  21. That is one thing that lego could have done a better job of doing. They needed to make sets that would be appealing to both Lord of the Rings fans and Lego castle fans. They should have built sets that would be more popular among Lego LOTR fans and non-LOTR fans alike.
  22. I wouldn't want Minas Tirith to look exactly like https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275 but it is the best chance we have of getting a Minas Tirith set to 10000. Since when had Lego taken a Lego Ideas project and made it identical piece for piece anyways?... Not sure why people are worried so much by what Lego Ideas projects look like you are voting more for the idea than the exact design.
  23. Seeing how the word for the petition doesn't seem to be spreading I think that this set is are last good chance at possibly getting a Minas Tirith set: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275
  24. I think you should post this on Lego Ideas this set is great!! The only other Minas Tirith that is getting even relatively close is https://ideas.lego.com/projects/36275 and even then it has a little while to go. Your version is probably my favorite! Has a great variety of minfigs plus it isn't to oversized. Plus for the true fans they could buy multiples of this set and make something bigger if they want. I think that you would have good support from both LOTR and non-LOTR fans.
