This January wave almost certainly confirms we will see Mando & Grogu movie sets…if that was ever in doubt anyway! 75436 - based on what I have seen over the years, I think most fans will be happy at the price point more than the set. Business wise this makes complete sense, providing a perfect set for a small child in anticipation of the movie or after watching it. 75448 - a really strange choice this, but I think it will be a striking mech given the likely colour scheme of white and red. 75499 - makes some sense given the Maul show, but I am more interested to see the 332nd troopers and whether they are new in any way. I’d expect the builds to be a small Mando speeder from the previous Mando BP. 75443 - I’d expect this to be like the small price point Harry Potter sets. Again similar to 75436 this makes complete sense and should sell well presuming they don’t mess it up and overcomplicate it. 75437 - on the surface this makes zero sense, but let’s assume one of Vanth or Bane (if not both) appear in some new media in 2026 - Mando/Grogu movie, Maul show etc. Bane is also relevant due to the excellent episodes of the Tales series. Long over due set, should sell well if the figures are good. 75440 - Nice to see a ground vehicle in the mid-scale range, which I believe is a first. You’d expect it to be planted on some snowy terrain…? 75441 - an inevitability, and should be good. Happy with this choice. Predicted this one. 75442 - let’s hope it’s scaled with the R2-D2, but the price point looks awful. Perhaps there’s something more to this set? Predicted this one.

Couldn’t agree more, Lego have missed out on a bucket load of profits in the last 5 years or so.

Agreed, maybe not the worst but it’s another wave of great in principle, struggling in practice. Agreed, pretty much most fans know. The Turbo Tank is almost as obscure if we are considering younger fans of Lego. Genuine question - do you consider the 2024 Star Destroyer as a flagship set? Atleast someone likes it and will buy it. Some straight facts here.

I have just noticed another 212th incident. The Clone Pilot is shown to have the visor go all the way to the edge on the box and all the other photos. In reality, this is not the case as shown by reviews. Interestingly, the AOTC version shouldn’t have the visor go all the way around, although probably slightly further than what we get in practice. But the V-19 is based on the Clone Wars where the visor goes all the way to the edge. Either way, sad to see LEGO up to their same tricks again. I have been waiting 15 years for the proper pilot, and it’s nearly perfect. Interested to hear thoughts.

I was waiting for this sort of comment. Completely fair, but for me, I’d have liked it if they broke the rule. It feels right here, it feels like it adds a bit of fun. Makes it feel complete. But that’s just me. Not sure I’m asking for much, especially for the price.

I’m going to predict we will see the Clone Pilot return in 2027 for the 25th anniversary of AOTC. I also think Lego will release some Clone Wars sets, similar to what they’ve done with ROTS/TCW this summer I.e Felucia was in ROTS, the MTT wasn’t. After the dust has settled, here’s my list of best to worst with corresponding score out of 10. I have included the STAP/B1 Battle Droid and K2SO 1. K2SO - 9/10 Loses 1 point for the face/eye design 2. MTT - 8.5/10 Loses 1 point for the price Loses 0.5 points for the size especially lack of Droids to be carried, Bly inaccuracies, colour of Commando Droids. 3. Battle Droid W/STAP - 8.5/10 Loses 1.0 point for the price Loses 0.5 points for the decision to not release the B1 on its own, head design of B1. 4. V-19 Torrent - 8.5/10 Loses 1.5 points for the size because it severely restricts the functionality of the wing feature. 5. AT-ST - 8/10 Loses 1 point for the price. Loses O.5 points for the lack of colour diversity (sand blue, dark tan) Loses 0.5 points for the amount of figures (really feel it had to have 2 pilots). 6. Force Burner Snowspeeder - 8/10 Loses 1 point for the price, especially considering it’s less iconic/important. Loses 0.5 points because the small speeder looks 4+ Loses 0.5 points for the oversize cannon at the back, lack of other features. 7. Jango’s Starship - 8/10 Loses 1 point for the minifigures - I get why Jango doesn’t have arm printing but the consistency re. Rex is jarring. Boba Fett is awful. Loses 0.5 points for the size - I can’t help but feel the 2019 version would have been perfect. Loses 0.5 points for the box-art (TCW), seismic charge design, and stud-shooters. 8. Buildable Wicket - 8/10 Loses 0.5 points due to price Loses 1 points for size Loses 0.5 points for overall design 9. 327th BP - 7.5/10 Loses 1.5 points for price Loses 0.5 points for minifigures Loses 0.5 points - oversized AT-RT, colour scheme etc 10. Whilst I do think the MTT is the best in the wave, I am also thinking it’s not getting enough negativity. Perhaps it’s because the logical comparison is the Juggernaut, which it’s far superior. It feels it should be £120, maximum. I’ll aim for somewhere between £90 before picking up. I know as a child I’d have loved to buy it along with the 327th BP. I’ll wait for that to go to £20 or so.

