Great first photo, very evocative! (Even if the thought of scraping sand out all those tubes gives me the heebies)

Thanks guys for the encouragement, i think i just snuck my watchtower in on time! The link to the finished tower is here - for some reason only the first pic is showing so far, i'm assuming that Brickshelf hasn't moderated the others yet. Edit: no, just me being clueless. Fixed the broken links now. NiceMarmot, you should totes have a go at a round tower, they are heaps of fun to build! The only drawback is that they chew up the parts like nobody's business. Rasputin/Robuko, I love your heliotrope among the ruins - looks like those things might become as ubiquitous as mobile signal towers someday...! -
The eastern fiefdom of Peregrinus, and in particuar the port city of Berigora has been of late undergoing a program of public works, under the current rule of the Peregrinus's new lord, Erudhalion Sansael. After pledging Peregrinus for the Kaliphlin guild, Lord Sansael orders the restoration and refurbishment of the ancient port garrison of Arad Dukkar, which is built into the cliff face at the entrance to Berigora harbour. It's large, flat top is the ideal location for a new watchtower and lighthouse. The old fortress walls and battlements are repaired, and the new tower adds over double the height to the existing structure! Lord Sansael and his personal gaurd inspect the finished watchtower, and are shown the sights by the tower's new commander, Sir Barold. Lord Sansael is well pleased. "From this day forth, i rename Arad Dukkar as The Tower of the Dawn, as it heralds a new dawn of secure trade for our fair city!" Lighthouse duties are not for everyone, but grizzled soldier "one-eyed" Jaccus loves it. Not only has he got a wonderful head for heights, but he has keener sight out of his one good eye than most men have in both! The lighthouse is well stocked with oil, coal and kindling, and Jaccus feeds and stokes the fire with a long paddle throughout the night. Here he greets the dawn, looking forward to being relieved so he can go and have a kip. Sir Barold's quarters at the base of the new lighthouse tower. The pressures of command certainly bring some home comforts along with it! The garrison at Arad Dukkar is well provisioned and has ample space for storage, sleeping space, dining and an armoury. A better view of the upstairs dining area. Downstairs to the right is the armoury, whilst there is sleeping space in the bottom of the large round tower. (Which you can't see, sorry!) Here you can also see one of the nightshift gaurds winding down with an ale before bed. And just cause they are super cute, here is one of the bunkbeds for the gaurds! They look inviting, no? The sharper-eyed among you might have noticed a tub of shot on the battlements, but no catapults to fire them. Lord Sansael's next visit will be to the armaments workshop, where he will be lighting a fire under those lazy sods - hopefully we should have new anti-ship catapults for our battlements soon! Thanks for looking peeps - c and c welcome as always!

Ok, so i said i wasn't going to make the deadline for contributing a watchtower, but i was feeling good on the weekend so i've made a start anyway. Hopefully i can get it finished tomorrow and post some better pics, but this is what i've done so far: It's a watchtower/lighthouse for the entrance to Berigora harbour. I went a bit crazy and it's grown much more than i'd planned... -
Great work! Love the shaping at the top of the tower, and the landscaping around the base is really well done. A beauty!

I love this, so striking and inventive! A little bit of James Bond in there with the parabola of mirrors! Really nice seeing the moc out in the world too, gives it a real sense of being in the desert. -
Nice tower Erynlasgalen! The recessed arches look great and i like the multiple balconies too - it gives it a sense of lightness and airiness. Great height as well. The only thing i have misgivings about is the side view - it makes the tower look like it is leaning backwards a bit.
-
Great little outpost and i love the mechano-bow! The snow drift really sets it off nicely too.
-
Great design, it really suits an Elvern tower... sort of halfway between organic and alien. It almost looks like it could take off! The underground tunnels are a great idea too, and i love the little half round stair and mosaic in the armoury.

Just stunning use of texture and intergration into the landscape. This has to be one of my favourite towers!

