Ah, drat. Well, hopefully that means they can't be too far away from being available on B&N. And as regards Fishpond - Ahahahaha, no. Last time i ordered from them it took an age, and was packaged really poorly. It would take a pretty massive bargin from them to get me to go back there. And thier pricing on Lego atm is rather ridiculous. Ooh, interesting about POTC. Have that line even been released yet?? -

: I had a look cause i'm hanging out for the Pharaoh's Quest sets as well, but i don't see them on B&N. Just the regular 2010 sets, and not many of them either. If i may ask, how did you find them? -
Wow, that's huge! Amazing work. I love the greenery and the bridge around the border. The catapults look like they mean business too.
-
Omg, this is so amazing i don't know where to start! The roof! The snowscaping! The 4 poster bed! The awesome cutaway! The goat! Totally inspired work. Also, great use of the Fabuland figure too.

Thanks for yr kind comments! Haha, yeah, i flat out used up all my brown tiles on the viewing platform roof and roof walkway. I was thinking of more a cobbled stone floor, but i was out of grey 1x1 rounds and didn't have enough grey plates to even consider that option, soo... yeah. Also, the interior was looking quite crowded with detail and it kinda looked nice to have an area of solid colour/texture as a contrast. Thanks mate! Yeah, they are my favs too. My 6066 forestman's hideout has a special place in my heart for sure. Thanks for yr comment!

Definitely like the second view better - its an awesome pose and a real challenge to have achieved. If it were me i'd have switched the road to the other side of the base so you could see both figs and some more background detail. Also, idk if you have any, but maybe yellow rubber bands? The leg is a hard one to resolve - perhaps brick building one might work?

Thanks for the kind words! I just uploaded a pic of the bow in isolation to my flickr - for some reason i can't seem to hotlink the image here, but the link is below:

Beautiful creations, the articulation is just brilliant! I especially like the way the wings fold up when the dragon is grounded. Ragdha and Fythold would have to be my favs as well.
-
Thanks! Yeah, the sextant was the only thing i found that remotely resembled a sight. Compound bows are very modern, Wiki mentions a patent granted in 1969, but then Eric of Belgrave was very ahead of his time! Thanks heaps!
-
Looks amazing! I'm always such a sucker for snow scenes. Can't wait to see the second part to yr entry!
-
Oooh, ultra hard to choose! Ok, here goes: twigman 1 kost u grlu 1 gcanik 1 Dix 1 Cecilie 1 Best of luck to all the entrants!
-
My thoughts exactly! I'm not so fond of the large head/foot peices, i'd rather brick built, but it's certainly less cartoony than the old castle dragons. The wings especially look awesome!
-
Ooh, very nice! What are the interiors like? I'd love to see some pics if you have any.

This is just beautiful. The way the ruins are covered with the flowery creeper is beyond perfect. Oh, and look, a bit of a joke... cause i bet the handsome prince is a bit of a creeper as well!
-
Thankyou all for yr kind words! @TheWarden, unfortunately the terms of the comp state i can only post 3 pics of my entry, none of them larger than 800x600, so these are the largest i have online. It's a shame i didn't think about how it would photograph at that size when i was building it - quite a bit of the detail gets lost. Maybe i should have made the brick-built bow stand out a bit more at least... it's supposed to be a compound bow, which is a bit of an archery joke!

Hi all - here is my entry for the "Rob the rich" catagory in CCCVIII. I hope you enjoy it half as much as i enjoyed making it! The kings tax collectors from the MMV were easy pickings for the forest renegades, especially when they decided to take a "short cut" through the deepest part of the forest. After divesting the tax collectors of thier booty, Robbie and his merry compatriots pay a visit to the the eccentric bowyer and fletcher of Belgrave, Eric Lomax. Eric tells Robbie that for a hefty fee he will sell him a new prototype bow he has been developing, one which will shoot faster and more accurately than the traditional yew longbows, and be faster to load than crossbows. Robbie shells out in an instant, thinking gleefully about the upcoming archery tournament in the nearby hamlet of Sherwood - surely with this awesome new bow he can claim first prize and recoup the outlay? But wait! Oh noes! It looks like a Crownie patrol have recognised Belgrave's most wanted. Will Robbie get away? I also fear for Eric - hopefully he won't be subjected to extrordinary rendition to an troll/orc labour camp or anything. Hope the pics aren't too large - my apologies if so. I tried to grab the smaller images from Flickr, but i couldn't get them to show. Thanks for looking and happy hols everyone!

I picked up one of those 5974's for parts - surely can't go wrong at that price. -
CCCVIII preparing for war: war on the backbone of peasants
Gabe replied to turambar's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Ooh, nice clothsline. I haven't seen apples in red before either. A nicely realised scene... poor old villagers. -
I kinda like the black helms, but you might want to also check out the elvern helm and spears from Brickforge - they look great in silver. I got a few for my centaurs but i'm thinking of going back for more once i get some elves.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 4 discussion
Gabe replied to legokuate's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh dude. I am so going to be all over series 4, based on this. Hazard suits!1!! (totally going to make me some Half-life MOCS when i get those!) Geishas! Punks not dead! An artist! A mad scientist! And i'm going to have to get hold of the new viking shield, the figure skater's hair and the muskateer's floppy hat. Not to mention the skates. With all that good stuff, i don't mind the new surfers and skateboarders either. 2011 is going to be an epic year, i feel. -
That's the saddest news. Bricklink is such a fantastic site. My condolences to his family.

I got this set yesterday and can i just say, it's effing brilliant! My partner dug out her old 6080 and we put them side by side, and you really can see the pedigree. The octagonal bastions on either side of the gatehouse are genius and the gatehouse itself is wonderfully imposing. I did pull off the silly catapult things though.

What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here
Gabe replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Brilliant suggestions! Fwiw, i'm throwing my vote behind beekeeper, gardener, zulu warrior, mongol archer, highland piper, amazon warrior, 18th century composer (yes!), wushu martial artist, nun (double yes!! i want a heap of those), buddhist monk, faun/satyr and crazy cat lady. I really really would like to see a more complete line up of martial arts represented... i know it's a crazy dream, but there are 4 there already, right? (Karate, wrestling, ninjutsu and sumo in s3) Wushu/kung fu would be awesome, especially in a silks/sash torso and leg pattern! A fencer would rock too, also a western boxer, maybe muay thai boxer and a capoeirista as well... won't someone think of the "ultimate tournament" MOC's that could be made? Btw, while i'm at it, can we please also make some of the martial artists women?? Actually, more female minifigs all round would be super nice. I'd love to see a female only collectable set... it would go a long way to redressing the horrendous gender imbalance in my minifig collection.