I can appreciate your point, fair enough. However, the terrain would be pointless even if you bought multiples of it surely…there was nothing to it. Plus, the rumoured price was a rumour, the actual price may be a result of removing the terrain…who knows! Plus the Spider Droid may have been improved given the parts loss of the terrain.

I really like the concept of the anniversary figures here, lovely stuff! Separately, @Mandalorianknight I do not think the concept of Evergreen sets is necessary. I think it would make the line feel quite stale, and if they were to go down the route of adapting and amending them I’d much rather they just go all in on one style/specific context and then pivot when the retirement date arrives. I think prolonged retirement dates work fine. For example, I love the Tie Fighter Inspection and Clone Attack sets but they’re sets in their own right and the can be released in different ways down the line I.e. a First Order Tie Attack, a Tie collection, new clone legions etc etc.

Lego do not need to make sizeable playscale sets, they don’t need to produce the most accurate minifigures in these sets, and they don’t need to make these sets so they are in any way close to an 18+ set. Back in the day, Lego had UCS sets and UCS sets only for adults fans of Lego. Hence, whilst playscale sets were advertised for 7-14 year olds, Lego made sure they would satisfy most (if not all) the needs of adults fans in these sets. It’s why the quality was so high; if it wasn’t, what would adults buy? The creation of the 18+ line in all its facets (helmets, diorama’s, Buildable characters, mid-scale ships) has destroyed this high quality ceiling of playscale sets we were so used to because they are not catering to the adult fan of Lego anywhere near as much, simply because they feel they don’t need to. Effectively, playscale actually are for the ages on the box. It’s almost as if Lego tried to do it the other way around in the last 4-5 years of the 2010’s with those action figures, gimmick action battle sets etc. It didn’t work, so the best business decision was to go the other way: action figures for adults in the form of buildable characters and droids, gimmick sets for adults focused on display and collectibility such as the helmets, diorama’s and mid-scale ships. I strongly suspect that when these 18+ lines reach their natural conclusion and new lines do not take their place (I can’t think of a novel 18+ line that would replace helmets, dioramas, buildable characters) it will coincidentally tie in to the end of the downscale era (I.e there’s no more downscale left to do!). Eventually, Lego will run out of downscale options, and downscale remakes won’t suffice. But that won’t happen for a few years, minimum. After all, they’re even adding vehicles to the buildable characters! The worrying thing though is if new media is plagued with downscales - the last thing the line needs is a bunch of completely new ships, vehicles, locations that are clearly in scale with the downscales. Granted, the Disney era of Star Wars lack the originality described here, and Lego often won’t release anything too radical from the status quo, but there will be sets that do fit this context. Hopefully we return to larger playscale sets, or as I have suggested on this forum, the creation of a middle ground between the play scale sets right now and the ever-increasing in size, piece count, and cost of the current UCS sets.

Good point re. terrain! Glad they removed it, it’s a waste. I’d have preferred a Crab Droid, but atleast they’ve adapted the Spider Droid design. I get the AT-RT criticism, for whatever reason the design doesn’t annoy me too much. In my opinion, the MTT seems to have more value than the Turbo Tank. Not sure why, or what other than more pieces, it just looks better.

Price aside, the 327th Bp is pretty good.

Is a strange one, but other than that the box-art is sensational. In fairness, the sets are more detailed, but are worse in nearly every aspect. Enough is enough, surely. The era of downscales has to end. Agreed, it’s actually a decent set given it’s a downscale. Just imagine how good it could be if it was the 2019 version.

Be end of June, early July. LEGO are convinced 18+ = no play scale. Correct that error and we feast. They do this my reducing some of the sub-themes focused on 18+. I would remove mid-scale ships and diorama’s and keep Helmets and buildable characters/droids. Then move those 3-4 slots into 18+ play scale sets which I have banged on about the last months.

They’re moving towards more Prequel content. It’s just a shame the builds are lesser quality and figures aren’t immaculate. I’m quietly confident.

All it takes is a play-scale/UCS Lucrehulk.