Great work, i love the detailed backstory. The design and colours of the tower and the observation deck really stand out nicely against the tan of the cliff-face, and the addition of the desert vegetation at the top of cliff is a nice touch too. I understand what you are trying to do with the forced perspective and for the most part it works well (especially the microscale town and river at the bottom - so cute!), but i do get the feeling that the observation deck is a little too big to be that low down on the cliff - if you raised it maybe 4 or 5 bricks it would really give that sense that it is a long way down to the bottom of the scarp. Also it would be great to see the moc against a plain background - there is so much to appreciate in this but it is kinda hard to see against the window like that. But you've done such a great job overall with what is a very ambitious build.

Sweet little watchtower, shows you don't need a heap of bricks to bring a quality build. I agree that the stone base really intergrates the tower into it's surroundings, and the landscaping is great too. Just one thing - it looks like the gaurd is blowing his horn backwards? (into the broad end)
-
Lovely build Taz, i'm really digging the balcony and the little structure at the base of the tower. As for peace in our time, who knows? Keep on building those watchtowers, just in case!
-
Wonderfully detailed work, Captain Blackmoor! I love the dark green and white colours, and the shaping of the windmill is beautifully done. The interior is just the icing on the cake! Great stuff.
-
Wonderful build, so impressive!
-
Lovely colour scheme (dark blue and tan, mmm!) and rocky background, and the SNOT base works really well, with that little path to the doorway. I like the ostrich riders too. Top work!
-
What a beauty! I'm sure our ships will have no trouble spotting this, even without the fire lit!
-
Lovely tower, it has just the right amount of detail and colour. The monkey gaurding the entrance with a crossbow is a cute touch too!

Hee! This is awesome! Love the story and characters, perfectly shot and illustrated too. Here's to more scientific breakthroughs! -
Dead set amazing - i love it! I agree that it now needs some traps, swinging walls and quicksand or lava pits to spice things up.
-
A very nice workshop scene J4ke! I love the little crane and the shed on the roof.
-
What a great looking tower! The white is very striking and the first floor supported by "spokes" coming out of the wall like that is ingeneous. It kind of reminds me of modern day water towers. The only thing that niggles at me is the colour and shape of the roof - it just looks a little flat and squat for such a gravity-defying structure. (I think i'd prefer to see something more rounded and/or colourful) But that's really just a minor niggle for such a nice build.

Wonderfully detailed map Viceroy! This shall be very useful in my travelling in the region.

Yay, i'm back! Wonderful to see so many awesome builds and armies coming out of this guild, and NiceMarmot's map is just wonderful - thanks for adding Berigora btw! I'm not up to building just yet unfortunately (i'm recovering from some pesky surgery), so i doubt if i'll get a watchtower together by the 15th. However, i do have plans for fleshing out Berigora, the valley of the centaurs, the causeway bridge and also the small island to the east of Peregrinus (as yet unnamed), where the breeding grounds of the fabled great southern wyrm are situated - i'm hoping to start getting some builds together in about a week. Anyway, a few responses are in order from Erudhalion and his harbourmaster: Many thanks Lord Jones, your trading vessels are always welcome in Berigora. We do indeed trade in dragon products that are shed on a regular basis, such as scales, teeth and claws, and our armourers have devised cunning ways to incorporate them into armour, weaponry and other utensils. However i do need to inform you that the theft and trade of dragon eggs is prohibited in Peregrinus on pain of death - we are very close to dragon breeding grounds here and we maintain good relations with both migrating and resident wyrms. Hail Darecold and well met! Your vessels look stout and most seaworthy, and your trade is always welcome in Berigora. Not only can you purchase fine ales from our fair city, but we can also repair, outfit and upgrade your ships for a reasonable fee. We also sell trade maps of the coastal south, should you be passing that way. Also, i don't know if your clan has the human habit of cooking meat before comsumption, but the centaurs can sell you olives and olive oil from thier groves, as well as fragrant herbs and spices such as nutmeg and cloves (very nice in warmed wine!). Thanks for the plug O master cartographer! Although we sell our beer by volume, not weight - i'll put 20 large barrels on standby for you once i hear you or your representitive is on thier way. Btw, if you enjoy robust ales (and it sounds like you do), may i suggest you try our local speciality, double strength red truffle ale? We make it with fermented fungus harvested from our secret cavern routes through the Raketh. It's certainly an aquired taste, just don't drink and sail! -

So glad that you are perservering with this build - it's one of the most original castle towers i've seen in ages. Can't wait to see an update!
