  1. This is my subjective opinion but I think the T-6 has been iconic in the show, we have spent a ton of time in the ship and it has so many potential play features based off of things it did on screen that Lego couldn't capitalize on at an 80$ scale, it's frustrating to see that ship and know I am not buying it above 60$ and I am only buying it so I don't miss out on the Huyang figure. It's slim odds they remake the T-6 in 5 years but imo it was worthy of a similar price slot to the ghost. My best odds of getting a decent T-6 are hoping for an overpriced UCS monstrosity that kicks up into the 4-600 dollar range, even though this ship could be done well for far less, IMO the interior could be executed better than the Razor-crest or Ghost because of the simpler layout. Anyways, the T-6 is a bummer for me, and I really don't like the fighter sets this year eating up the higher price slots, shin's ship should have been a small throwaway 30$ set like that pirate thing, the ghost is also frustrating because of the canopy sticker, I don't mind all the other detail stickers and that set has a bunch, but the iconic WW2 bomber look comes from the canopies on the front of the ship, and it's frustrating that all the other ships got printed canopies, knowing how mediocre the T-6 wound up being they should have just given that a sticker canopy so the ghost could have printed or sacrificed one if not both the irrelevant new republic mini-figs to print the canopy. At the end of the day it's fine it's just a toy the ghost will look cool on my shelf and I will buy the T-6 discounted and hope for a remake in the future. Half the game with lego is the random nature of which sets wind up amazing and which wind up being immediate "I'll wait for the remake" sets. It's just a bummer that random ships like the Scythe wind up being masterpieces when there are plenty of other more iconic ships that could have used one or two more design passes. The T-6 has been the perfect jedi "home-ship", so many fun features are built for a jedi, it's like a jedi batmobile.
  2. Yeah, I don't think Lego will do many other Ahsoka sets, which is why I am frustrated with some of the choices made for this wave, overall I still think its a great wave. I think the police gunship has decent odds, maybe it could be a clone wars themed set, or bad batch? but I would like it to be Ahsoka. That's a good point about the Tales of the Jedi. I forgot about the costume retcon in that show. I think the live action interpretation is my favorite though, the robe colors, armor and curly hair make him look the most heroic that any jedi has ever looked imo (in a Grand Army of the Republic propaganda way, you can totally envision him as the poster boy for the war), the Rex figure accidentally looks dead-on to the live action version so maybe we get lucky with a similar Anakin, honestly I want both versions of Anakin that we saw in world between worlds. on a side note related to sets from this year, I have been waiting for someone to post the Yavin base set with a falcon or ghost in there, seems like it might all scale well.
  3. I don't really like fighter combo sets, I would love an individual tie interceptor but I couldn't care less about the mando fighter. Similarly, I think the E-wing would outsell Shin's fighter by a wide margin if sold separately, not to mention Shin's fighter is way too big. Having that combo take up a 110 slot is frustrating when the T-6 could have greatly improved from a larger budget. The whole Mando S3 crab thing is a perfect example of an inaccurate build for an inconsequential vehicle based on a nokia phone pic of the concept art taken from 10 feet away, it's no surprise lego padded that set out with excellent arm printed figures and a ninjago sword to help sales, they make 1 minor improvement to mando with each new set lol.
  4. I think it's also a Lego problem, if Lego didn't leak so bad LF might have trusted them with better stuff.
  5. I so badly want them to do a CW armor Anakin based on his live action look with arm-printed jedi pauldrons. The fact that they based Padme off early CW has me hopeful. But also they seem to be really leaning into Phase 2 clones so I have no idea what versions of the main trio they would release. It's a bummer that all of the new republic figures in the Ahsoka wave seem to be nobodies, and the fighters seem pretty throwaway too. I doubt shin's ship appears again, and the E-wing seems like just a cameo for the fans. I still think the ghost and T-6 are great playsets, though I really wish they would have put the T-6 in a higher price slot so we could have had an interior and double sided wing, it's become such an iconic ship for me.
  6. Fair nuff, it was probably just something they did for fun then, as you said they have no way to gauge interest in it, being a gwp and all, so they bounce around to different concepts.
  7. I bet they do stuff like that to gauge interest and demand. Seems like a harmless way to experiment, they might have plans to sell them at some point, similar to the helmet sets.
  8. Do we know how costly it is for lego to marble plastic? I think they did marbled transparency in some ninjago waves, it's not something I have seen often.
  9. I don't think it's insignificant that most all OT era imperial stuff is leaving shelves this year, I think the only imperial items left on shelves after this year will be the bomber and interceptor.
