I think they should keep it in Chicago. Although this was my first brickworld; I agree space will be an issue if more people keep coming. I suggest the Schaumburg Convention Center about 15 min south of the Westin. It's down the block from the Lego Store. Bigger center, bigger hotel, nicer amenities. I noticed on the hotel's website they were offering a room at 89.95/night. But I understand a loyalty to a certain establishment and it's Bryan and Adam's show.

Thank you to all who voted my boat for 'Best Sea Vessel'. The award will be displayed proudly on my shelf.

My first Brickworld as well. It was very inspiring and my thoughts are already racing on what to build for 2012. It was an honor to meet many of you and hope we can meet again. My only complaint was on public days was the parents who wouldn't watch their small children; besides parenting lessons on manners I don't think we can do much about that. Since this was my first; is public day usually that crazy? I couldn't believe how many people showed up to view the creations. Lego should have really had more of an appearance with that many people showing up.

Are you ready for Brickworld? and countdown clock...
nebraska replied to DaleDVM's topic in Brickworld
I'm ready! I'll probably start to tear down next week and box the smaller parts and have everything ready to go! -
Does anyone know if they are doing the light and sound again? Is that something we sign up for?

Hello all, I'm trying to build my own Deutschen Bundesbahn for my diorama. I really like the front smoke stack on this model but after hours of searching on bricklink...I can't find it. Anybody help identify the front smoke stack? http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=3182532

One last update for my peeps at Eurobricks. The Chicago Brickworld 2011 official title is "U-595 in Drydock" http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/261113 http://www.flickr.com/photos/51492892@N02/

Well...I decided against a u-boat pen and went with a diorama of a drydock in Brest France. It's still a work in progress but enough done to put up some pics. I'll get them on flickr next month as I used up my allotted space. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/251908
-
I'm sure I'm a little paranoid but do they lock down the exhibit area at night or do they provide security? I wondered about other 'guests' walking in and changing the MOC or helping themselves to the work.
-
Does anyone know if they have power outlets available for displays? I'm planning on attending for the first time and have quite a few lifelites to power up.
-
I might eventually have a U-Boat pen and of course, men would be working on the boat after it's tour. Here is a Lego welder working on the conning tower... Just 'finished' the boat and am currently updating the MOC page. Enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I got tired of waiting on MOCpages so I started a flickr account. It has some pics of the 'laughing sawfish' instead of Potter on the Conning Tower plus quite a few of the interior lit up. Enjoy. http://www.flickr.com/photos/51492892@N02/

Done with one side (well...i still need to add a few more details) http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/210178

Almost done with the interior. I need to add a few things to the forward torpedo room; which in the end will be more of diorama but just added some 'clean' shots of the room. I'll hopefully have the electrical motor/aft torpedo room done within the next few weeks and start sealing it up and finishing the exterior. I'm planning on bringing it to Brickworld 2011 as I have other obligations this year. here is the folder that has the most recent updates... http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/113475

Ughhh.... Nice review but why does Lego feel the need to make the wings one piece? I cut it out on a custom Embraer 170 and they held up just fine. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/66437

Trains have been confirmed? Oooh! Outstanding. I hoping for something like the old Sante Fe sets... As far as the new airport..eh, the plane looks like the old passenger plane. Why does Lego have to include the braces in the middle of those wings?? They work just fine without them. I did a mod of an Embraer 170 for my bro and it wouldn't cost Lego much more to do a plane like mine... I do love the tanker truck and I will get a few of those.. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/66437

Here is my 'perfect prop'. Lego needs to make me one exactly like this. 1 1/2" diameter should equal about 5.1' diameter in minifig scale! I'll use them until Lego can hook a brother up.
-
I agree 100% on the tanks and my order just came in!! They were just expanded last night :) I would LOVE to visit the U-995 (the above picture). I have the CD of the 'tour' for her; which is very useful when building the boat except I don't think the colors are acurate on the interior. The U-505 in Chicago actually tore away paint to find the bottom layer; sent it in for scientific analysis to find the perfect shade for all their valves, walls, etc. etc. Of course, the u-505 doesn't allow pictures/video on the interior so I try to go by memory until my bro finds the pictures we took about 30 years ago when they allowed photos! Still scouring the web looking for the perfect prop....

It's been awhile since I updated the post but I am requesting some help here. Hopefully some great builders will have an idea. I need a new prop! The lego 'boat' prop is too small, the larger 3 finger prop is too thin and looks horrible. Does anyone know if any other company (gasp!) makes a decent prop that's about the size of a mini fig? I'm considering using a couple of props off a model boat until Lego specifically designs something for my u-boat! I've been busy with family stuff but with fall aproaching; i've done quite a bit of work to the boat. The new pictures have the deck removed and i've been working on the interior. The control room will actually have the dive plane controls work the dive planes. I'll hook them up to a motor and when you look inside you will actually see the dive plane control wheel spinning as the dive planes lower or raise. The saddle tanks will be longer once my shipment gets in sometime this week (thank you lego for making the dark grey!!) But if anyone has any ideas about the prop - please give me a shout. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/149765

Actually a fire department would be a perfect fit for a citizen oriented series if you model after one of New Yorks historical fire houses. Any of these would look absoutely awesome and a pizza parlor could easily fit in next to one if that's what they choose.

sorry...try this one: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/50351
