    Based on the leaked pic, the new castle looks a little more juvenile in design than the previous 3 in 1 that just retired (or less sophisticated, as someone else said). The new mini figures are always a selling point. The archer with the blue hood looks the most interesting to me. I’d LOVE a return of the Black Knights! My favorite faction from my childhood.

    While plenty of people have mentioned that Creator sets always have brick built animals… brick built horses sound like a TERRIBLE idea for the typical Lego Castle audience.

    I would not say I “think” it’s a different faction….my “hope” would be that it is a different faction. I don’t think that is likely…I just think it would be neat. That was literally my first post back on this website in several years - I don’t pretend to have any relevant insight into anything. This thread is a wishlist - I posted my wish - and referenced a few other people’s rumors from this thread and other adjacent threads that I read to possibly give some rationale about “how” my idea could be justified. I'm not pretending that it’s likely. Simply that I’d be excited if it was.

    I’d be ecstatic with a return of the Black Knights. I’ve only in the past few months given Lego much attention again after a mostly 5+ year hiatus, and absolutely LOVE the attention the classic Castle factions have received. I my own head canon, the Black Knights and Wolfpack were the last of the real “classic” Castle factions. I understand the Dragon Masters came out towards the end of that and overlapped with them, but as many others note - there was a stylistic change in Castle away from the classic vibe with the introduction of the Dragon Masters. In my mind, the 5 classic Castle factions are: Crusaders, Black Falcons, Forestmen, Black Knights, and Wolfpack. Lego has now given some modern day attention to each of those 5 classic factions except 1: the Black Knights. While the Black Knights never had distinctive faction torsos (simply generic scale mail), they did have my all-time favorite shield: the Black Knights triangle dragon shield. In regards to the rumored 2025 Creator castle being something with horses: one possible idea I had was what if that actually hints towards “cavalry”? And to run along with that - the Black Knights may be one of the most (if not THE most) cavalry-heavy factions Lego Castle has ever seen. I understand the discussion about Creator focusing on brick-built animals doesn’t help my argument. Most of this is likely just my own wishful thinking…but that IS the point of this particular thread 😉

    Yeah, interiors for castle have been an on and off topic here for several years, and I agree - it would be a fresh direction from the same old formula they always did with castle sets.

    Refer back to your original response to me, where you did basically the same to me. I responded to the original post to check out D&D and Warcraft....and your response was “actually, you are wrong, and here’s why....” So why do you call it out when I defend myself? I offered examples to help the OP, then you went out of your way to tell me I’m wrong.....to which I responded explaining why I feel I’m not. Then you further said....”but that isn’t REALLY medieval fantasy”.... And so it continued. I offered help to the OP, and you entered the discussion by trying to tell me I’m wrong more than once. And you then get mad at ME? I’m sorry, but if you keep telling me I’m wrong, I’m going to defend myself when I feel I’ve got a sound argument. I came here offering help. You came here telling me I’m wrong. Have a good day.

    You are welcome to view it that way....but Warcraft has long been consider “medieval fantasy” in the same way D&D is. Perhaps it would help to view “Warcraft”...and not “World of Warcraft”. WoW, being an MMO evolved a lot over the years, and MMOs have a tendency to be a lot more flexible with their treatment of lore. They are willing to toss in ridiculous things that feel out of place if they think they can make a quick buck off it. Vintage Warcraft was much more typical “medieval fantasy” with steampunk elements. D&D also has a LOT of additional inspirations that are wildly outside traditional “medieval” settings. But it is rooted in a medieval base before tossing all the other junk in that makes it fundamentally “medieval fantasy” first and foremost. Just remember....the “fantasy” portion of that encompasses a rather large variety of what it can mean.

    It depends on the flavor of “medieval” you are aiming for. Historical medieval...sure, you have those limitations. Medieval Fantasy is a whole different set of limitations. You can have magic in a setting like that, which can be justification for nearly anything you want to toss in. Thus why I referenced 2 of the biggest medieval fantasy examples from pop culture. It’s not strange at all to see steampunk inspirations in D&D medieval fantasy settings, or Warcraft.

    Medieval-punk....which as you mean is basically just steampunk ideas....but within a medieval setting. This sort of thing is already quite common in the fantasy genre. Look to things such as Dungeons and Dragons and Warcraft, and you can find countless sources of inspiration that could be described as “steampunk” in a fantasy setting....and they are done in a way that looks entirely appropriate.

    LEGO is the largest toy maker in the world. They have major influence in what kids play with simply by dictating what is offered. I fully realize that isn’t the only factor...but it does play a part. If LEGO created a fun Castle line, along with the increasing amount of fantasy content that’s regaining relevance in media these days, it would certainly work in favor of Castle being a theme worth having. But as long as Lego is unwilling to take a risk on something like that, it’s only going to keep people thinking Castle is irrelevant to LEGO.

    I still think a licensed Legend of Zelda theme would do phenomenally.

    "How do people feel about these products?" is a question that might need more specification in the Eurobrick community. It could have several different angles: - how is the quality? - how is the perceived value for what you get? - how do you feel about mixing non-Lego products with Lego products? I find the quality of Brick Warriors to be nice. Value-wise, some of their products are good value, but they seem to be getting more and more expensive with their newer releases. I especially find most of their themed character packs to be too expensive for my tastes. I could buy several unique minifigs that I dont have from Bricklink for the same price as 1 themed character pack from Brick Warriors. The Brick Warriors packs do come with several accessories for that higher price, but it's not enough to justify the much higher price in my eyes. I don't have any reservations about mixing Lego and non-Lego. I do know there are people here who feel differently, though.

    Gotcha. I don't know if that was always there or if you added it in response, but it is such a small and subtle line of text right below the focal point of the thread that it was easily overlooked if so. the design looks nice

    It looks like it's probably neat...but the image is so dark it's hard to appreciate the detail of the build. I understand you've tried to go for a "mood-setting" image, inspired by the movie, but it came at the sacrifice of visual detail. It would be much better if you offered a regular lighting photo in addition to the dark one, but the dark one alone is simply tough to see what's going on by itself.

    It’s kinda funny all the talk of needed “play features” that are discussed these days. I seem to remember my play features were 2 minifigures with swords...and having a sword fight on a building or in front of said building was a blast as a kid. Sure, there were some of the other types of play features mentioned above...but they didn’t seem so “required” because simply having minifigures with weapons was action enough for me and my childhood imagination. Times change I suppose.