  10. I really like the Padme and Palpatine figures, also it's interesting that all the sets with obi-wan are retiring plus there is a new rex. It has me hopeful that we might be getting the remaining clone wars era characters in sets next year. It was also really cool that they made a new hairpiece for Luke this year in the final duel set, it's definitely more accurate to his appearance in ROTJ, although in the current mando-verse they cleaned up the shag. I would love if lego made a new hairpiece for Anakin, depending on which version of him they release next he is my top figure for new hairpiece treatment. They have used that CW era piece for too long, it perfectly matched the art style of the first few seasons, but in live action his hair is wavy/curly and I think they could do a really good job if they make a new piece. Despite my frustrations with Ahsoka's shuttle I think it scales almost perfectly with the Ghost. The Ghost is a great set, and I will probably get it, there are just a few little details that really bug me: The set has wayyyy too many stickers, but the sticker on the cockpit instead of a print is the most frustrating, the cockpit should have had a print similar to the T-6, it does a lot to give it that "flying fortress" bomber look. I can live with the gaps in the front, because the set looks so good from so many angles, but I really wish the thrust had been yellow.
  11. It's just opinion but for me armored figures with arm printing look so much better, also the torso print on the 2013 was messy unless I was close up on it, my biggest praise of this new design is that it still looks coherent from a distance. The print on the helmet is also much better to me, bigger mouthpiece and stuff. It's no reason to buy a UCS set, but if this shows up in a set next year I will most likely get it, I am really hoping to do a minimalist CW era display depending on what releases next year.
  12. The Rex complaints feel disingenuous and petty. He is vastly superior to the old figure. I owned that one for a bit but I've been dreaming of armored characters getting arm printing for years and finally LEGO is caving and giving us more and more arm printing. IMO Rex is the best clone fig to date, the graphic design is way cleaner than the old one and I never liked cloth kamas, minifigs get cluttered too easily and I would rather have solid prints than cloth goods. I also would be shocked if he didn't show up in next summers wave. Do we have any confirmation on what sort of clones will be in the Grogu escape set? I am very curious about that one, especially if it has a little bit of temple structure. I figured it would be shock troopers but I think lego has that covered in the battle pack, it might be normal 501st.
  13. I know nobody likes the Yavin Base very much but I feel like it might go well with the ghost or the falcon, definitely the falcon since you get the entire OT crew. I also love the midi scale Y-wing it probably works well with the freighters and shuttles, I wish we would get an entire line of fighters at that scale. I also expect the Yavin base to go on huge sales in a year. IMO Ahsoka will wind up being the most pivotal D+ show as far as setting up an era for more star wars movies, and I really hope we get more sets from the show, Baylan absolutely needs a do-over, he needs to be taller, and have some sort of dedicated beard/hair piece haha. Also his and shin's hair should be a matching white imo, sometimes it's really frustrating how many little details they miss out on from having to work off of early art, because they also based Huyang off his animated appearance because his coloring in live action is significantly different. This is all nitpicky stuff but it's just kinda frustrating since it's gotta be easy to adjust these things and Lego has been incrementally improving mando stuff since that line started, each new set sees 1 improvement to the figure or one of his accessories. I also think it's safe to say more clone wars era stuff is coming, judging by whats retiring this year I think next year will put most if not all of the Clone Wars cast back on shelves, but we will see. A lot of stuff is retiring this year, it has me excited.
  14. I completely understand and I mostly agree, but I do think certain UCS sets built to feature minifgures should have them: Razorcrest, AT-AT, and the Falcon all three of which also have top tier interiors, they're super play-sets really. Also IMO a $300-ish UCS is sorta the only hope we have at this point to get a better T-6 with an actual interior and certain minifig recolors, I fall more and more in love with that ship each episode. I wish they had given the $130 slot to the T-6 instead of the skeleton crew ship. I am still going to buy the 80$ one for now but I need Lego to make a better version down the road.
  15. This is a big reason I am personally against the notion of highly exclusive mini-figures in UCS sets, it just translates to LEGO always having an excuse to do bare minimum for play-scale minifigs, it's consumers playing themselves. IMO the UCS line is primarily about vehicle accuracy which means large scale and tons of pieces and $$. Play-scale stuff is more for play features and minifigures and all that fun stuff we enjoyed as kids. I will grant that exclusive minifigures make sense for UCS sets designed with a full interior like the razorcrest or a master builder series set like the cantina. The Venator is a beautiful model though, I forgot how much I love the design, it makes me wish Thrawn's ship was something unique and custom like an old venator instead of a boring ISD.
  16. The tile and stud mixture on the hull is probably the cleanest I have ever seen on a UCS, the proportions look great and I do love the colors. Size and Budget of the UCS line is way out of my league but I am always hopeful that a UCS version increases odds we might get a 'playscale' version in a year or so.
  17. Yeah that makes sense, in the past they have done it a few times with Gideon's Cruiser or the Justifier, but its never guaranteed, For now I will definitely hold off the E-wing, if we get to the end of 2024 without and it's looking like the only way to get those 3 characters I will reconsider but for now I will wait and see.
