  1. Nice work! A very detailed little town. Of all yr buildings, i think i like yr hotel the best, but all of the brick built signs are great. I do wonder though - how can the villan lug in 7 crates of dynamite without anyone suspecting?? I would have thought the bandana would give him away as a crook!
  2. Thanks Rolltron.
  3. Thanks LegoDadRobb and horizon, i'm glad you like my little snow temple. I really appreciate yr comments.
  4. Haha, this is the cutest! Nice work Athos.
  5. Wow, that's a classy MOC Fat Tony! I love yr minifig posing, and the admiral torso for the soldiers was a great choice. The broken stucco revealing the brick wall behind and the palm trunk pieces for the support beams sticking out of the wall really stand out too. You've managed to squeeze quite a lot of detail into a relitively small space, and yet it still manages to look clean and uncluttered. Nice work!
  6. Wonderful MOC Hinkley! The height of the submerged temple looks spot on, and yr weathering effects and ornamentation are great too. I'm especially fond of the row of 2x2 plates with technic pin holes under the roof line - very clever, i'll try to remember that one. The one thing i'm not sure of is the water surface - the uniform trans-clear studs make it look a bit like a bubble bath to me.
  7. Ohh, this set looks super-amazing. I ordered it on B&N last week and i'm hanging out for it to arrive already! Thanks for the review Pikafunk, i suspect i'll be revisiting this review for the next couple of weeks to whet my appitite!
  8. I really don't know about this theme. The "moulded dinosaurs" bit is putting me off, i think. Now if they are going to be brick built like the Ninjago dragons, i'd be much more enthusiastic. One thing's for sure, they are going to have to be pretty awesome sets to match what the PQ line has given us this year!
  9. Haha, cheers! Like i said before, i wish i could get up to the snow this year, so perhaps there is a bit of wish fulfillment in there. Thankyou very much! Yr kind comments are very much appreciated. Thanks LT! No spinners in my ninja universe though...
  10. Dude, that's looking great! The front especially looks very imposing. The repeating arches on the side are a nice motif as well, but i can't help but think that 3 layers of arches (with the bottom layer having an arch within an arch even!) is visually a tad busy - also it looks a bit odd that you can look through the second layer of arches into the castle interior! Perhaps 2 layers of arches with some arrow slits or mottled wall sections worked in might work better? ps. Yr tree looks great too!
  11. A lovely diorama Blake Baer, i like the evidence of agriculture lying around outside the walls, looks as though the inhabitants have been taken unawares and just managed to get inside and bar the gates in time. (In time for them to be burned down, that is! ) I'd quite like to get a better look at the defenders though, do you have any pics from inside the town?
  12. Very nice fortified structure you have there, de Gothia! The red roofs really give the buildings some pop and the landscaping is great too. I quite like the way you've used the hinge bricks for decoration as well. I was wondering though... what are the slits low down on the walls for? They look too low for arrow slits. Drainage perhaps? ps. I love the gnome cap on the forestman. Well played, it looks perfect!
  13. Finger's x'ed that you'll be allowed to print this design - i'd love to buy the wolfpack one!
  14. Thankyou very much! My last few moc's have pretty much exclusively used "modular" or stackable levels for accessing interiors - i think i might try something different next time.
  15. Wow, this has to be easily my favourite lego vessel i've seen. It's just so smooth - the shaping of the stern is amazing! Can't wait to see her fully kitted out and crewed. Yr Armada project sounds massive too - i'll certainly be looking for yr updates on how that's going. ps. Congrads on being frontpaged and blogged btw!
  16. Wow, congrads on yr first ship (is it ship or SHIP? I'm not sure), she's a real beauty! The colour scheme is great and those engines sure look the business. ps. I saw this got blogged on the brother's brick too!
