  1. A little update. I moved the bumber 1 stud forward, and yes. it looks better than the bumber hidding under the grill. Here's a picuture for the scle between the Arocs and Unimog. also I began to rebuild the front axle, so it wont bend as much as it does now. started to add a trailer too, but I might change it to a 2 axle cart instead of this one with turnable + frontaxle.
  2. cool ,,, sounds really good :D .... I haven't tried yet...
  3. Thank you ... yeah,, I can see what you mean... the hood will need some final work... and yep, it feels like the bumber is hidding under the grill, so I will try moving it 1 stud forward (shouldn't be hard ) Yep, the front axle is the hardest part,, also I only have 3 U joint and 1 CV joint..
  4. Why haven't I thought about this earlier .... going to try it... Thnx
  5. Hi! Here's a little update :... I've been sorting some old sets, so I've been away for some time... trying to fit a decent U4000 cabin, bumber and hood/bonnet... Hood will be openable, but you will only be able to see 1 of the 4 cylinders. The grill is built like on the Arocs and my Zetros, Been trying to build a U4000 bumber, but I'm not sure about it yet. side view. The fenders, doors and the rear wall will be rebuild, because at this moment the doors will have to be 6 studs long, and I want it to be 7 studs long instead. My front axle with FWD will also need a rebuild, because it does bend a lot because of the weight. .... so the build is going forward, when the cabin, bumber and so on is done, I will try to fit a crane/crabber behind the cabin, and a small winch thing in front.... winch will be without the string so far.... a 2 axle trailer will possible be fitted on the back, maybe with dumber bed. update will follow this weekend
  6. I got the rear axle mounted. with single mounted wheels and a new suspension. Wheelbase also matching the real U4000, but it is a bit longer than the real one. Will try making the gearbox more compact so I'll get a more precise scala. so the drivetrain is still 4x4, and with a matching gearing in both the front and rear. but only with differential at the rear. (Efferman's mini differential would fit great in my front axle), but I will try finding a way to use a stock differeantial into the front axle. suspension works great in both the rear and front, and the chassis does only bend a little. As you can see, I had a lack in U-joints/CV-joints, so I had to let the drivetrain through some bevelgears, so the suspension would be working. Also the front axle has a good suspension travel so far, but at this moment the steering will be working minimal when the shock are fully compresed ....
  7. so I just rebuilded the drivetrian.. and it fits much better now ... so now for the rear axle.... with or without dual wheels... -i know the real one has single mounted rearwheels...
  8. yeah.. at first the plan was a 6x4 chassis, but I changed it.. and the plan by now will be a 4x4 Unimog + a 2 axle Trailer. there will be 2 or more PTO's on the unimog + a numbers of Pneumatic connector output. so like on the 8110 unimog you will be able to mount a winch in front, a PTO driven trailer(tippertrailer) etc.
  9. Thank you so here's some picture of my progress so far. Engine replaced by a 4L engine, As in the real one, lowered a stud. Front axle mounted with FWD, steering and suspension works great, but the FWD mount on the chassis might need some rebuild, because I think it is a bit to low .... when I got the rear axle mounted, the chassis will be 2 studs higher than on the Arocs....
  10. Today I spend most of the day to get my front axle to fit at the chassis (needed some rebuild) ... but at this time the steering works, drivetrain works almost fine and the suspension seems to work great.... and then the time ran away, so I didn't get to take some pictures before it went to dark, so I post some tomorrow
  11. The sets I been rebuilding time after time will be my 8110 Unimog, the 8285 towtruck and last my 8258 Crane truck My favourite would be the 8285... I can remember it from the first time it apeared at the tv... and then it was a must have ( but I got it 2 years ago) But anyway, I dissamble all me sets circa 2 times each year, Washing the parts, maybe then do some mocs, and final spending the rest of the year rebuilding the sets again ..
  12. Ok... same here.... LDview is 64 version. using Win 10 Home and has 8GB ram
  13. After looking at Piterx's FWD axle from his Fiat Panda moc, I came up with this front axle for my Unimog It's a bit hard to make a driven front axle out of only 42043 parts. but I kinda thinks it will work for now...
  14. yep.. excatly.... going to stick to the existing parts from the set
  15. Thnx.. I might try that... seems to be missing only 1 of the cv joints
  16. Yeah ... it isn't impossible... I just have to figure out the right way
  17. yep... It's should have a 4L engine... at first I though it were a 6L engine like in the Zetros, Arocs and soo.... so this will be change into a 4L engine.... Making more space for fun as it will be a D-model of the 42043 set, I will only use parts from the 42043 set--- and it's a bit difficult to make a so compact FWD with those parts .... I'll try anyway... maybe I find a solution Also the wheels will be change somehow... because those 62.4x20 looks to small for an Unimog in that size.... Maybe I should make a complete D-model for 42043.... and then later make a upgraded D-model, with new tires, FWD and so :D ... instead of those 62.4x20 wheels I should put these on in a upgraded version..... it's the wheels from the 42000 Racers... might be looking good when I got the rear chassis part done, and mounted a cabin
  18. So this will be my second topic on eb beside my 42043-C Zetros topic. This time it will be a D-model for 42043 Arcos set, and like the C.model I will continue the Mercedes Benz theme. The D-model will be an Unimog U4000 only build with parts from the 42043 set. facts: Mercedes Benz Unimog U4000 (4x4) 4 Inline engine Lenght: 5410 mm wide: 2336 mm Height: 2612 mm tyre size: 335/80 R 20 so if the model should be in a perfect scale of the IRL unimog, it would be a 1:16 build acording to the 62.4/20S lego tyres, because those are the one we have in the 42043 set. that means the 42043-D Unimog U4000 will be Lenght: 34 Studs (+-) Wide: 19 Studs (+-) Height: 20 Studs (+-) Pictures of my "don't think or calculate, just build" progress below Update will come....
  19. I didn't remount the front axle... mainly because the front grill and bumber to big . ... placing the front axle 4 stud forward would mean that the bumber, grill, hood cabin etc would be move 4 stud forward to.... I think it will help a little with some bigger tires,
  20. yep.... full instructions will be uploaded tonight :D ... yeah, been rebuilding some parts of it.. so the one pic on rebrickable is the current one, :)
  21. Hm yep... It crashes right after page 25. I'm gonna take a look at the one at 26...
  22. my main file is the one called "42043-C.mpd" ...
  23. Hi! I got some problems with Lpub [Again] at first it loads the instruction just fine with no errors, but when I try to print it into PDF or trying to load more than 1 pages at the time, it is showing this message, https://www.flickr.c...in/photostream/ and then loading partlist and no steps/image on the page. https://www.flickr.c...op/27002238712/ And if I check the assembly file in LDview, it has no errors... but keep crashing in Lpub.... Anyone got an idea why this is happening? ... Complete assembly file with submodels: https://www.dropbox....z7uo88Wfaa?dl=0 I have no idea what causing this, so I asking you :D ...
