Heroica RPG 2.0 - Mission #0: Last Of Its Kind

Igaz takes the drink and snarls at the droid. "Thanks, droid." He then lifts the drink to show the woman gratitude and approaches her. "Thank you, miss. I don't think we've met either. My name is Igaz, pleasure to make your acquaintance." He takes a rather big sip. -

"I'm inclined to agree. No funny business and no twenty questions. Last thing we need is to start trouble by asking too many questions. Play it cool and blend in." Igaz whispers. Igaz motions to the droid for a drink. "That includes indulging yourself a bit." -

Realizing that the party is asking too many questions and trying to socialize with the unsocial dwarf, Igaz pitches in. "Lets just cut the crap. We're here for the auction. Let us through." Igaz clenches his shoulders back and cracks his back then his neck. Maybe it is a sign of intimidation? He just hopes that his team takes the hint that chatting up everyone they meet is not a good idea. -

That is why I have my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that LEGO adopts the new design officially! Also, what is D-O? I think that is overall a good consensus just to avoid General Grievous like characters wielding four weapons at once. Though I do think there can be exceptions when it comes to NPCs in a quest. Yeah I have been looking at some designs to go with and I there are two in mind I like because they are less complicated and generally look the best I think. But in the case LEGO goes with a unique mold for the IG series of droids, I would instantly swap to that. I think a mech character can be cool but you have to be really careful to avoid coming off as overpowered, you know? Funny you bring up Bionicle because I watched a video last night where some guy made some incredibly amazing characters using those parts and it gave me some inspiration. Not sure if we will go with a story or not but there could be some Lovecraftian types of foes. I think some cosmic horror will be a really nice addition to Heroica 2.0. I might dabble with it some time but I have zero experience with Bionicle parts. Maybe we can even see some space dragons too. -

So this is completely random but I emailed LEGO a few days ago about a suggestion. It is so niche but I really hope it becomes a reality. Basically I suggested that they redesign the IG serious of droid from Star Wars to look more appealing because, lets face it, the current models have been used for years and look awkward in comparison to regular minifigures. I found this piece of art online and I really cannot get over how great it looks and how amazing it would be if IG-88 actually looked like this! I have high doubts it will actually happen but one can hope, right? Especially with The Mandalorian featuring IG-11 who looks very identical in overall aesthetic minus some color differences. IG-11 was easily my favorite character in The Mandalorian. Also yes this could be seen as a bit of a spoiler for what I envision my character looking like for Heroica 2.0 though I may have to go with a brick-built design. Hopefully that is okay. Speaking of which, what is the consensus on brick-built characters? Not sure if anyone would play a Giant but I would love to see some Giant NPCs. The Mixel joint pieces are pretty useful for that sort of thing. -

Igaz scratches his chin, deciding whether or not to buy something. "I'll buy a Tinted Visor if you have another." Igaz then readies himself to proceed. -

Igaz tampers with his old visor. It is old but at the same times seems like it is in mint condition though it lost its main functionality a while ago. "This old thing? I believe it is a Cyber Sight MK I." He reaches his boney index finger beneath his helmet to scratch his temple. "I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with it but it used to help me see things a lot better. If rumors are to be true I hear the newer models allow you to see inside things and small details if you squint." -

Maybe but I think it adds to the hysteria. It makes the whole situation seem more intimidating. Plus I find it hard to believe that such an attack would not cause tremors but can temporarily deafen people. Unless @Endgame states otherwise because situations like this may need more clarity. I like to think a Death Star type of weapon just annihilated part of the planet. It adds more suspense in my opinion. -

Due to the impact of the death ray hitting Gnorra, Igaz loses his balance and falls to his knee. He begins to feel anxious. "I don't feel right about that. Call it a hunch but I get the impression we will be seeing more death rays being shot down here. I certainly don't want to be turned into dust so we should get the egg and get the hell out of dodge." Intrigued by the salesman, Igaz goes and takes a look at his stock. -

