Just looking at these, Im actually starting to really like them. I have already got their characters planned out in my head (I never normally like the idea of horde villains, so eack set is normally a character in my eyes) Much love for Skull Grinder. Definitely one of the best ones. Looks really imposing. I would have loved trans red instead of orange, but alas. Skull Warrior may be my favorite. The Skeletal vibe really comes out in this set. Love that compiler skeletal arm he has going on. Needs a mask swap with Grinder though, me thinks. Skull Basher is very nice. Nothing too special but I still really like him Skull Slicer Im not a massive fan of. Might tweak it a little. The slender feel is okay as I will make her a girl anyway, so aside from adding a bit of amour she is okay. As for Skull Scorpio... eh. Not a really fan of non humanoid sets(or at animal shaped sets). Makes them harder to pose with the group but he is okay. I think I will be making his tale more CCBS like though. Either way, they are pretty good. P.S: I am LOVING the new bone and add-on piece right now.

Why are people bashing the reuse of masks with Skull Warrior and Grinder when I'm pretty sure Basher and Scorpio use the same as well.

The animations seem to be starting to go somewhere. Im REALLY digging the whole Ekimus voice aspect. Really brings the mystic aspect of Bionicle in a way I had never thought of. My theory is his spirit is being kept alive in the six golden masks. I honestly think that the six combined will create the MoCr again. The ancient city fascinates me too and I hope we see a lot of it.

Upon taking a second look I like these a lot more. I remember not being blown away by the prelims of the Toa, but I honestly think they are some of the greatest contraction figures we have gotten in the past 20 years. Im going to wait. Really love skull basher already. REALLY hoping that's trans pink, but it would seem like an odd choice, unless LEGO make it female(not saying pink is exclusive for females, just saying it would make the possibly odd colour choice make sense). I really hope that if these are actually characters we get at least one female. Not liking the red popping up everywhere. Its quite a bright and vivid colour to be a unifying one. Skull Scorpio is my least favorite as of now though. Wonder what those gold Toa masks will end up being, assuming they are just stand-ins.

I dont know why people are so annoyed about the price/size of the sets. Lewa and Gali are hardly small sets and stand up pretty well to Tahu and Co.

Yeah, that is some thing Im wondering too. I think I like the psychology of it having so much power that he just couldn't control it. Like too many voices in his head, almost. It makes the rule of having no more than one element make more sense too. I dont think its more logical to say: All Elements=Too much power for one man to control* All Elements=Creates sentient entity *I have just had an idea though. What if, to control the MOUP to do something in relation to the plot, all the Toa have to form together to make a Toa Nui type thing so they can all control their element. It would be a cool super combiner that they could make on the third (and final?) year.

I dont Makuta was such a saint before he put on the mask TBH. We have seen some of the most evil people in the world do the things they do because of jealously and Makuta might not be much of an exception. Maybe he didnt intend for the mask to control him the way it did, but he must have known at least partly what was going to happen. Im not saying I dont sympathize with him, but I doubt that he is going to become a saint when that mask comes off his face. Because really, then he is just a jealous little kid, and not a deviant sociopath. I would love some more deeper back story into what made him do it though. Was Ekimu the brother he could have been to prevent it? What did the villagers treat Makuta like? How long did it go on for? Imagine having to live 100,000 years listening to how great your brother is. I think I would have the right mind to whip the mask of Makutas face and put it on mine.

The protectors are the same size as the Toa.

Actually I find the loose masks really good for role play. If you move it up a down with your thumb it looks like they are talking. Also I dont know if this is old news but I found out its really easy to put tahus surf board on his back while its still completly intact. 1. Remove his gold swords from his back if you havent already. 2. Get two blue pins and slot them in to the sword holders on his back 3. Point the blue pins away from his body so they are at a ninety degree angle from his back 4. Get the surfboard and attach to the blue pins it to the second highest connection points on the board (make sure the surf board is pointing down) Its pretty flawless aside from a two cons. 1. Hard to reach the gear, although this can be easily fixed by extending it, although its still not actually too hard to twist his arms with it. 2. Hard to pick up and play with. 3. Not actually too much of a con, but if you put it flat to his back, it restricts his leg movement. I found, however that the board moves up a touch if you push it, so just a heads up.

I second this. I was expecting them to fall off by just shaking them, but they hold on for most purposes. They do come off quite easily, but honestly they arent much less secure than the 01-03 style of connection. I personally wouldnt mind seeing them tighter. It is a problem, just not as bad as a lot of people have made out.

Yeah. Mine has been in there three days too. I remember having a problem a few years ago and basically LEGO has messed up and you will have to contact customer services. I will tomorrow. Its really annoying, and more so because it seems to happen very often.

Unless they do some 7th Toa thing and make it turn out to be a villager that puts in the MoCr and becomes the new mask maker? Orrrr maybe it will be the Vahiso there can be three mask makers

I think its safe to say I dislike the voices for every single Toa. Onua and Tahu are okay although most of them sound the same to me which isnt great. He didnt even try for Gali XD I love the animation and the story looks promising. I'll stay tuned if only to laugh at how awkward the romance scenes will sound between Tahu and Gali

Yeah the masks are what they are. In an ideal world I could get plain colours of the masks but I shouldnt think the trans top should hurt the colour scheme too badly

Not sure what you guys will think about this idea, but here we go. I was slightly disheartened to learn we wouldn't be getting any villager sets and then I had this story idea. The protectors have kids and pass the title of protector along with their mask down to their offspring, that much we pretty much know. I had this idea where the protectors of current(the ones we get as sets) are soon ready to retire/die/whatever they do. But at this moment they dont feel like the "kids"(I say kids when they would probably be just arriving into adult hood) arnt ready for the responsibility(think chroniclers company), so they give them to the Toa to train under their wing. I plan to buy an extra set of protectors and make a few changes to them First things first get rid of all translucent bone pieces to reinforce these guys have no form of elemental power. Aside from altering their builds a tad, I will be removing all armour(not the shells, just the add ons) and weapons. Then I will change the colours around a bit, using shells and bone peices. Im trying to get as close to the 01 Tohunga as I possibly can. Colour schemes are as follows: Fire: Yellow and Red Water: Dark Azure and Mata Blue Jungle: Bright Green and Teal Ice: White and Dark Azure Earth: Black and Purple Stone: Undecided What do you guys think?
