  1. No, it's still too large. If it were built in scale to the Assault Carrier and the GHOST, it needed to be half minifig-scale. That scale would have been too small to get the color scheme in. Even at the scale at which the model is built, the color scheme is still only an approximation of the actual paint job Sabine has done on this TIE.
  2. To be honest, I promised to do detailed photographic instructions for the GHOST in February, but since it is such a complicated build, breaking it apart into segments that can be built separately and photographing the individual steps is a task that takes way too much time. That being said - and I make no promises here - I will propably break the model up into its individual segments and make detailed photographs of the segmented builds, especially the builds that create all those angles, so that experienced MOCers can have a go at building their own, should they wish to do so. The Imperial Assault Carrier is a lot easier to disassemble and is not as complex as the GHOST, so it'd be easier to make some photographs of the individual segments that make up the build. Thanks! I'm glad you like them. As a matter of fact, although I claimed they both were finished, that does not mean that they can't be improved - something which I constantly do. Yesterday an idea occured to me of how to improve the GHOST's engines, which I did today, for example. You are quite right - the Imperial Assault Carrier is basically built as a house of plates, but it also involves SNOT techniques, apparently. I also like a few studs to define some lines. I plan to use more tiles and more plates with studs only along the edges, though, once I get the parts. Today we get to a new vehicle from the show. It's both a classic and a very unique vehicle. If you are a loyal, earnest and patriotic Imperal, you have to brace yourself and be very strong if you decide to open the spoiler below. It's against all regulations, but what can I say - I kinda like it!
  3. A cool little fleet - or task force - you have there. Are you only building imperial ships (as you username suggests ), or are you also planning on building some rebel ships?
  4. As for the quality of the models, I'd say the Tie Prototype and the AT-DP both beat the Ghost, although the Ghost is not without its charm if you like a chibi-like rendition of it. If you are into the Rebels, though, I'd go for the Ghost and Ezra's Speeder bike, because the minifigs are great, and look especially great together. The imperial minifigs are great, too, especially the Inquisitor and Agent Kallus.
  5. A miserably failed attempt at telling the unnecessary story of how Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader in the guise of a character study, written by a guy who does not know how to write a character in the first place. A series of three movies that document in detail how the makers of these movies have no clue as to what makes Star Wars good, and that Vader's redemption is what is interesting and touching, not how he became Darth Vader. A noteworthy showcase of how over-the-top-special-effects are used to compensate for lack of story focus and originality, and how cluttering the screen with cgi ultimately completely disconnects the viewer from what is happening on the screen. Ultimately, a perfect example for the facts that there is nothing special about special effects any more.
  6. Thank you all for the kind comments, and thanks to VK-318 for the suggestions regarding the interior of the Assault Carrier. I've finally had the time to tackle it and built a ready room with weapon lockers, a large cargo hold which can also double as a corridor, and a holding cell in the back. ***Updated opening post with this image.***
  7. There might be some slight inaccuracies, but who cares - the model is very beautiful, well executed and definitely an eyecatcher! I wonder if it is possible to actually build the face with an actual narrow slit for the mouth, though.
  8. A tragic scene, and I love the poses of the minifigs and the dramatic lighting! If I remember correctly, though, Jaina wore a black catsuit-like outfit in that fight, or was that just the book cover...?
  9. Since I could not find any Star Wars REBELS MOCs in the MOC index, neither mine nor those of other MOCers, and since the MOC index has no category for MOCs based on the Star Wars REBELS animated series, I decided to collect all of my vehicles here in this thread for easy reference and document them with nicely edited photographs. This obviously means that I will update this thread regularly, since I continually build MOCs based on the show - from tiny speeder bikes to large transports. The GHOST This MOC is finished at last. This final version has been improved by building the outer edges in SNOT, which results in straight edges that perfectly define the basic shape of the ship and a cleaner, smoother look. Also, the proportions have been improved by elongating the hull between the dorsal gun turret and the PHANTOM's docking station by two studs and making the main engines as well as the fin a bit longer, too. The model is built at roughly half-minifig-scale, but fits minifigs in the cockpit and at the battle stations and also sports some other interior and play features. The PHANTOM can also be detached from the GHOST and has room for a minifig in the cockpit and another minifig or up to two cargo containers in the passenger/cargo area. The model is 62 studs long, 44 studs wide and 21 studs high. ***Will be updated with more pictures.*** ____________________________________________________________ Imperial Assault Carrier (Gozanti Class Cruiser) This MOC is finished and also includes a quite roomy interior. as with all my builds, it is very sturdy and can be picked up easily at the wings. As of now, the model has a retractable landing gear, but it is a little bit flimsy for the weight of the model and needs reinforcing when deployed. The model is built at roughly half-minifig-scale and is in scale to the GHOST. The model is 81 studs long, 40 studs wide and 20 studs high. ***Will be updated with more pictures.*** ____________________________________________________________ ***Pictures of other, smaller completed MOCs will follow.*** Enjoy!
  10. I saw this before, but I'm a bit late to the party commenting this MOC. What can I say that hasn't been said before? This is crazy - but in the best possible way!
  11. LEGO is about the multiple possibilities you have with just two bricks - and the potential that comes with every brick you add to these. It's about constructing your dreams and creativity. Whoever sees LEGO as a collectible or an investment before anything else should better check if he has a warped perspective on the hobby. That being said, the right thing to do would be to release a new large Millenium Falcon.
