Maybe I exaggerated when I said "faded beyond recognition". This is what I can show you. I have no idea why they fade. Maybe it's sunlight, grease or the paint itself. Six faded torsos aren't pictured since I use them as paint racks. Classic Castle: 13/15 Crusaders (crossed axe & lion): 27/36 Falcon: 4/28

ziljin Thank you. They are all humans, even Count Bricula. The vampire part is merely inspiration. As far as I know crusaders & classic castle are a waste of money when it comes to torsos. Prints & stickers aren't good enough. Seems lika a good idea to rotate. I'm building 20+ factions & guilds at the same time. Had to make a spreadsheet to keep track of everything. Nice dark forestmen-unit. There's one minifig I completely forgot. Need to fix that.

What's the best way to store minfigures?
Magnus the Great replied to ziljin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I just copy my answer from another thread. For storing of my minifigs I use something similar to Ikea's Kassett Box. It is only 2 ¾" high but it should be enough for a minifig. My boxes are half an inch higher. That is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks! -
I made a quick overview of my old minifigs. Percent torsos which faded beyond recognition. Classic Castle (red/grey party per pale & blue border): 85% Crusaders (crossed axe & lion): 75% Falcon: 15% Generic breastplate: 10% Forestmen: 0% Peasants: 0%

ziljin Thanks, nor did I. It was when I stumbled on BrickLink's Reference Catalog I discovered the shield. http://www.bricklink.com/ Your crusaders look good. Mine are far worse. 75% of my crusaders has faded beyond recognition. The corresponding figure for my Falcons is only 15%. Ogre Thank you! Mythos Those Crusaders are great. I wish I had time to do something similar. Count Bricula Count Bricula: I wanted to do something with all my conquistador helmets & leftover armor. The black helmet & the metallic silver armor happened to fit well with both the shield & the vampire. As usual, I had to make him human. The three different plumes reflect their rank. If it isn't obvious, his name is a pun based on Lego & a fictional character, which in turn is inspired on a 15th-century prince.

ziljin I'm not too fond of the vikings either but do I like two of their torsos. Their helmets are horrible. For storing of my minifigs I use something similar to Ikea's Kassett Box. It is only 2 ¾" high but it should be enough for a minifig. My boxes are half an inch higher. Hoboman BrickTW has some good things in their stock. The color looks like TLC:s old dark gray. Is it? de Gothia Just so you know. I will copy some of your combinations. Black headgear on a Crusader looks good. I don't do that but maybe I should. Dragon plume on a great helm is great. I will use my plumes the same way. Don't have any in white, though. You are right about combining the elfs & the dragons. They work well together. The part I might copy is the dark green & yellow flags. For now I only have dark green flags, but yellow flags really supplement the shields. Gnome hat on a forestman is definitely something to copy. Only to get some variety. Ogre Fearsome dragon army! Baron Mathayus: This is the best thing that came out of the Knights Kingdom II-line. Baron Mathayus is named after a fictional character. Baron Balthazar: These are rather dull in my opinion. I put them together with mostly leftover parts. Bought a few shields to make them complete. Maybe they need some more color. Baron Balthazar is named after a fictional character. Baron Aether: I created a nobleman inspired by the four classical elements (Greek). From left to right: Cousteau (water), Linnaeus (earth), Baron Aether, Tell (air) & Molotov (fire). I wasn't sure if I should do Baron Aether in black or white, but I decided on black since I will have a white knight in a different faction. Cousteau should have a red hat but it wasn't enough stealth. Baron Grishnákh: A human being in my version but he is named after an Orc.

ziljin I tried to see them as belts but in the end, it is too annoying. Luckily, it is easy to fix. The classic knights are among my favorites. I used to have alot of them but the prints faded & the stickers fell of. I'm thinking of making my own as soon time permits. The Dragon Masters are among those I don't like. Though your Dragon Masters looks good. 8 dollars for one single plume? I guess I'm lucky since I have two complete sets. To bad they aren't in production any more. Nice Forestmen & Royal Knights army. I use my forestmen as civilian hunters but I don't have any Royal Knights. A few shields but that's about it. TheLegoDr You are right but I guess we see what we want to see. I see a g-string. I was a bit disappointed when I got my first Lion knights, and they had light bluish gray arms. According to the images on TLC:s website (at the time) they should have red arms. DaleDVM Thanks, nice to hear. It felt like I didn't have a clue what I'm doing. I guess I have some clue after all.

That is hilarious. Brilliant way to use the lizard costume in a medieval theme.

