Heroica RPG - Quest #138: Fade To Black
Lind Whisperer replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
The Munchkin raised his hand respectfully. "Would it be possible for you to loan us some sort of map or chart of Moone? Also, is the dragon elemental, and if so, which element?" -

"Master Hunter." The Munchkin bobbed his head respectfully in recognition of the hunter's arrival. -

"...Have we met?" "That doesn't sound like me..." "...Yeah, now that sounds like me." "A king's wisdom is...wise." "I...am just going to stand over here, and enjoy the view across the water, since that's a very big gun, and people with very big guns often have very small...and are generally rather touchy about it, and hairtrigger, is the point, so...yeah, I'm just going to enjoy this view, over here, from behind the sheep." -
I figured that, as Lind is someone who spent most of his life studying, that it wouldn't be the most unlikely scenario for him to be acquainted with the general appearances of local rulers - and the crown+the uncommon name of Faust kind of tips the balance. Also, I found the idea of Lind expecting to be meeting with "faceless lackeys," and then meeting a King to be kind of funny.
-
But Lind's quite alive! I mean, sure, he's going to wish he was dead in a few minutes, when Faust informs him that, no, they have already met - but that's a bit different. Lind's in total blackout about the last few days - he doesn't remember the meeting at all.

OoC: I had a bit of RP in mind, but the Hall was empty... A somewhat ruffled figure hurried his way down the harbor, strapping on belts and snapping buckles."Great job, Lind, just great. First, you sign up for a place you've barely even heard of, let alone studied - I knew Moone would be a better choice for studying but no-oo, Dad, sure I think that Advanced Cattle Grooming is more worthy - then you're late to the docks so that everyone's there - and, no, only the Witch is here, okay, we could be worse off - Speaking of everyone else, exactly who's leading this thing? - I seriously hope it's just a few next-to-nameless lackeys here to greet us, arriving this is not the way to make a good appearance in front of your employers-" The Munchkin saw the King. (And recognized him, because "Munchkin Knowlege".) "Oh, fu...dge." The Munchkin dropped to one knee and bowed his head as deeply as possible. "My liege - Sir King - it is an-an honor to meet you." -
Being light of pocket, and the Halls being surprisingly quiet, the Munchkin left for the docks.

OoC: Sorry I can't get my updated character picture uploaded - the camera's batteries don't have enough juice. When Lind is done in the Hall, he'll be dressed like this: EDIT: Arrg - it keeps deleting the Bricklink pics...Basically, that torso, 2013 CIty Police pants(dark blue pants with some straps and buckles), Luke Skywalker 2013 MF head, with visor flipped around so not visible, and he's still wearing the elf hat+ears. -
Great - the quest goes up, and I'm out of batteries for the camera*... *New Heroica sigfig. Guess Lind Mk. I will have to do for the moment...

In one corner of the Hall, a Munchkin awakens with a throbbing headache. "..." He looks across the Hall. "Great - signups closed, and thanks to your stupidness, Lind, you probably missed them. There's a reason you drink water, there's a reason you drink..." His eyes drifted down to his chest. "Okay...does anyone know why I'm dressed like a street gigolo?" He slumped over to the board, clutching at tables and posts. "And why I'm signed up to fight a dragon...This is not my day..." "Thank you, nice half-giant person that spotted me a couple gold once."

OoC: Looks great, and I'm looking forward to questing with everyone! I need to finish rebuilding my fig, and do some RP in the Hall - "...Since when did I sign up for fighting a dragon...?" - but I can't wait to get started! -
Let's go kill a dragon.
-
Drat my long-term Dragoon RP plans - that armor looks awesome! And I seriously hope we see "Custom Fitting" offered again in the future.
-
Grab the Fire-fox! It's valuable!
-
10.501 QMs, you mean. Don't forget, I helped come up with free-action-talking for #105.
-
If Lind ends up going Necropolis scouting, that'll make three Kintobar quests in a row, discounting a few Fields trips...
-
It's just not a very satisfying place for newbies - you go out, you fight until you're killed - it's a bit discouraging, really. I just think a very simple dungeon-clear setup would be a nice feature to have. Just a thought. The problem is that there aren't that many quests for lower-leveled heroes anymore. I'm making these numbers up, but it feels like about 75% of quests these days are for 25+, 20% are for 15-20+, and only about 5% or so span the range from 1-15.
-
Just a suggestion: What if the Caliph's catacombs became a permanent game feature? Like the Fields, but a place that's aimed more at lower-leveled heroes?
-
And welcome to Heroica's newest Hero! I take it from the dialogue "Jinnipher" was part of the original Heroica Mafia game? You know, I actually could feature that as part of that chain of quests I really need to start hosting again one of these days...
-
...Just so we're all clear, is there some hidden reason why Flint Marko and Masson arre identical, or is it just because that's your standard NPC head design?
-
That's actually a really good question. Probably our booming tourist trade. I hear the Hovels are lovely this time of year. There's some lovely muck, over here...
-
Maybe. I'm more confused as to his race - I thought Moone was mostly Moon Elves*?*Hey, it's Lind that claims to know everything as per Munchkin Knowledge. Not Moi.
-
Darn, so much potentially useful information, and Lind's sound asleep for all of it...

Anyone else play World of Tanks Blitz?