  12. Half-minifig-scale does not mean that the models won't have an interior for minifigs. As with my GHOST, the Imperial Assault Carrier actually will have interior for minifigs - even more interior in relation to the size of the model as my GHOST MOC has. Edit: I have just finished the wings and the underside, as well as the hyperdrive engine. Now I need to build the turrets, and then I'll move on to the interior. It's very likely that I will be finished tomorrow.
  13. Currently no, it cannot carry TIEs. There are two points on each wing at which a TIE can be attached with the model from the show. Problem is that the frontal attachment point is located on a sloped element. I'm using a large flat sloped LEGO element for this area (The one also used on the UCS X-Wing, or on the wing elements of the Republic Gunship), because it has both the correct size and angle. It's smooth, though, so there's no way to put the attachment point on there other than Kragle, which is a no-no! The second attachment point is located behind the landing gear on a non-sloped area in the original model. Since I use plates with studs facing down here, it's easy to put this attachment point on each wing - it'd be a bit of a compromise. The TIEs would need to be roughly half-minifig-scale, though.
  14. It's been a while since I last posted a new MOC, and this thread is more of a teaser or first look at my work-in-progress. Yes, I'm building an adversary for my GHOST from Star Wars Rebels - the Imperial Assault Carrier which was also played an important role in the show's excellent first season finale. I spent some hobby hours last week sketch-building and coming up with a sturdy framework for this beast. Once I was happy with the proportions and the sketch build proved to be sturdy and durable, I started building the model in earnest this friday. This ship is in scale to my GHOST, which is roughly half-minifig scale at 60 studs. The Imperial Assault Carrier is 80 studs long. There's a lot of room in the main body and the bridge section to fit a lot of interior, which I will tackle once the hull is done. What you can't see in these first two WIP pics is the underside, which is also as good as finished and also sports retractable landing gear! So, here are the first two teaser pics I wanted to share with you, since I'm quite excited to get this thing finished now that all problems have been solved. The darn thing is too big to fit into my light tent, so I will have to come up with another method to get nice even lighting when I will take pictures of the finished model. My GHOST has also been improved further - new pics are to follow in the respective MOC thread, soon. Of course, once the Imperial Assault Carrier is finished, I will also take some pictures with both the Carrier and the GHOST side-by-side.
  15. Oh, I see. Wait - I'm a Sith Lord, too. But I'm the silly one who thought about getting a second shed... Anyways... I'm pretty excited about the possibility of getting an Ahsoka with a non-Clone Wars face print!
  16. Really? Just because you don't like it you HOPE no one of those who DO like it never get a chance to buy it? That's pretty mean! I actually hope that LEGO will take a shot at that TIE, because with those black and white checkerboard-patterns, it reminded me a bit of some P51 Mustang fighterplanes from WW2. Also, Sabine spraypainting stuff is not ridiculous, it's actually pretty cool and has been done by fighter pilots in real history, so why not? Imperial grey is an irresistable invitation for colourful vandalism.
  17. I don't think the fact that Darth Vader will make an appearance in Rebels is a spoiler at all - it is to be expected and it would be shame if the writers of the show would miss the opportunity. It's as much a spoiler as the fact that the Millenium Falcon will make an appearance in Episode 7 - SPOILERS!
  18. We all know that LEGO will continue releasing new prints for minifigs like Stormtroopers. They know that there are minifig collectors, and that there is a market for minifigs as collectible items. Also, kids won't mind changes as much as AFOLS do. When EP7 hits the theatres, we will get just another stormtrooper variant, and later new variants of that variant. EDIT @ markus1984 - Do not misinterpret my words. You are entitled to your opinion, and I also always prefer OT-stuff to other Star Wars media myself. I was just saying that I do not have issues with the Rebels design, and I even prefer the LEGO-version of the Rebels design to the LEGO-version of the OT-design.
  19. The LEGO-version OT Stormtrooper vs. Rebels Stormtrooper-debate appears to be quite religious. I'm not a religious guy, not even by a long shot, and I personally have no issues with the new Rebels design. As a LEGO print design, I actually prefer them to the OT versions, who look like they are grinning awkwardly. The Rebels-version frownie-face looks more menacing to me. Each to his own - I'm just glad we can get lots of these for a few bucks with the current battlepack. I feel sorry for those who can only live with the OT-versions, though.
  20. This is an impressive model, curved and sexy! I always associate straight edges and interesting angles and less curves with Star Wars spaceships, but this one being from an older era makes all the curves work. It has an elegant, nostalgic feel to it, which is just right. I also like the round, almost circular shape of the engine blocks with some allusions to technology there, which makes them look like there's some particle-accellerator-thing going on. Last but not least, I'm impressed how you managed to give the model a stable frame and leave room enough for extensive interior - something I've never managed with my GHOST. Great stuff!
  21. Some great building ideas for the cockpit here! I'd like to try my hand at this, but make the main body longer and build it as an Imperial Landing Craft as seen in Star Wars Rebels to go with my spare Inquisitor and some Rebels Stormtroopers. Thanks for sharing, and keep it coming!
  22. Well done, Martini26. And you are perfectly right: This bird looks so much better with the wings deployed.
  23. Thanks, GuyDudeMan27, for the effort with the .lfx file and the parts list - that's much appreciated. Maybe this gives you an indication:
  24. Your MOC blows every other Lego-incarnation of the X-Wing out of the water! What else can I say. Building instructions?
  25. Great work. I'm glad your kids like it. Oh, and I just noticed: The 2x4 angled plates at the rear of the cockpit need to be reversed.
