  1. When I combine all of my Castle Lego sets, minifigures, and planned future-MOCs into one large display, I'm tempted to use a Red vs. Blue theme with the sides as follows: Red: Crusaders Lion Knights (Original) Dragon Knights (Original) Lion Knights (Kingdoms) Blue: Black Falcons Royal Knights Crown Knights Civilians and Rogues: Forestmen (prior to recent official Castle sets, these were the civilians) Wolfpack Barbarians (what I grew up calling the villians from the Royal Knights subtheme) Dragon Knights (Kingdoms)
  2. Wow! I hope these are not only legitimate, but also the final versions of these particular collectible minifigures because they all look fantastic (maybe with the exception of the alien though his torso print is nice). I'll likely collect all of them, but I don't feel like I will need duplicates of any of them, save for the much-coveted minotaur and highlander. Also, I swore to never buy another skateboarder again after the first two, but I can't help but wish to give that punk girl a spare electric guitar to play alongside the Series 4 Punk Rocker!
  3. I voted for 6378 because it's the only one I own, but honorable mention goes to the most recent set from 2007 since I was highly tempted to buy it...right when it disappeared from stores. 1256 and 6397 were decent as well.
  4. After more than 20 years of collecting, I never had a dark age, and I have been dabbling in most of the themes the entire time. With some themes such as Castle, there may be an off year or two when the sub-theme of the time has no sets that appeal to me. For other themes such as City and Space, I've collected continuously. In retrospect, I probably never really collected based on the themes themselves (exception - City) but more for particular appealing features of sets: minifigures, architecture/design, color schemes, etc.
  5. I miss those particular space sub-themes too! Some of mine are still put together, and I'm on a mission this summer to rebuild those that are not (Blacktron, Space Police I, and M-tron).
  6. 3 - Ignacia Village by quy – 1 point 13 - Attack on the Nile by Yatkuu – 2 points 15 - Rise of the Dread Colossus by Aanchir – 1 point 32 - The Final Ruins by Jalkow – 2 points 38 - Colosseum of Atlantis by Brick_Tom – 1 point There were so many others that really caught my eye, but I voted for these because they were not only impressive but also seemed like appropriate designs for official potential Lego sets.
  7. Originally, I had no intention of buying any of the new City harbor sets, but this one is starting to capture my attention - and your review certainly helped it further! I have the original Cabin Cruiser, and while it is better than this new set, I need more civilian boats in my harbor.
  8. I love everything about this MOC, but your method for simulating stained glass windows impressed me most of all. (I've been trying to come up with a solution for making effective stained glass windows for a castle chapel MOC.)
  9. is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Pirates of the Caribbean Legos!

  10. The moment I saw the "My Cabbages!" topic title, I knew exactly what I would be greeted with. It's a great little scene based on an excellent animated series. I hope to see more Avatar vignettes from you in the future.
  11. I'm in the same position, though I hit critical mass Christmas of 2009. At this point, the Lego room can no longer accommodate further additions, so instead of halting all Lego collecting as my family members wish, I continue to store all current and future purchases in the attic for countless MOCs/projects that I claim "I'll build someday when I live in a larger house." Also considering that most MOCs I build are ships measuring 3-5 feet in length, my Lego collection reached critical mass many years ago just in terms of displaying MOCs alone. One MOC now covers the coffee table in the living room, and I've threatened to collect parts this upcoming summer for another equally massive project to sit alongside or conquer another piece of furniture.
  12. I love that new Alien Conquest polybag set and hope it makes it to stores in my area. However, I haven't decided yet if I want to go to the extent of building an army of ADU troopers. If Lego makes a second polybag set that includes one of the aliens instead, that will be a whole different matter.
  13. There's a coffee machine (actually a small coffee shop and chef to go with it) inside the Metro Station (4554) from 1991.
  14. Classic Deep Sea Diver Gender : Male Print on Torso : hoses, pressure gauge, material folds/wrinkles Type of Headgear : classic brass deep sea diving helmet (use same golden color as Spartan's helmet) Facial Expression : holding his breath/"puffed out" cheeks Color on Torso/legs : dark tan Accessory : Lego Metal Detector (4479) Troll/Orc Witch Doctor Gender : Female Print on Torso : necklaces, talismans, patchwork clothing/two-piece tribal outfit Type of Headgear : same hair as Series 5 Cave Woman (recolored black) with Small Bone piece Facial Expression : female orc face (sand green head) Colors on Torso/legs : brown, dark blue gray, sand green Accessory : voodoo doll (textured/printed trophy statuette?)
