  1. Here is my recent addition to my the UP Streamliner. The Union Pacific # 9009 Dome Lounge Car - aka as later in life as 'City of San Francisco'. A bit more to follow up on but mostly done…mostly.. It has a complete interior which includes stairwell, chairs, restrooms, and the bar on the lower portion. The interior is lighted along with a lighted 'Tomar' drumhead for the Los Angeles Limited. 2. Instead of making new posts for each car I'm going to just update the original. Update # 1: UP Baggage Car # 5811.
  3. Sent you a PM with a link to our Facebook page..
  4. I hate photography in general but I'm getting a 3' light tent which should help (I hope). I've tried LDD...I grew bored and would rather feel the brick rather than just look at in on screen. It works for some people - I just can't build that way.
  5. Yes 814 is a sister to the 844. Many of my measurements that weren't in my books were done in person at the 814. Are you in the CB/Omaha area? You should join our LUG.
  6. @v6TransAM Thank you. I don't do plans. I have tried but computers (especially CAD programs) and I don't have a good relationship. The only way I build is to start putting bricks together to make it look like what I want. @LEGO Train 12V - those custom rods do look really nice! I thank Zephyr1934 profusely for putting those together for me.
  7. The two lights are "marker lights" (UP has a different term but I don't remember it off hand) and they are under and off to the side of the boiler on the 844 and above the drivers. She has two on both sides. Here is a good vid of them turned on (and also one of my faves especially when they wake the town to let everyone know they are leaving).
  8. Still a bit of a work in progress on the engine. More pics coming soon of the entire 16 1/2 feet of Union Pacific heaven... This car has no interior. It houses two XL motors, rechargeable battery pack, infrared sensor, and an extra battery pack which will be explained in a later update. A total of four XL motors (two in the tender/two in baggage should pull what I have planned). Stickers are waterside ink jet clear decal paper; sprayed with clear coat high gloss. 9. I can help you with that. Sent you a PM.
  10. It has about 5 cases of trans blue and aqua 1x1 round plates. (3 cases blue/2 cases aqua). Scale is on par with minifigs - probably between 1/36 and 1/40. The U-156 was a type ixc and was the larger of the u-boats with an elongated conning tower. My type viic u-boat has the typical conning tower - which is posted here somewheres...
  11. On September 12th, 1942 the German U-Boat U-156 commanded by Warner Hartenstein torpedoed the RMS Laconia off the coast of Africa as they thought she was an armed troop transport. Upon surfacing he discovered women, children, Italian POW's, and British soldiers struggling to survive in shark infested waters. Hartenstein began rescue operations and draped a make shift red cross across his deck gun. Lifeboats from Laconia were daisy chained together. He sent a message on all frequencies: If any ship will assist the ship-wrecked Laconia crew, I will not attack providing I am not being attacked by ship or air forces. 4, 53 South, 11, 26 West. ― German submarine. Other U-Boats came to assist the rescue after receiving the message from U-156 Upon discovering Hartenstein's transmission; the British forwarded it to the American's who were operating a secret base on Ascension Island. They dispatched a B-24 to investigate. No mention of the German rescue was included in the message. The crew of the B-24 discovered the U-156 and reportedly never saw the red cross and attacked. The U-156 escaped with only minor damage but a life boat and its survivors were destroyed. Hartenstein was forced to abandon the rescue operation and forced the survivors into the remaining lifeboats or into the ocean. Of Laconia’s original complement of 2,732, only 1,113 survived The German Admiral Donitz subsequently issued the 'Laconia Order' which meant that no U-Boat should assist any shipwrecked survivors. Hartenstein and his crew continued to render aid regardless of the order and were killed in action four months later from depth charges. 12. Thanks to everyone! You are all very kind! It has a flight deck (if you check the flickr account you will find it). I 'modified' a couple of steering wheels to make proper yokes. It will have one bomb rack in the first bomb bay. The front/rear turrets are 'closed' so I didn't see a point of adding an interior in them but it's so tight because of the plates used to hold the bottom part of the fuselage to the top - I don't know if I would have room anyways..
  13. Here is my latest MOC; A minifig scale B-24 Liberator modeled after "Witchcraft"; one of the last surviving B-24's. She the held the record for missions at 130. My Lego MOC has working nose and wing landing gear. The props are powered by a single Power Functions motor. This will be used in a much larger diorama... Enjoy... There is a video in the flickr account but I can't get it to post in the boards... go here to see the flickr account: http://www.flickr.co...s/51492892@N02/
  14. ...lots of blankets and pillows for a soft ride. Is it me or does May to June seem like time stands still?
