  1. Santhor, the second barcode is on the right side and has no numbers. What list are you using that contains numbers? Because no list i've seen has any. And if all else fails, you need to feel the bags out for the spartan helmets.
  2. Online PAB is rather expensive and is not useful for "bulk" buys that we are talking about here. This is referring solely to going into a physical LEGO Retail Store and buying a brown box full of one type of LEGO piece. These boxes are what the retail locations use to refill their physical PAB walls that people fill cups with. Its a great way to get a lot of a certain piece.
  3. I concur . You should probably put the LEGO away for now. As you've explained there is little justification for dropping serious money on something more important that is competing for your limited resources. I did the same thing during college. I spent ~$70 throughout my college career but when I got out and found a job I've ramped up my purchasing. Actually my limited pallet of bricks in college was extremely fun and helped me develop new technique too. A girl may not understand at first, but as you grow closer you should slowly reveal your love of the brick. My wife is supremely supportive of a hobby that allows me to spend time with her on the couch and will one day get me to play with our kids. Everyone needs a hobby. One day you'll want to come back so don't get rid of things if you can't bear to keep them on the shelf. Maturity places new demands on us, but will also one day provide more resources with which to expand your collection. LEGO will be here when you get back, but you don't really need to leave either. Building doesn't require constantly buying new sets just tearing the old ones up.
  4. That is true, I have been hearing this in a few places and I guess i felt like I finally had to vent it. :)
  5. Very cool, so this is an invitation only event I take it? Not a general AFOL convention?
  6. I have to entirely disagree with this post. I can understand the concerns, but I see it differently. First, the gender imbalance reflects nothing more than business sense based on the demographics of the buyer. If LEGO was 'gender balanced' (what does that even mean?) it wouldn't sell the great products as it does today. The complaints about 'gender imbalance' comes from some theoretical ideal that simply can't and shouldn't be implemented without a marketable reason, otherwise it would endanger the entire brand. What is puzzling is that all of this criticism comes during a time when LEGO has seen the demand for female minifigs increase (and we're starting to see more female builders, which is awesome) and I feel LEGO has done a great job of increasing and diversifying the inclusion of females into their sets and minifig series. Great female hair pieces, faces and torsos have been a great selling point for me on the Prince of Persia, Agents, City, and Castle lines and I applaud LEGO for what they've done. The Collectible Minifig series is doing a great job so far, imo. In my experience little boys do not really like female figs and since they represent the largest demographic it makes sense that LEGO is catering to them with action and adventure sets and themes. Plus Steve Witt has confirmed there is an upcoming line for girls in 2011 that should provide a bountiful supply of female minifigs and advance a more diversified and balanced line if that is what you are looking for. As for the Mexican, I am confused to how it is racist. People from Mexico are called Mexicans, so thats not a bad word. Sombreros, sarape, and maracas are classic Mexican objects that they are proud of, as far as I know. Is this any different than a German themed fig that would be outfitted in Lederhosen? Or a French fig with a stripey shirt and beret? I'm sure Canadians would be offended by the 'overused' or 'stereotyped' image of a Mountie if that oft called for fig were to be created. Just my $.02.
  7. Series 2 is appearing in the wild here in the US. Brickset reports they have been found at TRU in TX and has the US barcodes! May the ridiculousness commence again. How many poor children can we get to cry with this round as we take all the figs before they can get them? ;) Lets hope the distribution really is fixed.
  8. Perfect. That is an outstanding ship. Kudos!

    Toy Wars

I commented on FLickr, but again these are an original and brilliant idea. They turned out amazingly well. Thanks for sharing.
  10. This is a beautiful MOC. Who cares about the accuracy issue, its LEGO. This thing looks awesome.
  11. Indeed, you are spot on. They've been spotted in the wild. Someone on Flickr just picked them up at a Toys R US in TX.... here we go again. Lets hope the "fun" aspects of series 1 are less "fun" this time around.
  12. Awesome review. The parts in this set are great indeed. I think that Series I is still my favorite though. I'm not really looking forward to these making their way to the states yet... collecting series I was far too time consuming and difficult. I don't want to repeat it again.
  13. Thanks for the great review! Never bad to see what the opposition is doing, but it won't win me over. I guess thats a neat little action figure. But I quit collecting those years ago, I like building toys called LEGO and this is NOT a building toy nor is it LEGO. MB still suffers from low quality plastic gloss and it just looks cheap. I don't feel like I'm missing anything with my Minifigs, even if they don't have ball joints.
  14. hadn't seen these before today, they look great! Thanks for sharing folks!
  15. Maybe I should have kept this to myself... ;)
  16. This theme is definitely confirmed. Steve Witt, LEGO fan relations, confirmed it at BrickFair 2010. I heard it with my own ears as did many others. He wouldn't give any further details about which movies were included but said we will get POTC in 2011. Edit: TJJohn Blogged it: http://bricknotes.blogspot.com/2010/08/steve-witts-q.html
  17. How far is NCLUG from you? They are an amazing LUG.
  18. SPIII was a great theme that we were lucky to get! Awesome aliens and police figs really provide so many possibilities well into the future. I think its probably done by this time next year. I'll add my voice to the hopeful return of Blacktron in the future though!
  19. I'm looking at my gunmetal/brown swirled musket that Badger gave me right now. I have to say, looking at it makes me want more! This prototype is sublime. The details are there but they don't overpower the simplicity of LEGO that we adore. The length and size of the gun make it look great in the hands of my Napoleonic soldier. I am not alone in my opinion, at BrickFair Badger was going to lend our Napoleonic military display dozens of them, but because of the heavy demand he had to sell them instead! What a great reception to this great gun! I hope this convinces Will to move production up on this thing. Imagine this thing in the hands of the near 500 troops we assembled at BrickFair 2010! I only supplied 30 or so men, but big props to Magnus, Casey, and Chris on their contributions! PS Badger I loved the bronze bayonets that Dan had on pre-sale!
  20. has post-BrickFair Depression

  21. Having received a copy of the KAR 98, the Pod Gun, viewfinder and Heavy Laser Cannon I can say that they are amazing protos typical of Will's unsurpassed quality. I bought several tan and white Stahlhelm's and have to say that they are gorgeous. The colors are a perfect match. The KAR 98 is a great gun and one I hope Will hurries into production. Thanks for getting one into my hands at BrickFair Badger! I'd also like to add that the ApocaLego contributor pack is great thanks to BrickArms for providing those. I guess I'll talk about the Muskets in the other thread.
  22. I got lucky this weekend at Brickfair and got these for 50% at the Running of the Bulls hosted at the LEGO store. 10197 Fire Brigade 7573 Battle of Alamut 7572 Quest Against Time 7594 Woody's Roundup 8085 Freeco Speeder x2
