After days of training Vindsval returns to the hall, no longer a follow of the Witchery way, but as The Scorpion Knight, Paladin of the Wanderer, first of his kind.
-
Vindsval arrives at the Training Hall a short time later. Hello once again my large green friend. It would seem you have indeed fulfilled your desire to master the Witchery Way. Tales of your use of poisons in battle have reached me even here. But if you come to me you must be in need of a change. But what would you study? You have not the experience to be called a veteran nor the favor of a great house. I indeed come to you for training, but first I must ask. Do you have a room where you store the banners of those who have passed from these halls? Copper Fox looks at Vindsval oddly but leads him to a storage room full of crates and chests. A strange request Vindsval, but you are welcome to look through this storage room, and use anything that you find. Vindsval digs through the chests until he finds what he was looking for. A symbol from his past. The emblem of the first great beast that he and his companions destroyed on Tridentia. Thank you Wanderer for your guidance and Wisdom. Now to visit the armorer. Vindsval leaves the Training Hall to visit Anwyl in the Marketplace. Wat is it that ye be needing boy? Yeh kin see I am a busy Man. I am in need of your skills. I was blessed with this arm and a new charge. To complete this I will need your help. He detaches and hands the Master Smith his new arm along with the banner If you have the time, here is what I would you to do. He and the smith discuss his plans to modify the carapace of the armored arm, as well as to craft a crest plate embossed with the Sigil from the banner. It takes a number of hours of planning, and the smith works long into the night on the modification and crafting. By morning Vindsval leaves with what he sought. With his new arm, his new crest and new goal he returns to Copper Fox's training room. Through many days of prayer, training, and adaptation Vindsval soon emerges a new creatures. Gone is The Half Born. In his place is The Scorpion Knight. Vindsval Half-Born (Asphalt) 37 year old, Male, Half Giant, Level: 31 Paladin *Gains Triple XP* *Immune to Asleep, Blinded, Confused, Fragile, and Weakened, Effects* (Attacks cause bleeding in Humanoids, 1/3 chance against all others) When Poisoned becomes Blessed Power: 57 (31+24+1+1) Power Bonus +2 (2015 Henry Awards) Defense: 30 Health: 50/50 (9+30+11) Ether: 35/35 (5+30) Gold: 509 Equipment: Vampire's Court Sword (WP:12 (24); 1/3 chance to cause bleeding; always causes bleeding to humanoids; great sword.) Vindsval looks abashed at the fear he instilled in the old priest. Um. . Many Thanks Friend. I meant not to cause you unease. I will take it and be on my way. Please, I hope this is enough for your distress. Vindsval Takes the Mythril Shield and Leaves 500 Gold. As he walks away he frowns. Yet again I am made the monster. Will the small folk of this world ever truly accept me? He stows the shield with his other recent acquisitions and goes to sip his drink in a dark corner. Vindsval sits in the corner of the hall, the weariness of the road and of his recent battles draws his chin to his chest and his eyes close. Moments later he opens them again to find himself surrounded by the mists and standing before a now familiar figure. He falls to his knees, his new iron fist digging into the soft loam at the Path's edge. Greetings great one. I thank you for this boon. What need have you of me? Arise Vindsval, I am here as always, to lead you upon the Path. You have done well in your mastery of this Witchery Way, but I fear you have no more that the animals of the wild can teach you. I allowed you to walk this path, but it is time you set your foot upon another. You are now whole once more, it is time you took up the shield and sword of your ancestors. But I have trained as a priest of your order. How then could I weird the sword. I am well aware of your desires to defend the weak and pressed of this land. You have sent many souls to be for judgement in this cause, and because of this word of me has spread far into these souther lands. I would have this continue. You have acquired the last item you will need to take up arms as a Paladin of this land. With this action your deeds may bring to you honor, and to me power. Seek out the banners of the Fox, that you may fight beneath the sign of your past. Vindsval awakens to find himself once again in the Hall. The banners of the Fox. It appears I have an appointment in the training hall.

As the small barbarian leaves the hall Vindsval glances over the Hall Notice Board. One posting in particular catches his eye. It would seem that is the final piece. Now where is he? I have met this man before. Vindsval stands to his full height, as much as the hall will allow anyway, and scans the room for Monk Pretzel. He spies the man sitting on the far side of the room. He crosses to him and kneels beside the table since his re-enforced barrel is over by the bar. Greetings Monk Pretzal, I read your notice on the board. I would like to purchase the Mythril Shield.

