  1. If this actually happens then I beg of you to email a suggestion to TRU that they drop their normal Lego prices to MSRP and when they have a sale on ALL Lego they don't exclude half a dozen themes in the fine print.
  2. Well, I won the Series 8 contest so let's see how I do for Series 9 (some of these are carryovers from my series 8 guesses) 1)Ancient Roman in toga 2)Ballerina 3)Blue Boxer (Since they have already produced the boxing gear in blue for the Team GB fig, I figure a companion to the series 5 boxer isn't far away) 4)Canadian Mountie 5)Cat Burglar 6)Folksinger (Female with hippie hair and acoustic guitar) 7)Gardener 8)Girl on rollerskates/rollerblades 9)Goblin 10)Golfer 11)Good Knight 12)Jazz Musician (with sax or trumpet) 13)Lion Suit Guy (It will be time for another animal costume fig. A lion suit is my preference) 14)Medusa 15)Princess (pink with the old style conical hat) 16)Red Coat (Revolutionary War era fig)
  3. My favorite is the Moria Orc (who currently isn't an option on the poll).
  4. I've found them at Kmart. They've been there about 2 weeks and don't seem to be moving very fast due to much lower customer traffic than Target/TRU/Walmart get.
  5. No, they're right. Three per year. Basically a January release, a May release and a September release. That's one every four months.
  6. Traditionally midnight is called "the witching hour" and 3:00am is known as "the souls midnight" because it is said that the majority of people who die in their sleep do so at this hour.
  7. I did the same thing with the space marine armor for my Mr. Freeze and although I too hate the original clear helmet piece, it looks better when paired with the space armor.
  8. I didn't vote in the poll because my answers would be as follow: Which theme do you like better? I like both original castle themes and LOTR equally well. What would you like to see in the future? I would like to see more LOTR sets (2-3 years) followed by a return to original castle sets.
  9. From the Variety.com article: "WB and Lego already had been producing toys and videogames around the Batman franchise, and will launch a new set of playthings around next summer's "The Dark Knight Rises" through the Lego Batman collection." Due to poor wording people are reading this to mean that LEGO is releasing TDKR sets this summer. I think what it's actually trying to say is that because of this summers TDKR movie, LEGO is centering its 2012 DC Superhero sets on Batman i.e. that's why 5 of the 6 DC sets this year are based on Batman. Next year should see a majority of the DC sets centered around other superheroes.
  10. "Bloody historical context" has nothing to do with it. Crusaders, like the Roman and Spartan figs you mentioned, were soldiers. The more troubling figure is the gladiator who was basically an athlete in a bloodsport. What will keep LEGO from giving us a crusader minifig is the religious association, which is too bad because I would love to have a Knight Templar fig (not to mention an Asian Monk with bo staff).
  11. This would be nice, especially if the telephone box was built into the wall of the Daily Planet (the front half outside on the sidewalk and the back half extending into the building - with both halves being divided). Then you would open the door to the telephone box, put Clark Kent inside, turn a wheel/lever and when you open the door again there is Superman. As far as villains go, Supes has a pretty good rogues gallery to draw on. 1. Metallo 2. Parasite 3. Bizarro 4. Toyman (just give him some brick-built toys turned into weapons) 5. General Zod 6. Brainiac 7. Live Wire (lesser known, but a female villain) 8. Cyborg Superman 9. Lobo (with his space bike please) 10.Mongul 11.Doomsday (a Hulk sized fig) 12.Darkseid (another Hulk sized fig) 13.Parademons
  12. 1. Tatertots - 1 4. Dix - 1 10. Priovit70 - 2 27. Dede_La_Fee - 1
  13. The Toyman wants at least a half-dozen of them to terrorize Metropolis. Of course, I'm sure Superman will make short work of them.
  14. I'll have a go: 1.Canadian Mountie (using the police hat in the new city forest police theme) 2.Carnival Barker (with black derby and hooked cane) 3.Cat Burglar (with crowbar and flashlight) 4.Conquistador (an update on the old Pirate themed version) 5.Diver (the old-fashioned variety) 6.Fairy (with wings and wand) 7.Fencer (with series 4 Musketeer rapier) 8.Folksinger (with series 7 hippie hair in tan or yellow and acoustic guitar) 9.Gardener (with flowers and watering can) 10.Golfer (with golf club and white 1x1 round plate) 11.Greek Hero (think Theseus/Perseus with PoP Dastin hair, sword and round shield) 12.Jazz Musician (a Blues Brothers lookalike with saxaphone or trumpet) 13.Medusa (with ninjago snake tail piece) 14.Rocketman (an adventurers era fig with jet-pack) 15.Sea Captain (like Captain Ahab with peg-leg, hook hand and harpoon) 16.Skier (female in pink outfit)
  15. Nice review. I like the jet pack and street corner better than the 'Bat-Dragster' that we got with the Catwoman set of 2006. 31 out of 50? When I do the math it comes out to 39 out of 50.