I think you should check with the MM about that first. That seemed more like an "Ability" rather than a weapon. Personally I think you should just attribute that as a roleplay thing and base it off of Strength. I do not think it would bode well in combat as a weapon. I just thought it was funny because something so advanced acted rather unintelligently. Perhaps that is more irony I guess. But like I said, Tester-Three does not have the same mindset as someone who is flesh and blood. They probably were not programmed to act in such ways that would be deemed acceptable by others. Eventually they become accustomed to such behavior over time. This scenario is no different that someone with a tribal or barbaric background. They could but keep in mind they do not have to be just War Bots. They could be programmed with different protocols, such as Security, Law Enforcement, or even Corrections. -

Well I think it should go without saying that players cannot manipulate another player by reprogramming them or whatever. It is an unwritten rule essentially. Unless maybe the players both agree to do something of that nature tor a roleplaying purpose? Remember that this game is meant to be fun! Sure we may screw something up but what fun is it when everything goes perfectly? I really thought Tester-Three smashing the E-11's engine was pretty funny! Actions like that make the roleplay more fun and adds more character to a character. Tester-Three appears to be about affirmative action rather than thinking before acting. He is a droid after all and thinking is not part of his programming, at least that is my guess. But as a character he can grow to learn from that. -

"Does anyone have knowledge of ships, or vehicles at least? Maybe then we can gain access to the cockpit and the cargohold. I will stand guard in the mean time." Igaz peers at Tester-Three. So far he has been very helpful when dealing with technological pursuits. Perhaps he may know a thing or two about piloting? -

Pleased that he manipulated the droid, Igaz returns to the group and relays the information. "You're in no position to lecture me on ethics, war droid. I can only imagine the horrific things you've done." "I'm in agreement. Unless Yelana wants to work her magic on the red droid too... but I think if we keep going to the red droid we might raise suspicion." -

Igaz rolls his heads in annoyance. He was confident his scheme would work. He attempts to intimidate the droid one last time but for information. "Stupid droid. How about we change that? If you don't tell me what my, Jek Flakko's ID pattern is, I will rip you from your post and get you reprogrammed so you feel pain and emotion! Do you wish to fear for your life?" -

I really wanted to try something creative with the roleplay and, whether or not it works, I am really enjoying it! I personally love thinking outside the box and doing less conventional things. It makes the experience a bit more exciting and amusing. Abilities sound like a fun idea but they seem almost unnecessary to launch with. I think expanding the character creation system further might become overwhelming. You would have to add abilities to compliment just about every play style and still balance them. Perhaps they could be added later as Implant Abilities? Implant Abilities, or Implants, would be purchased by players using Credits. Think of them like character augmentations or cybernetic enhancements meant to boost certain capabilities. For example, maybe one can let you move an extra space in combat. Maybe another can give you one extra space of range when using Ranged Weapons. Though when I think about it, these might make unique and special gear obsolete unless these Abilities are exclusive and are combat-specific? Regardless, I think Abilities should be a more prevalent feature mid to late game. -

"Good work, Tester-Three. You guys should try to figure out the pattern, I'll see if I can trick the droid, maybe avoid us all a headache." Igaz approaches the red droid in his best Jek Flakko disguise. "My name is Jek Flakko. I lost my ID and I require entry to my ship." -

"I'm sure there are people who do this more often than I. But if it helps us get to Jek's ship, I will gladly do it again. Maybe we should find you some pink goo, Kleeck, and turn you into a flamingo." Igaz says sarcastically while cracking a rather gross smile. -

Noticing that the Oozelings left behind some red and blue goo, Igaz decides to play arts and crafts where he cannot be seen. He scoops up some of the blue goo and begins to paint his face, helmet, and visor with it. He then scoops up some of the red goo and paints eyes to imitate those of Fangrear's on his visor. "My name's Jek." Igaz chuckles to himself. "You guys can try to fake an ID, I'll pretend to be Jek." Igaz waits for Tester-Three to finish interacting with the red droid to avoid suspicion.
