Great substitute choices @Midlife-crisis!
-
I perfectly understand! Good luck on your build and hope to see the completed Nebulon once done!
-
Oh woah... now that you mentioned it, those sandgreen 41747s are now so expensive! My opinion is to just change it out to a more affordable colour, if you are not picky about being movie accurate. You can call it the Nebulon-M (M = Manglegrat)

OMG! I really really would like to build this but 11k+ bricks... I don't even know where to start!

Oh yes, the costs can skyrocket, esp when the shipping has not been added yet. You can look at the list and swap out bricks that you may not need in that particular colours or you can try getting used bricks too.
-
That is strange. I just went to try it out just now and a screen popped up that asks where to save the 5454 parts to: 1. Existing Wanted List or 2. New Wanted List
-
You should have a part list that you can upload to Bricklink Wanted List and then buy there.
-
I doubt the 6259 can be swapped with 85941 because of the length. The 6259 are used for the 2 protruding engines found at the bottom of the engine area. They slot in nicely between the plate gaps so if you use 85941, it may not be able to do so.

@DavenocheeseI hope the approx number of 1x16 bricks I gave is accurate!
-
I believe that you can set aside about 15pcs of 1x16 technic bricks in LBG or DBG and you should be fine. I counted more than 20pcs but quite a few are also hidden in the body. I just went through the instructions and it called for DBG but I used LBG instead. Not much of a difference once you start placing LBG greebling on top of the 1x16 technic bricks. Here's a pic once all the greeblings go on: Good luck! :) @EKae Much thanks for the photos! Argh, realised that I ran out of 27263! Time to get on BL! :)
-
Hey @EKae! Was wondering if you managed to complete your YV-929? You mentioned that you were waiting for some angled plates for the wings? Any photos of the result? Cheers!
-
I agree with @Markus85, only the centre spine which connects the body with the engine should be in LBG as the greebling on the spine would not cover the technic bricks totally. I found out the hard way when I used black 1x16 technic bricks there and had to swap them out. Couldn't feel my fingers for a day! Haha!

I believe it was because when Mortesv designed and built the Nebulon, trans-orange 3x3 dishes were not available in this colour. Luckily, with the release of the Apollo Saturn Ideas set, this colour became available, but it is still quite expensive on BL due to its rarity!

[MOC] 1: 250 Mini UCS Rebel Transport GR-75 [LDD file]
Azrielsc replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Hey Matt, you can get them in black too. If my memory served me right, they are mostly hidden too. -
Those renderings look really cool and it did make me chuckle! As for the ship, I like how you have tried to make it as accurate as possible with whatever information you can get online as well as to give it a little twist to make it your own. I remembered when it first came out, it struck me that it looked like some deep sea dwelling weird looking fish!

Azrielsc replied to EKae's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Seems like it.... 4 per side airlock and 4 for each end of the cockpit? -
It really has been a while since your last build @Anio! And you didn't disappoint!

Ah! That reminds me to submit mine! Haha! Thanks @StarBricks

@wmxproductions Nice use of the 27925 curved tiles! Hope you don't mind if I use your idea. -
To me, I find that the underside looks the most beautiful!! The curves look and match so perfectly with each other, almost organic in nature.
