(2015) May The 4th Be With You Offers - Discussion thread!
Jdurg replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Ordered my UCS Tie Fighter and Simpsons Qwik-E-Mart on Saturday, and they got here today. In the box, much to my surprise, was TWO Yularen minifigures and the poster. Sadly, the poster was caught up in the tape used to seal the box and ripped. I e-mailed Lego customer support and they immediately responded and are sending out a replacement poster. Customer Service there is amazing. I'm not sure if I got two Yularens because I spent $200 on the UCS Tie Fighter, or if it was a mistake. Either way, I got one sitting in my Death Star right now, and the other remaining sealed up. -
That is one of the coolest videos I've ever seen!

(2015) May The 4th Be With You Offers - Discussion thread!
Jdurg replied to Lobot's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I was looking so forward to the May the 4th this year, as it's the first year I've been fully out of my Dark Ages with Lego. Sadly, two weeks ago I badly broke a bone in my left foot and am in a walking boot. So driving up to the Lego Store and walking around to get to the store in the Mall would be fairly uncomfortable. Besides, I have to work on Monday so I can't take the time off to go up there. I was VERY happy to get an e-mail in my inbox this morning saying that the May the 4th sales/features were in effect today. So I went and ordered the Tie Fighter Ultimate Collector's Edition today, as well as the Simpsons Qwik-E-Mart set. I got my minifig and the Episode IV Star Wars Lego Poster. Can't wait for this stuff to arrive. I've run out of room in my Lego Room to display this all, so I'll have to put some shelves up in my poker room to house some of these sets. Figure it would be fun taking down a huge pot with the Tie Fighter, Millennium Falcon, and various other classic sets on the shelves in the room. -

75055 is the only ISD that I have, but I love it. The interior is large enough to allow for some modifications if one would like, and as stated by others the minifigure selection is fantastic. The ship itself is also VERY sturdy and able to be moved around without fear of something breaking off. The inclusion of a handle to carry the ship that neatly hides itself when not in use makes playing with the ship quite easy. I'm actually buying another one during October for Double VIP points for my little nephew as a Christmas gift. He's only 4 years old, but is able to build some complex sets with help from Uncle Justin. :) He will LOVE the set as he goes crazy about minifigures and loves Darth Vader. -
Hit up the only Lego Store near me and picked up another AT-AT, a microfighter X-Wing, microfighter Millennium Falcon, and the 2014 Advent Calendar. Waiting for the UCS Slave I to come out as I really want that. Will be spending the next few weeks working on the Mos Eisley Cantina modification I have in mind now that I have two of those sets.

Went on BrickLink and picked up a few more Stormtroopers. I'm not 100% concerned with small differences, and am actually quite happy that the Imperial Landing Craft I picked up basically has four Stormtroopers. (I can just omit the pauldron from the two Sandtroopers and BAM, they're Stormtroopers). Looking through my collection, with the ISD, Ewok Village, Death Star, The Imperial Landing Craft, and a few other sets, I've got a nice collection of Stormtroopers now. Edit: Just realized that the Imperial Landing Craft and Jedi Starfighter with Hyperdrive Ring are sets from 2007 that I bought still sealed in the box. (At least according to the sellers on BL). Would be awesome if one of those had a Chrome Gold C-3PO in there.

Great SNOT usage! (Man, I can't believe I just typed that out. Haha).

Heh. Isn't that the worst part about ordering Lego? I can't wait for the three sets I bought yesterday to arrive. To satiate my impatience, I simply went and built the sets within LDD. Heh. It's like methadone for Lego addicts.

It was pay-day on Monday, and with a nice little bonus in my paycheck I made a few purchases from Bricklink: 7133 - Bounty Hunter Pursuit 7659 - Imperial Landing Craft 7661 - Jedi Starfighter With Hyperdrive Booster

I'm actually kind of happy that there aren't too many sets that scream out "BUY ME NOW!!!!!" Aside from the UCS Slave I, of course. Having come out of my Dark Ages earlier this year, I have spent a LOT of money on Star Wars Lego. We're talking multiple thousands. (Having been making good financial decisions over the past few years, I had the money to spare and figured there's no point in saving up money if you don't use it). I could actually use a break from spending hundreds of dollars each month. This past summer wave of sets was very money consuming as I really wanted an AT-AT, the Cantina, as well as the ISD. Being able to take a small break for a while is a very good thing. Heh.

I agree. The sudden release of many different Cloud City characters in upcoming sets makes me pretty confident that we'll be seeing a Cloud City released in the next year or two. I really hope my thought process is true and this is correct.

The Slave I rumors made me anxious to finally see the result, and the wait was well worth it. Can't wait to buy that and finally get a Slave I in my collection. Now this rumor about a large 10188 style set is making me even more excited. That set was incredibly fun to build, and the end result of the build is incredible. Another one like that for Cloud City would be absolutely insane and make me an incredibly happy, but less financially sound, AFOL.

I'll definitely need to make a Wuher as I'm currently working with a second Cantina set to MOC it like another user has posted here. So a Wuher is definitely needed for that. If you don't mind me asking, what BrickLink part numbers are Wuher made from?

Found out today that I'll be getting some Lego Star Wars sets from a friend. My friend's wife has a relative who works at Lego in Enfield, CT and is able to get sets at a good discount. She asked me what sets I'd like to get, and I told her that anything is good since with Lego, even if you already own the set having another is never a bad thing. So I don't know what they'll be getting for me, but I'm pretty psyched about whatever I'll get. A gift of Lego is always awesome, no matter what it is.

