I’m still waiting for a 2xVIP but if it doesn’t happen anytime soon I’ll get it anyway this summer!
-
So would it be Barad Dur instead of Rivendell or in addition to?
-
I think you're also overestimating how many people actually feel the CMF bags and cherry pick what they want. Sure, we may all do it but the majority of customers just grab a few bags and hope for the best. They may come back and buy extra when they notice at home that they're still missing some characters they like, earning LEGO perhaps as much money as if they would have bought a (small) set.
-
I hear you but there seems to be no reason to include Sauron in a set where he wasn't pictured in the movie. Are there any precedents of characters being included in a LEGO set while they had absolutely nothing to do in the movie scene the set is depicting?
-
God your versions (especially the hobbits) look 10x better than what LEGO will put out :o I really like the way you suggest that hobbits have pointy ears and the non receding hairline and correct colours are also a plus!

Forgive me for my ignorance but why it would be an issue to re-introduce pieces for which moulds already exist? Does LEGO completely get rid of certain moulds if they aren’t used in say a 5 year span? That seems a bit unlikely. And if they do, wouldn’t it be relatively easy to recreate the moulds again as the design and technical specifications already exist? Seems a bit backwards that all those incredible moulds would be forever lost now because they haven’t been used in sets for the past 7 years or so.

Could somebody post the link to the pics? I can’t seem to find them. Thanks!

Well they were crazy not to do it last time when it was already a staple for Star Wars, yet they didn't. We cannot know what LEGO thinks will sell well, only hope that they'll see the light :D

Omg a series of vignettes of one or all the films would be amazing if done well. It also increases the chance of filling in the current gaps we have in terms of minifigure representations of the characters. I do think it’s less likely than having a single large build. My absolute nightmare would be a large helmet or sword. I hope that whatever it turns out to be it will be minifigure scale.

This would be ideal for me. Say what you want about TROP but the orcs look amazing and I really liked the First Age soldier design as well (not that we would get 1st Age soldiers in LEGO form as they will probably focus on the main characters, but anyway).

It would be a dream come true... The issue with LOTR is that it has so many huge set location set pieces. If LEGO would release LOTR diorama's of say a piece of a wall of Helms Deep or a gate of Minas Tirith it may not be all that interesting for casual consumers.

Well, the Amazon series is planned for 5 seasons so maybe LEGO will release sets down the line. I certainly hope so… Just imagine, Numenor & Khazad-dum battlepacks…
-
This. in case the Amazon show would suck and the only thing we get out of this are more LEGO LOTR / Middle-Earth sets, it will have been worth it.

Well I take back what I said before ^^, War of the Rohirrim confirmed for April 2024: https://www.polygon.com/22933827/lord-of-the-rings-anime-first-look-release-date

Actually, we're not sure if the Rohirrim movie is on anymore, with the LOTR & Hobbit movie and game rights now for sale... Which is a shame if true, I think it would have been a cool project and it could (have been) a boost to potential LEGO sets. For now only Weta Digital (special effects) has confirmed their involvement. I hope Weta Workshop (designs, costumes, props) will follow suit. On another note, if we would get LEGO sets of the Amazon LOTR TROP show, wouldn’t we have leaks by now? I assume they’d want to release them close to the 2nd of September when the show airs.
-
I was really fond of Bag End as well, but disappointed by the Council of Elrond and the fact that we got a pirate ship instead of Minas Tirith. I do hope they manage to release new sets together with the Amazon series. I think overall the 2012-2014 LOTR minifigures were of very high quality at the time.

LEGO Overwatch - Wishlists and Future Speculation
Trunkbass replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Licensed
Has there been any news apart from those leaked set numbers last year? Are the sets delayed because of COVID-19 or just discontinued because the theme didn't do so well? I'm not saying it didn't, just asking.- 20 replies

The LEGO Lord of the Rings and Hobbit games have made their way back to Steam last month after being pulled a year ago. Maybe this is a hopeful sign that they have renewed or re-acquired the license? See link.

LEGO just released official images of the new Ninjago sets, and the 70605 contains a sort of ponytail that I've never seen before. I'm wondering if that will make for a more accurate Lurtz, as I think his ponytail hairstyle adds to his distinctive look as compared to other Uruks. You can see his haircut here: And the Ninjago set here: What do you think?

Determine exact piece count of your own collection
Trunkbass replied to Trunkbass's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for all the input people! I'm using Rebrickable know, because it has a nice import-from-Brickset function. -
- 79016 Attack on Lake-Town - 79015 Witch-King Battle (x 5) I needed the five wraith Nazgûl ^^, the extra Elronds are nice for a Second Age elf army, but I don't know what to do with all the Galadriels though. - CMF 13 Paleontologist and Hot-Dog guy - Two Pick-a-Brick cups. Still looking for Mirkwood Elf Army and Battle of Dol Guldur..

Hi there, I have searched around a bit, but I couldn't find a good solution to my problem. Is there a way to determine the exact piece count for your own collection? With this I don't mean an overall piece count, but say a way to know how many Tan 2x2 bricks you have. I know you can add your the sets you own on websites like Brickset. They give an overall number for the total, but is there a function to search by brick and know how many of each type you have, based on set info? I know this wouldn't work with added bricks from PaB or Bricklink, but it would be an easy start to know what you have or haven't. Thank you!

Me too, that line-up sounds just wonderful.. It's so sad