  16. Putting together all the info from the last couple of months (Comic Con and various leaked info)here is what I come up with (First set name from Comic Con info and second set name from the Hobbyco site): DC Sets DC minifigs announced at Comic Con to appear in 2012 sets: 1)Batman 2)Robin 3)Bruce Wayne 4)The Joker 5)Two-Face 6)Poison Ivy 7)Bane 8)Catwoman 9)Riddler 10)Harley Quinn 11)Superman 12)Wonder Woman 13)Lex Luthor and if rumors of the promo figures are true 14)Green Lantern. 6858 Batman vs. Catwoman 6858 Catwoman Catcycle City Price: USD 11.99 Minifigs: Batman, Catwoman 6860 The Batcave 6860 The Batcave Price: USD 69.99 Minifigs: Batman, Robin, Bane, Poison Ivy (Bruce Wayne is almost a certainty to appear here also). 6862 Superman vs. Lex Luthor 6862 Superman vs. Power Armor Lex Price: USD 19.99 Minifigs: Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor 6863 Batman vs. The Joker 6863 Batwing Batt/Gotham City Price: USD 29.99 Minifigs: Batman, Joker, Joker Henchman 6864 Batman vs. Two-Face 6864 Batwing* & Two Face Chase (*Batwing should read Batmobile of course) Price: USD 49.99 Minifigs: Batman, Two-Face, Two-Face Henchmen x2 DC minifigs without sets: Harley Quinn Riddler Green Lantern Marvel Sets Prices from Hobbyco site adjusted to USD. Marvel minifigs announced at Comic Con to appear in 2012 sets: 1)Captain America 2)Wolverine 3)Magneto 4)Deadpool 5)Nick Fury 6)Iron Man 7)Hulk 8)Loki 9)Thor 10)Hawkeye 11)Black Widow 12)Spider-man 13)Doctor Octopus 6865 Captain America 6865 Captain America's Avenging Cyc Price: USD 11.99 Minifigs: Captain America (I'd guess it'll be Cap vs. a Hydra soldier or two) 6866 X-men 6866 Wolverine Chopper S/down Price: USD 24.99 Minifigs: Wolverine (probably Magneto and possibly also Deadpool). 6867 Iron Man 6867 Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape Price: USD 24.99 Minifigs: Iron Man, Loki 6868 Hulk & Thor 6868 Hulk's Helicarrier B/out Price: USD 49.99 Minifigs: Hulk, Thor (and probably Nick Fury). 6869 Avengers 6869 Quinjet Aerial Battle Price: USD 69.99 Minifigs: ??? (probably Hawkeye and Black Widow; and possibly Iron Man and a modern version of Captain America). Marvel minifigs without sets: Spider-man Doctor Octopus Having 5 minifigs without places in the currently revealed sets could mean that there will be another wave of sets coming out in the second half of 2012 or it could also mean that there will be several exclusive sets (they don't show up in the retailer catalogs). I could imagine three exclusives (TRU, Walmart, Target here in the US): one for Green Lantern, one for Riddler and Harley Quinn, and another for Spider-man and Doctor Octopus.
  17. That's a good point, but keep in mind that the Marvel and DC Superheroes theme is a major deal also and I don't recall any leaks about that before it took everyone by surprise when it was announced at Comic Con. I understand perfectly - I too am a skeptic when it comes to claims of future LEGO releases; but since Cwetqo has been around Eurobricks for awhile and has proven reliable in the past, I treat his claims with more credibility than the average poster. And for the record, I've been wrong before too.
  18. Don't be too quick to dismiss Cwetqo; he has given us reliable information in the past. A recent example - the first topic for the new Dino theme was started on August 11 (and at that point it was not yet confirmed). But a month before that (July 6) Cwetqo mentioned in a 2012 speculation topic that a new Dino theme was coming. I don't know the source of Cwetqo's information, but he's been right about these things before.
  19. Which is a pity since the dark grey torso and legs with black accents (cape, cowl, hands and hips) looks better than the light grey with blue accents.
  20. Sounds like the typical Creator set releases. A house set, a creature set, and a vehicle set. 7346 Summer House: Instructions for building one of 3 different houses/buildings. 4637 Safari Set: Instuctions for building 3 (or more) safari animals. 4636 Police Set: Instructions for building 3 different police vehicles.

  23. 1) Public Mini-Storage Center - Office, entrance gate and 3 mini-warehouse units. - Rental type moving truck. - 3 figs: Office manager and 2 moving guys. - Brick built furniture that would fit in both the moving truck and warehouse units. 2) Electrical Substation - A small electrical substation with surrounding fence. - An electric company truck with cherrypicker basket. - 2 electric company workmen. 3) Church - Church with belltower. - Horse-drawn wedding carriage (with "Just Married" sign on back). - 5 figs: Priest/minister, Bride, Groom, Photographer and carriage driver.
  24. Here in the USA this set is available at Target (and of course the LEGO Store and S@H).
  25. But you would have to be crazy to order them from there. When I saw this on Brickset earlier this morning I tried to order 60. TRU wanted to charge me $2.99 for 59 and give me the BOGO 50% on 1. To top it off they wanted $86.09 for shipping! All in all it came to a total of $263.99 for 60 packs. When I looked more closely into the BOGO deal their policy states, "maximum 1 discount per order". So I thought about making 30 different orders of 2 packs at a time. That would work except they wanted $7.21 for shipping. 30 orders like that makes a grand total of $350.70 for 60 packs! That's what? - close to $5.85 per pack? TRU is outta their minds!