  15. I moved my boats to make way for a expansion on my drydock and temporarily docked both types of U-Boats together. I liked the way they look parked next to each other.... Full flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/51492892@N02/sets/
  16. Sorry. no pictures. I don't trust her with my camera. My daughter has seen me reading the reviews of sets on Eurobricks and after building the Turtles set she decided to write out a review. Here we go: "What I like about the turtle set is the turtle. He is sooooo cute!!! I like his little hideout. I like the grass too. It's a cute little touch. My dislikes are the island is too small. I want it bigger and this set is too easy to make. I think the turtle should have a bed in the hideout and I wish I could make the clam and turtle out of Lego parts. That's what I think of Turtle Island. I think other kids should buy it as it's a really good set."

  18. Very very nice. It looks very festive!
  19. Very nice! Love it!
  20. Is this also available online through lego shop on black friday or 'in store' only?
  21. Done! Check my flickr for more pictures...
  22. Here was my amazing find at a garage sale. About 90% had boxes in good condition (albeit a bit dusty) and all had instructions in good condition with no pages falling out. The Lego was in good shape but horribly dusty. I just dumped everything in the tub when I got home and I've been sorting for about a week...I shot them an offer of $200.00 for everything. A few baseplates and some white parts were faded but overall in good condition. It also included a bunch of Lego catalogs - the ones that used to be packaged with the sets and the ones sent in the mail or just in the box. Here is the list sets: # 6455 Space Simulation Station # 6496 Whirling Time Warper # 7150 Tie Fighter & Y-Wing # 6915 Warp Wing Fighter # 6145 Crystal Crawler # 6279 Skull Island # 6755 Sheriff’s Lock Up # 6462 Arial Recovery # 6280 Armada Flagship # 6087 Witch’s Magic Manor # 6332 Command Post Central # 7151 Sith Infiltrator # 6761 Bandit’s Secret Hideout # 6250 Cross Bone Clipper # 2129 Blast Off Dragster # 8205 Bungee Blaster # 6043 Dragon Defender # 6769 Fort Legoredo # 7140 X-Wing Fighter # 6020 Magic Shop # 6856 Planetary Decoder # 6333 Race and Chase # 6716 Covered Wagon # 6614 Launch Evac 1 # 6832 Super Nova II # 6115 Shark Scout # 6835 Saucer Scout # 1723 Castle/Pirates Value Pack # 4002 Riptide Racer # 8229 Tread Trekker # 6765 Gold City Junction # 6975 Alien Avenger # 6493 Flying Time Vessel # 8417 Mag Wheel Master # 7141 Naboo Fighter # 6490 Amazon Crossing # 2584 Biker Bob # 6036 Skeleton Surprise # 6442 Sting Ray Explorer # 6155 Deep Sea Predator # 1785 Crater Critters # 6495 Time Tunnelator # 6516 Moon Walker If anyone collects the old Lego Catalogs either the ones that were packaged with sets awhile ago or the Lego catalogs that were sent in the mail; send me a PM as I now have a bunch of extras to trade.
  23. We have 4 Shopko's in town. One of which is basically a 'grandma' store as it's located in the middle of a retirement area but it has incredible sales on Lego. I picked up 5 passenger planes # 7893 for $15.00/each a few years ago along with the new Slave One for $15.00. You just have to watch the stores as there is no rhyme or reason why I see the sales. I just usually check by once a week on my way home from work.
  24. Don't hate the Biebs..but here is our drummer from my daughters Brickworld 2012 Justin Bieber in Concert.. Not a big fan of the Lego Rock Band Set. They could have really did a good job with it but it doesn't meet my expectations. Video of our concert in action:
  25. I'm almost done with my minifig scale Type IXc U-Boat and thought I'd share. It's modeled after the U-505 which is on display at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry. I have a type VIIc U-Boat in drydock. I always wanted to power up a U-boat and have some working functions and it wasn't possible with my type VIIc as it was a cutaway with full interior. So I decided to built one modeled after the U-505. It will be fully enclosed. I learned much from building the other submarine and also some new techniques with the Schnellboot. My U-505 has a much better looking stern and accurate bow along with increasing some weak points that I discovered in the other boats. The type IX's were large ocean going U-Boat's and were roughly 35' longer than a type VII. The most noticable difference besides the length is some sexy conning towers and the lack of obvious saddle tanks. My boat will have 5 functions; all controlled by touch sensors from a detachable control panel. 1) Moving propellers 2) Moving Stern Dive Planes 3) Moving Bow Dive Planes 4) Opening/Closing Bow Torpedo Doors 5) Raising/Lowering Attack Periscope. I have two videos on my flickr account (I can't get them to embed) of the stern dive planes and periscope. http://www.flickr.com/photos/51492892@N02/