The 7965 MF was the very first Star Wars set I ever bought earlier this year. It is an incredible set that is very durable, fairly accurate, and is great for display and playability. I would highly suggest it.

If they are including an Ugnaught, and we're getting a Bespin Guard in the UCS Slave I (A ship most famous from the Cloud City part of ESB), then I think it does mean that a new Cloud City set(s) is coming in the near future. This would be why they are producing Bespin Guards, Ugnaughts, and other characters from that part of ESB.

An interesting set that I think could be made, and would love to see made, would be the celebration scene at the end of A New Hope. I know that we've already gotten celebration minifigures from the various DK Books on Lego Star Wars, but I still think that Lego could release some of the minifigs with some different printing to keep those exclusive book figs "unique". Anyway, the set would be the area where Han and Luke receive their medals at the end of the movie. The set would include the door way they walk out from, the area where all the rebel folks are standing, the stage where Leia is standing, and the back area as a wall behind the stage. The set would have the following minifigures: Luke with the medal. Han Solo with the medal. Chewbacca Princess Leia in the ceremony attire. The old guy whose name escapes me who was standing next to Leia. Three or four rebel commandos with the large helmets like seen at the start of ANH. R2-D2. Chrome Gold C-3PO. For C-3PO I know some may have issues worrying about it reducing the value of their gold chrome minifigs, but with the new printing now on 3PO it would end up being a different minifig so it shouldn't negatively impact the value of the collectible. This would give those of us unable/unwilling to shell out the hundreds of dollars being asked for a chrome gold C-3PO to be able to get one in our collection, and would also make sense to have him be chrome gold for this particular scene. I can see this coming out at like $50 or something due to all the minifigures and depending on the scale of the set. Yes, it's not really a battle scene against imperial forces, but not every set needs to be a fight. This is a memorable scene from the movie, and sorely lacking from the series. It's also the only way I can honestly see them finding a valid way to include a gold chrome C-3PO in any sets.

I've been a massive binge buying Lego Star Wars sets (64 sets since getting back into it earlier this year), but have held off on paying the premium for the existing Slave I sets due to the rumor of this one. Glad I held off because this looks incredible! Can't wait for this to release, and I hope it does during a double VIP points month so I can rack up a bunch of points. I have $25 off right now, so whatever the cost of the set is I'll be able to get it for $25 less. I LOVE the VIP Program!

I mentioned this is the "Star Wars Sets You Want" thread, but I agree. Having Cloud City be comprised of multiple sets (like Jabba's Palace and the Rancor Pit are composed) would be a great idea. They could release different parts at different times, each having the ability to connect to existing parts and having individual battle features that would sell well. The room where Darth Vader captures Han and Leia, the Carbon Freezing Room, the duel with Luke, and even the landing platform. Each area would have enough of a battle to make it pleasurable to purchase on its own, but it would have the ability to merge together to create a really massive set that would just be too expensive to sell on its own. Frankly, I think this would be the best way to handle something like Cloud City which isn't one massive ship like the Death Star is.

Having just gotten back into the world of Lego, I haven't been around for anything except this year for when the releases were new. For me, however, 2014 has been amazing. I was able to get the Sandcrawler, AT-AT, ISD, Mos Eisley Cantina, Snowspeeder, and numerous other sets which came out this year that I had missed out on the first runs. I think this year, in conjunction with 2013, has been a very good year for Lego Star Wars fans who just came out of their dark ages.

Just picked up 9490 Droid Escape. Though it's a small set, I thought it would be good to have it next to my 75059 Sandcrawler set. With the massive spending I've been doing (Thank you smart financial investing and mortgage re-financing), I'm actually starting to run out of room. My next major purchase is very likely going to be a large shelving unit to store everything.

If we're going to talk about some PT sets, then I've got a few in mind. 1: Kamino Clone Factory: This would be a great set for building a Clone Trooper army. Would come with Jango Fett, young Boba Fett, the creepy tall creature that Obi-Wan spoke with, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Clone Training area, the conference room where Obi-Wan spoke to the strange creature, and Jango/Boba's "apartment". Though the set may be tough to sell as there really isn't much of a "battle" feature to it, having a bunch of Clone Troopers with training things for them would give some play features. 2: Jedi Temple: Would include the Jedi High Council conference room, the archives, and a Padawan training area. For characters, it would include Yoda, Mace Windu, and one or two other Jedi High Council members. Not all of them, as they are available in other sets, but perhaps the few that haven't been released yet. They could also include a bunch of non-descript young Jedi in training, and the librarian of the archives. The set would be stylized like Palpatine's Arrest set was designed with different areas that attach to each other. 3: Master Droid Control Ship: The ship that young Anakin destroys in TPM. It would be nearly impossible to design a set to scale, but they could at least make something that takes on the shape and perhaps would include some droid ships and numerous battle droids.

Just out of curiosity, is this mod composed of just two Cantina sets, or were other parts used to create the mod? I picked up another Cantina set while out and about yesterday and am planning to make this mod myself. Just wondering if other parts are needed to do this, or if everything is contained in the two Cantina sets? Edit: Heh. Just read the full first post and realized that yes, other parts from the Jabba's Palace set was used. I may have to BrickLink some extra parts in order to complete mine. I think your mod is incredibly well done, and still captures the Lego feel with a vastly improved and expanded upon set. Great job!

Does watching a Star Wars film inspire you to buy Lego?
Jdurg replied to RednWhite's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I have to admit, that whenever I watch a Star Wars film, I have the urge to buy a set. This is what cost me so much money over the past few months. Heh. On the other side, I have to say "How often does getting a Lego Star Wars set make you want to watch the movies?"