Thanks, I had to turn to three different BrickLink vendors to gather six knights. There are of course some who sell them in larger quantities than six, but it feels silly to turn to one vendor and buy nothing but six torsos. In return I'm jealous of your ninjas & samurais. I hope I can build a small army of ninja/samurai warriors in the future. Currently I have merely four black ninjas. While I'm at it: Duke Aslan, Baron Legolas & Baron Salazar. Duke Aslan: My third largest faction & currently one of two dukes. Aslan's hair is painted to make it look more Aslan-isch. However, it is a bit too dark. I got rid of the mandatory g-strings, besides the four knights standing behind Duke Aslan's champion. They have prints on on their g-string. Replaced the light bluish gray arms to red, as it was meant to be from the beginning. Baron Legolas: I'm not in to fantasy so I got rid of the elf ears & gave them different hair styles. Didn't like their sand green arms either. I prefer dark green arms but since I have a shortage of it, I chose reddish brown instead. Baron Salazar

How many factions in your kingdom?
Magnus the Great replied to madoka's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I have one large faction and around 40-45 sub-factions (emperor, cardinal, dukes, marquis, counts & barons). Sometimes friends, sometimes enemies, always rivals. Only half of them are complete. The remaining are missing a few parts per faction. I'm trying to assemble a horde of barbarians, probably vikings. It is a slow process since I want a wide variety of torsos & equipment. Five civilian guilds (masons, miners, carpenters, blacksmiths & hunters) may also ally with a sub-faction if necessary. In addition to the above I also have 25-30 fantasy minifigs (trolls, deamons, undeads etc) which I don't know what to do with, since I'm not in to fantasy. -
Is there some sort of Castle Minifigure Faction Guide?
Magnus the Great replied to ziljin's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I guess TLC was not willing to take too large risk. -
Is there some sort of Castle Minifigure Faction Guide?

It is a mess when it comes to generic torsos. Take the breastplate torso from the mid 80's as an example. It appears in five combinations & three factions. Black torso, black arms: Black Knights & Falcon Knights. Blue torso, black arms: Black Knights, Falcon Knights & Lion Knights. Blue torso, red arms: Black Knights & Lion Knights. Red torso, black arms: Falcon Knights, Lion Knights & the armor shop clerk Red torso, blue arms: Black Knights, Lion Knights & a generic knight On the other hand, it creates an opportunity to use them as you wish. I use black torso with yellow falcon shield, the blue torso with the blue falcon shield & the red torso goes with my crusaders. -
Yes, that is right. All my noblemen are influenced by a myth, legend, philosophie, folklore, fictional character, place or similar.

I figured it's time to contribute with more images. This time it is Baron Baloo, Baron Louie & Baron Ferdinand. They have a few men each, but together they form part of a larger army. Baron Baloo Baron Louie Baron Ferdinand

A belated response. No, not a single Harry Potter head. I'm not fond of the heads with glasses. It doesn't feel right in this era. However, Count Godric has a head similar to Godric Gryffindor. Thanks! That color combination looks good. I like it. I envy your four classic castle knights. I wish I had some of them.

That's a t-shirt I would like to have, along with black falcons, forestmen, crown knights, and the current lion and dragon knights.

Nice, there are too few mocs with winter landscapes. Not that I'm doing anything about it, but it's always a little more appreciated to see.

No, I did a rough classification for myself based on the number of soldiers. Duke: 30 and more soldiers Marquis: 20-29 Count: 10-19 Baron: 1-9 Some more or less depending on the equipment. It is no measurable science. The idea is simply that it should give a hint. Baron Herne and Maugrim have ten soldiers each, which is more than I imagined, but I do not want more Counts. Count Godric and his men are heavily armed but it is at the expense of their number. Currently I have five Counts under construction and about ten Barons. Some Barons with as few as three or four soldiers. Thanks, I try not to have too many colors in each group. The first thing I always get rid of is TLC's mandatory g-string.

This is awesome! I feel sorry for the Falcons. They seem to be vastly outnumbered. -
Product Review of BrickForge Instrument Series
Magnus the Great replied to Cygnet's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
You are welcome! Bummer! Hopefully BrickArms have it in stock for a long time. It is far better then a 4L bar. -
Thanks for all the pictures. I've got some ideas to reflect upon. Here is my first contribution. I am trying to create a nobility where every nobleman equip some soldiers. So far I have completed three nobles (Count Godric, Baron Herne & Baron Maugrim) and their troops. I have simplified the noble ranks to Duke, Marquis, Count and Baron where Dukes are highest ranking and Barons lowest ranking. Somehow I'll try to show this by the number of soldiers and the quality of their armor and weapons. Count Godric Baron Maugrim Baron Herne

Product Review of BrickForge Instrument Series
Magnus the Great replied to Cygnet's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I use a BrickArms bayonet as a bow. Edit: A small picture. http://www.flickr.com/ -
Nice battering ram. I might copy the orc helmet. Some suggestions. If you want more color, you can complete the roof with leather hides in different colors (brown, yellow, tan, orange, flesh) and in the other end of the battering ram, I usually put a tan boat stud to mimic lumber.

Thanks Cygnet! This is a review I have been looking for. I like the shape of TLC's helmet better, but I am disappointed that the plume and helmet is in fact one piece. I have been uncertain over the helmet color. It seems too 'goldi' for my taste and your review shows that it is true. In the case of the shield, it is very disappointing. BrickForges is much better. Overall I am happy that I spent most of my money on the torso. Though I have replaced Legonidas yellow arms with blue arms. A sad thing I noticed is that Legonidas yellow arms fit very loosely on other TLC torsos.

Fenris, I saw your pictures earlier today and I must say I like them. Tonight we dine in hell is my desktop wallpaper at the moment.