  17. Thankyou very much for yr kind words, i'm glad you like it. The printing on the owl piece is a beauty, isn't it? So much better than the old plain owls. Thanks! Yeah, i was a bit annoyed with myself that i hadn't left more room for the structure. Especially with something like a Japanese castle, that tapers as it reaches the upper levels. Everything just ended up so cramped! I'm going to have to pay a bit more attention to space considerations in future i think.
  18. This looks great, i hope yr daughter is stoked with it! I especially like that side wall. Are you planning on putting a working drawbridge in there? It looks fine as it is, but it's one of those playability features that is hard to go past.
  19. Haha, thanks! I think it helps with landscaping snow that it's winter here. I wish i was in the snow too. Also looking at Legolas9823's "Piz Nair" really inspired me as well. Ah, i'm glad you noticed the frozen waterfall! I really wanted to find a way to work in that crazed ice piece in the Ninjago ice dragon set - my only reservation was that it's a different colour to the blue of the frozen stream above it. Thanks for yr other lovely comments too! Gosh thanks, that a huge compliment - i love Norro's work, his landscaping is on another level altogether! Entrance to the caves was one of the first MOC's to officially blow my mind when i saw it. Thankyou also Cecilie, Landshark and Nightshroud99 for yr kind comments. I'm glad to hear that you think the temple looks alright, one thing i really feel like i struggle with is coherently realized architcture.
  20. Wow, colour me gobsmacked! What wonderful, droolworthy creations! You really have an eye for the interiors as well, everything is so perfect. They fit in seamlessly with the official sets too... love it.
  21. Wow, it's looking amazing so far. I love the dark red curves and gold accents on the side of the ship, they look really smart. The shape of the front is looking great too. I'm with those who are calling for a longer vessel though, i think it will end up looking a bit stubby as it is currently. As far as the back end goes, i'd favour a single bireme tail - hard to shape, but there has to be a solution out there somewhere, right? It'd look brilliant, anyway. I really like yr Atlantean troops, with all thier backstory - gives yr creation that much more depth and colour. I can't wait to see yr finished ship in action!
  22. I wasn't sure whether to post this in the action forum (since i'm using ninjago ninjas) or not, but as there is precious little action in my moc and the feel is more castle-y than dragons and giant monster trucks, i thought i'd park it here. Mods, I hope that it is appropriate, if not then i'm happy to relocate it. Anyway, onto the MOC! So this is the first big(gish) MOC i’ve made in a couple of months. I wanted to do something with the ninjago minifigs and i wanted to make a snow scene, that’s pretty much where it started. Iinitially i was thinking of the the snowy fight scene in Kill Bill, with the CM series 4 geisha as the lead character against a ninja attack, but it sort of morphed into something quite different. I initially build up the base so that i could get some stairs in, and then added the snow caves and the cascading tree. I was planning to build a fortified house, but i couldn't get a feel for the architecture, and so just kept piling dark bley peices up into what eventually became the lava tube. I sort of had Orodruin (Mt Doom) in mind as i was building, can you tell? And then the Japanese castle inspired thing behind it started to take shape last of all. The levels of the temple/castle come apart to show the interiors. I think the shrine level came out the best, largely because of the colourful strip i put around the top. The others look a bit bare, but then i hadn't left myself much room to work in. This is also the first time i've used a light brick in a MOC! I put it behind the rock fissure that leads into the lava cavern. (sorry about the grainy pic though) Anyway, thanks for stopping by and taking a squiz. More pics can be seen on my brickshelf or my flickr.
  23. Wow, what an amazing creation... so much to look at! I love the interesting shapes you have achieved, and of course the modularity is brilliant. As a fan of the whimsical, i particularly enjoyed yr hall of fools. Some of yr water effects really stood out for me as well, especially the wizards hat and the flag.
  24. Ohhh, that sucks about the crash, especially with something that big. They looked great though, i hope you get back to rebuilding them bigger and better. Yr shelving looks pretty speccy too!
  25. Happy birthday Taz and LT! Hope yr having a great time up in Canberra!