OOC: Spark Hammer (wp8 Lightning elemental Hammer. X2 against flying and mechanical) Good Luck to you then. If you do not mind a word of advice. You can never have too many Meads or Smelling Salts.

Vindsval examines the swords, testing their edge and fit in his hand. Very nice, could use a good honing, but excellent fit. He looks the barbarian over, examining the rest of his gear. You seem a bit light on gear. Would you take this and perhaps some gold in exchange for these blades? He holds up his Spark Hammer and a bag of 50 gold. I know from experience this delivers quite a shock, and you can never purchase too many potions and essences.

Greetings Torald of the Near North, I am recently returned from the Necropolis, resting at the crossroads as it were. I feel a desire to take a new path, but I need to gather new equipment first in order to make it happen. He runs a finger over the hilts of the great swords on his back. My first task is to acquire weapons that are large enough for my rather oversized hands.
-
Greetings Small One, well Met. I am Vindsval called the Half Born He takes a deep breath. You have the smell of the near North about you. Are you still new to these lands?

Vindsval Holds the blade in his hand. Good Balance. I hope to one day put it to good use. Vindsval straps the Sword of the Vampir onto his back beside his other blade. Vindsval then walks to the quest board, and looks over the two currently open quests. One calls for experience the other for novelty. This first leaves tomorrow, I need more time to recover than that. I was once a new-ling on a quest, and Benji showed me what it was to mentor the weak. Perhaps.. .

Vindsval walks over to Sorrow. It is good to be home is it not? Tell me, you carry a great many weapons and gear, would you part with any of it? That great sword there perhaps? I believe I may be in need of such a blade in the future.

A long absent, but easily recognized figure returns to the hall. Those who have met the giant recently will notice that he once again has two arms. A rather recent development, to which he owes Lord Grogmas many thanks. Ahh, the hall is as it ever was. I believe it is time to rinse the taste of my journey from my throat and speak with old friends. He moves the bar and as usual asked the dear woman who runs the establishment to surprise him. A small half cask is set before him, brimming with a thin brown liquid, in which floats what appears to be sticks or dried herbs of some sort. Always an adventure Dearheart, many thanks. He steps off the the side, careful not to smash any of the newcomers, and looks for familiar faces.

On his way back to the hall Vindsval Stops at Anwyl's Shop. Master Smith, These blades seem a bit ostentatious for my liking. Could you please remove all of the Gems from them? Vindsval hands the Bifrost Blades to Anwyl and has him remove the Ruby, Aguamarine, Garnet, Opal, Topaz, and Diamond from them. Leaving them the Twin Sai they once were. 1069-300=769 He Then Moves to Fabian's Stall and Sells some of his older gear. Ethereal Cloak, Robes of the Arch Magi, Raw Horsehide (Worth 10 Gold, or can be worn by Barbarian classes for SP:1) and the Mage's Muffler. 769+110+150+10+20= 1059 His packs lighter and with nearly as much gold in his pocket he returns to the Hall.

Heroica RPG- Quest #137: Where the Dead Go to Live
Asphalt replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
Many thanks my lord Mage. Vindsval knuckles his forehead in respect. And to you Ms. Amber, only this. The paths that are laid before us are diverse and many, and often intertwine. Through mere happenstance or perhaps fate we walk the Path that we do. If it is the Will of the Wanderer, I would see you again. While your means were extreme and your goal somewhat twisted, I believe you did what you did out of devotion. If you can find a path away from destruction, towards one of creation, perhaps we can meet again. To slay one another perhaps or perhaps not. The decision at that time, will once again be yours. Farewell Madam, May the Wanderer guide your path, even within the confines of your cell. Vindsval nodes and motions for her to be taken away. He turns to the flummoxed Throlar. I would be gone from this place. If you would speak further, you know where to find me. I will see you in the Hall Sorrow, The Wanderer Guide both of your paths. Vindsval turns and leaves for the Hall of Heroica, and a much deserved rest. -

You showed great concern for the fell creatures who attacked us in the cave. What were they to you that you would covet their belongings as well? -

"This quest, and this arm have given me much to think about. Makepeace used the title paladin as an insult, but before the loss of my shield arm I had intended to pledge myself to that order. Now that the Wanderer, and this Lord Grogmas, have seen to restore an arm to me, I once again plan to follow that path. The Mythril Mail will serve me well in my journey to protect those whom I may. Once my training is complete, I will be donning it." -
I remember thinking about that. I thought you started with 30 and then bought potions. Is it correct now?