  18. Jang's reviews are starting to drop and IMO he has always had the most holistic view on Lego since he reviews most of their other lines. Jang brought up a great point about the limitations of initial D+ waves: Lego can't control their leaks and so they have limited access to show details, and are given the least consequential sets to make first based on rough concept art. Huyang's coloring really supports this, also it's clear at this point that the E-wing set was based on two ships of little consequence in unrelated scenes. I doubt they will be featured beyond the scenes they were already in. The more juicy stuff will be in the back half of the season, and it's fair speculation that it may lead to a large capital ship set, but we will know more in a few weeks. It's no guarantee that we will get more ahsoka sets and even if we do, it's anyone's guess which minifigs will get re-used, if any. But also waiting on sets is never risky since we tend to get plenty of warning before a set retires. With that in mind I will pass on the E-wing set, I think the odds are decent that we will get 2-3 of the main villains in a better set down the road. The only must have for me is the Ghost, even if they made a UCS version I wouldn't have the budget or shelf space for it, and the play-set version seems as good as its ever going to get. And then I am torn on the T-6: there was a much better version of this ship in the 140-160 price range, and I am entirely buying it for figures. From reddit posts it does seem to display ok next to the ghost, and it seems like it will remain an iconic ship moving forward. I dunno
  19. Great take, I also feel this way about the show and it's relation to andor, I remember that in the early days of andor everyone was dog-piling the hate train to try and pull apart those early episodes, AK-47 blasters and boring pacing or "not star wars", but then after "one way out" and luthen's speech nobodies complaints held water and the show has cemented itself as high-quality TV. I think ahsoka is on a similar trajectory, it's low hanging fruit to nitpick early stuff because it's starting slow and establishing a new direction and folding in animated series lore. But the trajectory is set to build to incredible heights and it's already kicking into gear with Ep3. This is my favorite star wars outside of Andor, it really feels like Star Wars "The Next Generation" for me haha. I also think this is one of the better LEGO waves, but I 100% agree with your disappointment. Ahsoka's shuttle was the biggest misstep, it could have been scaled up to fit with the falcon cockpit and have a full interior which could have been accessed in the same way the current one is with those roof panels flipping up, it also had the potential to have one of the most sensible boarding ramps/side hatch play features. Now I am left hoping we get a UCS of the ship, but that seems so far fetched considering the ghost is probably first in line for that treatment, but I would rather have a UCS T-6 after how well we are getting to know the ship in this show. I will still get the T-6 and Ghost, they will go great together on my shelf. But I will wait to see if Baylan and Shin get better releases next year. I do still think there is a chance we get the Jedi Shuttle, maybe as a CW era set or as Baylan Skoll's shuttle, I really want LEGO to take another pass at Baylan and Shin minifigs. Next summer feels like the last chance to fill out Ahsoka sets.
  20. eh, the rest of the graphic design on rex is so much better than the original IMO that I can put up with the kama prints.
  21. it's all subjective opinion but this feels like mostly a nostalgia take, arm printing was nonexistent back then, and dual molding seemed just as scarce, same with boot printing, it was a peak for clone wars army builder content sure, but I prefer modern builds to the ones from back then, and the figures over all are a lot better, way more arm printing these days. For example, I like the new rex a lot more than the old rex, I think the design is more refined. To each their own though. The one valid whinge IMO would be the print QC issues, and lego will probably ignore those ever happened even after they get their HP Laserjet fixed, like nintendo with joycon drift, but that's just how companies be.
  22. I really love the coruscant guard gunship and I am excited for reviews to start coming in. The set scales great with minifigs, it's got minimal stickers and the colors are beautiful. I hope the forward compartment is useful, can't tell if its tall enough for figures or not, also it would be really neat if Reviewers show what different clone legions look like in this set. Obviously the shocktroopers will pair the best but I wonder if the 501st would look okay, the blue might contrast nicely with the deep red. I will wait to see which other CW/BB era figures and sets are released next year, but if I do a CW themed display I might base it around this vehicle.
  23. that is a bummer, I love everything else about this set, IMO it's still ok since the wings can be rotated to feature the good side from any display angle and I sort of prefer the more horizontal wing positions than the vertical ones where this issue might be more glaring.
  24. For sure, I know about his inclusion in that set, it just seemed odd for lego to include an extra printed detail specific to S7 if he's just going to show up in the UCS set.
  25. this was probably already mentioned but I feel like the inhibitor chip bandage on Rex indicates he was designed for something CW S7 related, the only relevant vehicles I can think of would be a Y-wing or a Venator Playset(lottery odds). Y-wing seems like an obvious choice, just seems weird for that detail to be included in the print unless the figure was designed for a S7 set.
