I've been a huge fan of the Adventurers series since it was released. Indiana Jones, Prince of Persia, and now Pharaoh's Quest have all added great elements to the genre and I've been inspired to create Mods and MOCs for sets that I always wanted as a kid. Now that I'm older and have a supply of pieces I have the opportunity to expand on the 1930's pulp adventure theme, which is full of fun, danger, swashbuckling, historical(ish) nonstop fun. This is the first of a series of MOCs based on this theme. Different adventure heroes will make appearances. When I saw the camels in Prince of Persia I knew I would need a bunch of them, I have 3 more that I didn't fit on here. This MOC is really long and very difficult to photograph, so I apologize in advance for the image quality. I'll also warn you now that I incorporate BrickArms and Brick Forge gear into the MOC. The Adventurers, led by our hero Johnny Thunder, head out into the North African desert in search of ancient Egyptian artifacts. Led by experienced guides, the camels are loaded with all the gear they will need. The entire caravan. Johnny leads the expedition! Gail has gotten a makeover and is excited for another adventure. (Why did she get a makeover right before a trip through a sandstorm ridden desert? I dunno. Why does my wife do her hair before going swimming? Some questions are even too difficult for LEGO to simplify.) Heavy gear, instruments, and tools carried by the camels will be important when they reach the dig site. A Radio and some heavier weapons. Just in case. Tools and a bunch of elephant tusks. The tusks were confiscated from Baron Von Barron’s henchmen. Colonel Lethbridge, a veteran of many expeditions, keeps a wary eye at the rear of the column. Side shot of the caravan, 9 camels in all. For more, see my Flickr Stream. Keep an eye out for my other Adventurer's Quest creations, coming soon! Let me know what you think! C&C welcome.

Hey folks, In the spring of 1999 as a nerdy 14 year old my Mom and Dad surprised me with the ultimate geeky birthday present: a trip to the first Star Wars Celebration in Denver. Living in Utah my Dad drove me to Denver in our 1991 Camry over the icy mountain passes to the Mile High City. The next three days were Star Wars heaven. Sure there was a massive rain storm, way more people than anticipated, and a small venue; but it was amazing. Right as you walked in the door a wonderful sight was beheld, one that filled your senses, thats right the Decipher booth for Star Wars CCG (which is what I spent the weekend playing). :) Next to it was the BEST booth though: LEGO. LEGO spent the weekend deonstrating their newly released Classic and Episode 1 lines. They had life sized Star Wars characters like R2 and Chewie all in all a great booth. Of course, I excitedly walked away with a few copies of the free promo Duplo brick emblazoned with the LEGO logo on one side and the Star Wars Episode 1 logo on the other. Star Wars Celebration 1 Duplo Promo Brick, 1999 by Tervlon, on Flickr Classic yellow duplo brick with the original LEGO Star Wars logo of the Episode 1 cast. The printing has held up well for the last 11(!) years. The quality of the printing is okay but not up to our current standards from LEGO as the resolution is satifactory but not amazing. Star Wars Celebration 1 Duplo Promo Brick, 1999 by Tervlon, on Flickr On the back, a large LEGO logo reminds the recipient of the source of the precious promo. Final Thoughts Great historical promo representing the beginnings of the LEGO Star Wars theme. Besides the rarity of the item, it is a good looking keepsake and has some great sentimental value. Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

Painted statues! Hat and hair combo... this is all too much. What a great theme. -
I'd say pick up SPIII if you want any of them as they are on their way out. PQ will be around for the next year, so you have time to worry about them later. SPIII is great, I don't regret any of the sets I picked up. After seeing the PQ sets up close at my last LUG meeting I'm excited to pick them up!

Whats with everyone telling us how the magnet sets are supposed to be used? I thought the beauty of LEGO was that it could be used in a variety of ways. If LEGO wanted these to have the limited appeal of just the fridge they would have glued them from the beginning, but they saw an opportunity to cash in on a cool way to sell figs. All thats going on here is that we are unhappy about the CHANGE in the direction. Nothing more. We don't have to be happy about this to enjoy LEGO. Especially since the change will detract from our LEGO happiness. The market will ultimately determine if LEGO made the right decision, but the market determination is partly dependent on our reactions as we are part of that market. This is natural. It happens whenever a product is changed, a show canceled, or political action is made. No one HAS to be happy about this, but the discussion is healthy. I totally respect the anti-Chinese plastic crowd I just really loved being able to get these figs in an easier way. That convenience has been removed now and will now result in me having fewer cool figs. Of course, I'm unhappy. But I still like LEGO and am grateful they are around, both feelings can co-exist trust me. Just like I love my wife unconditionally, but I'm really unhappy when she scratches the car.

Is there any diffrence in UK and USA city sets?
Tervlon replied to exon_from_youtube's topic in LEGO Town
Set selection is virtually the same between countries. There is rarely a major set that is available in one country and not another. If you are in the US I'd check out stores beside TRU (set get a significant mark up there). Also, the Online LEGO shop is a great resource to see what is available in every country. -
The back of the leather jacket is exceptional! I'm happy to see the Fez return, too. Thanks for the pics!

It looks like each of the Mandos have something gray on their back to me...

I'm guessing Endor or more likely the PoP Battle of Alamut will be the sale item at Target this year.
-
Nice. This will be a great zombie head too. :) See folks, the initial images we saw were PRELIMINARY and did not reflect the final product. So far the figs look great.

I can confirm that I've seen both of these sets at bricks & mortar Costco stores in Northern Virginia.

Minifigures Series 2 Box Arrangement & Distribution
Tervlon replied to desultor's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As others have said, the box is normal. It is odd, but consistent with every box I've seen, that the same figs are clumped together in the case. Just don't pick anything on the left side if you want a Spartan. -

One point each to: 43) Mime Artist Entry (Build by L-space) 25) Mexican Entry (Build by Jippon) 22) Vampire Entry (Build by lisqr) Difficult decision, they’re all amazing. -
Wonderful, wonderful review. This set is indeed a must buy. I can't wait to pick this up. The mini figures are wonderful. Bellatrix's hairpiece has got to be one of the best female hairpieces in all of LEGO. I really need one of her. Great set.

Good call on the fresh account. Dano confirmed to me that he had his account deleted today because of spoiler pics he had uploaded. I don't know if anything else was involved in the account deletion, but seeing as how my account has my personal builds I didn't want it deleted. Thanks for hosting them.

Nice. Just beware, Flickr will delete your account if you are reported.

Sorry folks, had to remove the images from Flickr. I think we all knew that was coming. Hope you got what you wanted.

Who says they aren't in the catalogs? We've only seen a few pages of the catalog, plus if POTC isn't released til March-May 2011 it may not be in this catalog as it mainly contains things that will be out in Jan 2011. Patience. :) -
Nausi sent the images over to me, I'm hosting them on Flickr for now. Get them while you can. See the images of the 2011 NINJAGO line here: On Flickr Special thanks to Nausi who took pictures of the European retail catalog.
