Heroica RPG- Quest #133: A Walk Through The Parlor
Asphalt replied to Asphalt's topic in The Heroica Archive
Falcon Brother Commander Indeed there is only one of me. But as you can see, one is more than enough. I will ask you one final time. Hand your weapons to me, and accept my escort. You have seen that I can call whom I choose to aid me. Do I need to further convince you that if I wished you dead you would be? If so, open the door to the west. I give you my word that if you give me this sign of good faith it will be rewarded. If you choose to not give in to this simple request. Well, you are a child of the world. I am sure you can imagine that it could go poorly. Falcon Brother Archer Indeed there is only one of me. But as you can see, one is more than enough. I will ask you one final time. Falcon Brother Commander Ohh I assure you, my little Frost Wright, that human is the last thing I have ever been accused of being. These vessels were, or rather still are quite human. Please let us not drag this out any longer than we have to. Give me your weapons that we may be on our way. I will consider it a sign of good faith on your part. You have come so far, do not force me to bring an end to your journey here. Their reply comes in stereo from all directions. Falcon Brother Commander I have seen you kill indiscriminately throughout this place. For all I know you are the reason I am here. Your weapons if you please. Falcon Brother Archer I have seen you kill indiscriminately throughout this place. For all I know you are the reason I am here. Your weapons if you please. Falcon Brother Quick Striker I have seen you kill indiscriminately throughout this place. For all I know you are the reason I am here. Your weapons if you please. Falcon Brother Staffman I have seen you kill indiscriminately throughout this place. For all I know you are the reason I am here. Your weapons if you please. Continuing to speak with a single voice, the Brothers ready their weapons and await the reply of the party. What will the party do? -

As the party readies weapons the eyes of the brothers shift over them one at a time. Falcon Brother Commander You will give me your weapons. Falcon Brother Archer You will give me your weapons. Falcon Brother Quick Striker You will give me your weapons. Falcon Brother Executioner You will give me your weapons. Falcon Brother Staffman You will give me your weapons. Speaking and moving in unison, The Brothers spread our around the party and extend their hands expectantly. What will the party do? -
Vindsval makes a chuffing noise in the back of his throat and holds up a hand apologetically. I was correct, far beyond my meager means. But I will do my best to use this scroll well and wisely.

With Terry recovered, the cadre is ready to move on. The memories of the "voice" behind the spider spurs them on. Keliim opens the door leading to the north, and the party follows him through. They are greeted by faces both familiar, and Alien. Falcon Brother Commander You will come with me NOW, please. Falcon Brother Archer You will come with me NOW, please. Falcon Brother Quick Striker You will come with me NOW, please. Falcon Brother Executioner You will come with me NOW, please. Falcon Brother Staffman You will come with me NOW, please. The figures speak in unison. Is this the guide that was promised? -

I do not know what to think. Something was controlling that spider. The beast was a predator, it should have attacked us as soon as we entered its lair, juvenile or not. Then it spoke not with the voice of an animal but with the voice of, I don't know what, not that of a human or dwarf, or elf, but something else. Have you ever been in a darkened room, and someone comes to speak with you? You cannot see their face but you know from their voice that they are old? That is the only way I can describe the feeling I got from listening to whomever was speaking through the spider. Age, age beyond counting. But not frail. Whomever, or whatever she is, has power. -
Weapons that do not have a blade.

By focusing her mage sense, Calamity can feel magic with an affinity to the earth. Like a magnetic force or pump attempting to pull the magma up from below. -
Gonna say that is a bit too on the space tech side of things. I would suggest go more of the golem/elemental/steampunk route.

A fair trade indeed. Vindsval hands the Sapphire to the Arthur. and takes the Scroll of Poisoning in Return. He then Pats Verkenner, his Broomstick, and looks at the Weatherfax broom. I would certainly covet that piece. It would be an investment in the future, and I fear it is beyond my means, but what would take for the broom and book?

The shards tinkle almost musically as Keliim leaves them lie on the tiles floor. The glob of lava glass is surprisingly cool to the touch, but as keliim stands there the ground beneath his feet begins to warm. Perhaps this is what was bringing the magma to the surface. -

Keliim kneels down to examine the shards of Obsidian that were created by the rapid cooling of the magma. He tentatively picks up one and it slices cleanly through his glove, drawing a thin line of blood where it grazed his palm. He finds a total of 4 of these shards. 4X Obsidian Shard: may be affixed to a blunt weapon to give the Bleeding 2 effect for one battle. Other than the shards he finds little of interest. As he stands the pulsing stone on the wall draws his attention. It appears to be another lump of lava glass, with something glowing at its center. -

In too big of a hurry to look around and realize how far she had come calamity opens the southern facing door and runs nose first into a solid wall. -

Terry's eyes glow with an internal light as he consumes the tonic, his ether reserves reaching their maximum capacity. As he pours that power into the Opal a crusting of hoar frost begins to grown on the edges of his hood, his sleeves and the trim of his tunic It continues to spread outward making the young man appear to be sprouting long crystalline silver hair. as the power builds the frost begins to creep forward across the floor towards the magma flows. It probes tentatively at the molten stone. At first it melts away before it can get close, the heat from the molten stone is simply too much, but as the mage pours more and more power into the stone the frost retracts and coalesces. It contracts in on itself and begins to form a shape. It first takes on an oblong egg shape, then 4 thick shafts push it up off of the floor. A second bulge pushes out from the front of the egg. It is hard to tell at first, but then the intent of the ice becomes clear. Terry has drawn on his past to form a champion, His ice magic has taken on the form of an enormous Boar made of ice and frost, its tusks nearly scraping the ceiling of the chamber as it raises its head in a silent roar. The construct turns its head back towards Terry and bows, before it rushes headlong into the magma. When the avatar of cold meets the magmas there is an explosion of water and steam, which quickly condenses into a thick fog. When the fog clears you can see that terry has fallen to his knees exhausted from the effort, and that the magma flow has been not only cooled, but completely shattered. Shards of glistening obsidian lay scattered over the floor, and the Ruby Key stands in its socket waiting to be claimed. There is little to be found of the magma flow, save for a single lump of stone, embedded in the far wall, pulsing with a brown light. Terry kneels there in the center of the floor, feeling wiser and more powerful. Terry Gains a level. The party may now claim the fifth and final staff, the Ruby Portal Key. The room is now cool, and the fog has faded, what does the party do? -
I great you well Arthur .. Ziedgfried you say? A prestigious meeting indeed. Vindsval catches the glimpse towards the dragon, nods to the creature as well. I meet your partner in peace Flame Dancer, I give my respect to you as well. He touches his first two fingers to his forehead in greeting to the dragon. He turns his attention back to the Dragoon, and his face breaks out in an enormous smile as the man empties his entire pack of belonging onto the table. It would seem you could give the Merchants a true run for their money. You have quite the extensive collect..... His voice trails off as he notices the scrolls. He gingerly picks up one in particular The SCROLL OF POSIONING. I have read of these during my training, I had not known any existed. If you are indeed parting with these items, what would you take in exchange for this? And for all of the other scrolls a well?

Terry shoots a cone of frost at the magma where it seems to flow from the wall. It cools, darkens, and then erupts anew. It will take more than a single blast to cool the fiery heart of this chamber. Terry has expended is only point of ether (he was at 1/9 after the last battle) it will take a total of 7 more ether to freeze the magma core. Total ether expenditure 1/8 -
My apologies, but it was hard for anyone to concentrate with the recruiter in full force. Again, I am Vindsval. May the Wanderer guide your path. It is a pleasure. He sits down his drink on the closet table, and extends his hand once again.
