  1. I love that car as well, it is really neat! About the Pet Shop, I do seem to have quite some leftovers..
  2. I like the white one, that is a colour combination I would like to try myself!
  3. In August I got the Pet Shop set. While from the outside not so impressive looking as the Grand Emporium, it was nice to build. The techniques to create the loo, the sofa and the bed are neat! The minifigures are lovely too :).
  4. I think this is a step up from the Detective's Office (which I don't like), but I won't buy it. Saving my money for Palace Cinema and Parisian Restaurant.
  5. I have the Space/Galaxy Trooper from series 13, but I want the King from the same series. Anyone in the Netherlands or Belgium willing to swap?
  6. I got the Space/Galaxy Trooper, while thinking I had found the King (thought I had felt the crown). Anybody in the Netherlands or Belgium willing to swap for the King minifigure?
  7. Sweet :D, blends in very well with the rest of the square and the buildings on the leftside. Looks very natural.
  8. This is really a great square! I love the details as the little flower shop :)
  9. Wow, the train station looks fantastic! But the ballet academy and the building next to that, look fabulous as well! Do you have more pictures of your town? Because this is pretty much a town every child dreams of!
  10. Has anyone tried to bricklink Town Hall and Fire Brigade? Are those sets easier to get parts for then Café Corner and Green Grocer, ie. no rare pieces?
  11. I have bought the Grand Emporium, and Pet Shop will be next. But I have to wait till next month. Do you guys reckon it will still be available then?
  12. No, not yet ;) :D I have some windows and doors somewhere, so I can try to build a small house. But as I have other things to do, it might take a week or so before I can begin :(
  13. So here is my review of the Grand Emporium! The first I thought when the box arrived: What a big box! I have never had, let alone seen, such a big box like this. Wow. When I opened the box (very carefully off course) I saw how many bricks there were. So.many.bricks. After unpacking and opening the bags with number 1, I could begin with building! Instructions were clear (allthough I was fooled twice with dark grey/black), I could follow them easily. Building the Grand Emporium was the first time I built a big set. And a advanced one at that as well. When I began unpacking the box, I wondered if the build would be difficult for me. Since it was a big and advanced set and since it has been at least 15 years that I had been creative with Lego, I feared a little bit if I would succeed. But I needn't to worry: within 3 or 4 hours I had completed the first book with instructions. It all went well and I was having fun! During the next two days I had fun with building the rest of the set. Not many parts were left over, but I am going to keep them anyway. You never know! The minifigures are really nice! All in all I am very happy that I have bought and build the Grand Emporium and I know for sure that Pet Shop, Palace Cinema and the Parisian Restaurant will be welcome additions as well. And sometime I going to bricklink Cafe Corner, Green Grocer, Town Hall and Fire Brigade. But what do I hear? I hear we have to go immediately live for some breaking news! Let's see what is going on! Reporter: "Yes indeed, FabulandLover. We are here live at the Grand Emporium, which shut for closing time about 30 minutes ago. Today was opening day for the shop, and we have talked with several people about the new addition to the town. At my side we have Gabrielle, the owner of the store. So, Gabrielle, tell me: how did the first day went by? Was it successful?" Gabrielle: "I have to say, the first day exceeded all expectations. Everything was awesome!" Reporter: "There was a lot of attention indeed! This is footage from earlier" Reporter: "We are now joined by a lively young boy. So tell me lad, what did you enjoy most in the shop?" Boy: "The ice cream!" Reporter: "Well, that is clear. We also asked other locals what they wanted most. Surprisingly the answer was a residential building or an apartment complex. Some entitlement going on here, I think." Reporter: "That was the latest news here, if there are any updates we will be live again. Back to you, Fabulandlover!"
  14. Yeah, a bit "go big or go home" Thanks guys :) Wow, what a thoughtful response! I really appreciate that. Thank you so much! And just what I needed :) I KNOW, RIGHT?! And thank you for the welcome ;) Going to make a review of the Grand Emporium and post it soon :).
  15. Since I have bought the Grand Emporium, I am officially out of my dark ages :D I have almost completed the first book, and I love building it. Woohoo!
  16. Since I today ordered my first modular, the Grand Emporium, and since it is the first time I bought Lego since I was a child I am officially out of the dark ages :)
  17. Well, I can buy Grand Emporium for 299 euro's (around the same in US dollars) at a Dutch webshop and Pet Shop/Palace Cinema for the normal retail price. Grand Emporium is pricey, but since it a retired set 299 euro's is a bargain. And since it's the one that sparked my interest in Lego again and to come slowly out of my dark ages,.... But on the other hand I fear Pet Shop and Palace Cinema are going to be retired soon, and since they are at normal price right now...
  18. Debating which modular I should buy: Grand Emporium, Pet Shop, Palace Cinema or Parisian Restaurant....
  19. That's neat :D !
  20. I was wondering if people have other hobbies beside Lego? I am into webdesign, reading and theatre :)
  21. Sadly, yes . Maybe I will find it back in a box with other old childhood stuff. True! But I think that the TV truck is still quite modern. I also found my big gray baseplate and road plates back. Hooray!
  22. Awesome city square!
  23. In relation: this article from Lifehacker: http://lifehacker.com/lego-figures-make-perfect-cable-holders-1586830454 The picture they use also shows a keyholder! 24. Hi Lego Historian! I hope it is OK to ask you something in this topic: what do you know about the history of Fabuland? Are there any nice stories/anecdotes about the idea of Fabuland coming to fruiton? Is it known why the theme got discontinued?