  15. As someone finally getting back into Lego trains after nearly two decades, this comes as welcome news since my only alternative for expanding my old 9v system was to pay exorbitant prices on Bricklink for meager amounts of straight track pieces.
  16. It's difficult to pinpoint a single specific feature offered by Lego in 2011 that I appreciate above all others, but certainly, the new minifigures, animals, and other new parts/molds in the summer Kingdoms line impresses me. The Collectible Minifigures Series 4 really outdoes the prior series while Series 5 brings us the last 3 figures/characters I had hoped for since the creation of the Collectible Minifigures theme last year.
  17. I hadn't previously considered using the Public Transport's tram in the place of having a Passenger Train. (I do already own a Public Transport, but have yet to put it together.) Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Actually, I also reconsidered the advantage of using my VIP points on the Passenger Train. It may be more cost-effective to apply those points to the Maersk Train due to the set's exclusivity at the Lego store whereas the Passenger Train can be found elsewhere (TRU) where a BOGO 50% sale at the end of the year may save me more on that set.
  18. For my next trip to the local Lego Store in May, I'm trying to decide between two particular sets: 7938 Passenger Train and 10219 Maersk Train. I can't afford both, so I must choose only one. Typically, I tend not to buy Lego sets priced over $100, but I have $20 worth of VIP points saved up from smaller purchases over the last couple of years, and I believe some of those points expire at the end of this year. Due to the VIP points, both of these sets now reach a more affordable status (7938 becomes $109.99 and 10219 becomes $99.99). My dilemma: 1. I want my "big" Lego purchase to be a train set since the last (and only) train I got was 4563 from the early 1990's. It's time for my town to receive a new train. Previously, I was going to buy the Queen Anne's Revenge until I saw enough pics of the lack of a detailed interior to become disappointed. 2. Since I already have a freight train, I had hoped to get a passenger train next, and although 7938 isn't my favorite of the passenger trains made in the last decade, it's recently grown on me. 7938 also has the advantages of offering me an introduction to power functions trains as well as providing plenty of the new non-9volt track to go with all the straight track I collected via buying multiples of the Level Crossing set. 3. Getting the Maersk Train means adding a second freight train to my town so I'm not really adding true variety, but at the same time, 10219 is a more visually appealing train than 7938. I can easily accept sacrificing the acquisition of track and power functions for gaining this impressive train, in which case I will most likely swap the 9volt motor from my 4563 and run the Maersk Train on my original 9volt track. (I only own enough track to operate one train at a time anyway.) The Maersk Train also has a "special-ness" factor to it as it feels more unique or rare in a way compared to the Passenger Train, giving it an extra value as a collector's Lego set. So, I'm at a standstill. They're both equal in my eyes at the moment, and I suppose it's an issue of determining which is more important: form (Maersk Train) or function (Passenger Train).
  19. I love the color scheme, architectural elements employed, and overall attention to detail. However, I could swear I've already seen this exact same MOC months ago either here on Eurobricks or on Brickshelf...
  20. I could never possibly name just one as my ultimate favorite, but among my most favored sets of all time are: 6274 Caribbean Clipper (pirates) 6276 Eldorado Fortress (pirates) 6195 Neptune Discovery Lab (aqua zone) 6953 Cosmic Laser Launcher (futuron) 6780 XT Starship (classic space)
  21. The Blacktron Cyborg is determined to protect his cargo, no matter the cost (to the other person, that is).
  22. Brickset tallies my collection at 1207. Not bad considering I have only just recently initiated myself into the ranks of Lego collectors that "army-build." So, these figures are just from sets and not bought in bulk on Bricklink.
  23. Of the four castles I own, half are on molded baseplates while the other half are on smaller plates. Personally, I have no preference either way. Each style has its own advantage. The molded baseplates add much to the value of a castle in terms of my aethetics, but castles such as the current Kingdoms one has the advantage of being modular in design, allowing me to expand it with new sections at a later time.
  24. Strangely, as excited as I was for the QAR upon seeing the earliest images of it online, now that I've had the opportunity to examine the interior (or lack thereof) as well as the plain/bare deck, I'm almost completely against a purchase now. (Or at least, the $120 price no longer seems as reasonable as it once did, and I may well wait for a sale.)
  25. I completely agree, and so, that will probably be my plan of action as well when it comes to purchasing Alien Conquest sets. The smaller saucer and the tripod are fantastic, so I'll likely buy multiples of them instead of purchasing the mothership.
