Hopefully we finally get a Boss Nass in one of those episode 1 sets.

First off when does Lego's license expire with LOTR? I have never seen anything official saying when it expires. Second, I wasn't saying that Lego is extending their contract or that they were making the set. I was just pointing out that according to Lego their are currently no conflicts or issues with making this product.

Here is the offical Lego comment just posted on the Osgiliath project https://ideas.lego.com/projects/84994 on Lego Ideas: Welcome to the 1k Club! At this milestone, we’ve done a preliminary check with licensing regarding your project and see no known conflicts or issues. You have been green lighted to keep growing supporters; we will do a more detailed check if you reach 10,000 supporters and qualify for the LEGO Review. Keep up the good work! For those worried about LOTR licensing issues on Ideas projects it doesn't appear to be a problem.

I hope that Lothlorien stays on the main page and makes it to the review stage too. However, in order to reach the same review stage as Minas Tirith it would have to get to 10000 by the end of the month. That means that it would have to get approximately 1,500 votes per week for the next four weeks, which is nearly impossible.

Great! I am very excited to see what ended up as the finalists.
-
Now it's waiting time until the review results come out in May or June...
-
Down to 200 it will probably make it tomorrow considering the news letter going out. There is always a spike in support when the news letter goes out every week. I expect to see a large spike for Lothlorien as well. Hopefully Lothlorien will get the same momentum that Minas Tirith received so that it can reach 10000 as well.

For all of you LOTR fans and AFOL's who don't think that your voice is heard by Lego, here is an opportunity to share your opinion with lego through their survey: http://lego.fluidsurveys.com/s/Q4_2014/ I know that many of the AFOL's who want more LOTR sets, feel like Lego doesn't listen to what they want. This may be your chance.

I noticed that as well, if we could get multiple projects to 10000 it would really show Lego that there is a demand for more Lord of the Rings sets. I sure hope that Lego has a surprise third wave in store. We will know for sure by January when Lego introduces its summer sets at the toy fairs.

I have to agree a little bit, this thread was suppose to be for 2014 hobbit sets, now it just seems to be talk about anything hobbit in general.
-
I would have to agree with you. Lego has made a couple really good sets (Orthanc and Bag End) that have sold very well and others that have sold very poorly(because of poor design). I think that Minas Tirith would probably sell almost as well as Orthanc, it would also be a nice replacement for Orthanc when it gets retired. I honestly think it would be cool for Lego to start an ultimate collector series LOTR line and just release one or two large sets every year.

I was just looking on Lego Ideas and LOTR/Hobbit have four of the top ten "popular this week" projects on Lego's main page #2 - Minas Tirith #4 - Osgiliath #6 - Lothlorien (Also currently the staff pick) #10 - Dale Looks like the popularity of LOTR/Hobbit is increasing on Lego Ideas.
-
I'm with you, it would be nice to get some more sets, but Minas Tirith feels like the only thing that is really missing.
-
I believe there was a sandcrawler that reached 10000 on Lego Ideas, and Lego ended up making it into a set so hopefully the same will happen with Minas Tirith.

Speaking of Galadriel this is the new staff pick on Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/70260

Battle of Osgiliath - https://ideas.lego.com/projects/84994 Thanks Wesker, I have to say that, that is one of the better Osgiliaths I have seen.
-
Yes, it would be nice to have armored elves, but we also have had way to many elves it feels like at this point. Haldir, Legolas(multiple versions), Thranduil, Elrond(multiple versions), Tauriel, Galadriel, Mirkwood elves(multiples in the mirkwood army set). I would have to say that we need some army building dwarves before we should have seen any more elves.
-
I would have to agree that Bolg and Iron Hill dwarves are the only ones that feel missing. It would have been nice to get some sort of Iron Hill Dwarves army builder set.
-
Good point maybe we can get bionicle parts to custom make the Balrog.
-
Yes, Minas Tirith would be a nice touch to finish off the theme and get the last of the missing charcters.
-
At this point I would agree with anyone that a third wave is not likely and it wouldn't benefit TLG as far as sales go. However, I think that a large Minas Tirith set would sell very well to AFOL and the one set by itself wouldn't take up that much shelf space for LEGO. Also with the Tower of Orthanc being a pretty good seller, I think this would be a great replacement set for Orthanc when it is retired.
-
Yeah, it would be great if it could make it there by the end of the next review period at the end of the year. They are still selling it here in the U.S. it is available on Lego.com, at my local Lego store, and is also still available from Target, Wal-mart, and Amazon.

Here is a really cool version of the City of Dale I just found on Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/84783 I wish Lego would have made a set like this in their most recent release.
-
I will accept that LOTR is finished once we see the summer 2015 sets at the toy fair in January and the Minas Tirith Ideas set gets approved/disapproved by Lego. If there are no LOTR sets at the toy fair and and Minas Tirith isn't approved I think it would be easy to say that the line is finished. Until then I will hold on to the last thread of hope.

Thank You IvanStorm I agree. If you don't like the discussion, then don't read or comment on it. Even though there may not be any more sets its still a good discussion, and until Lego disapproves of the Minas Tirith set on Ideas I am still holding out hope for at least one more set.
