Thanks! It is quite sturdy (which I always go for). You can grab it by the head without fear of plates giving in, unless you apply force. The legs do give in a bit at the joints, which is usual for the click-hinges used there, but the model won't collapse. I advise to use new click-hinge plate joints there, because they are more stiff than older ones you might have used often. Thanks. I'm glad you like to build one of your own. I don't do LDD or LDD-based instructions, but I'll disassemble it into comprehensible sections and post pictures of these so that you get an idea of how it is built. I'll do that during the easter holidays.

Here's the AT ST I've build over the last week end to accompany my AT AT and the rest of my Imperial Hoth Attack Force. It fits a driver and is as high as 1 1/2 of the length of one of my AT AT's legs. The head can be rotated, of course, and the legs can be moved at 3 joints each to some extend. I will propably re-design the feet. I hope you like it.

After getting the a bit overprized 75014 Battle of Hoth set at 20% off from TrU the day before, I decided to build my own version of the Imperial Probe Droid in Minifig-scale and have a try at getting it closer to the shapes of the one we've seen in the movie at this scale. Here's my result. I hope you like it. Also, this is just another of a few builds I've done over the past two weeks, like the scout bike, a heavily modified AT AT (almost done with it) and an AT ST, which I will reveal soon - all part of the Imperial Hoth Attack force I'm currently building and planning on keeping assembled.

Thanks! It is the size of the 8129 set. It measures 41 studs in height and about 40 studs in length. It actually can go down in its knees. From the info I read about the AT AT, however, I personally prefer the idea that as it walks towards the enemy lines, pylons extend from the open main hatches from which troopers descend on cables for quick deployment. Hmmm... it could actually be possible to attach a rope-holding rig to the inside of the upwards-opening hatch to represent this.

Imperial Scout Bike MOC
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to DarthTwoShedsJackson's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Be my guest. This should help you build one of your own : The parts should all be easy to identify. I don't know from which set the 3 stud long black lightsaber blade is which connects the front and back section of the bike, functions as the joint at which the bike can be folded up, and to which the handlebars are attached. I never cut (or paint, or glue) pieces, so I double-checked it because I wasn't sure if it could be a faulty part, but there are moldlines visible on each end, so it must be an official part.- 15 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If you are a VIP member, you can win the ultimate Star Wars collection (all the sets depicted on the image, I guess). You need to make a purchase between 28th of April and 4th of May, though. -
This little build is part of my current AT AT project. I wanted to build a scout bike that fits into the troop compartment of my AT AT MOC which is based on the 8129 AT AT set. Not only should it fit into the compartment, but I also wanted to have some space remaining for some troopers on the tray which inserts into the troop compartment while the bike is on it. On top of that, I naturally wanted the bike to sport the shapes and proportions we know from Return of the Jedi as much as possible considering the size (or lack of size) of the build. So, this turned out to be another teeny-weeny build, but I'm very pleased with the result and therefore like to share this here and read your comments and suggestions. Here's two images of the bike: The bike is very sturdy and folds up in the middle, so that it fits on the tray. As you can see, it leaves a 2-stud-wide edge on the tray where 4 troopers can be comfortably placed: I'm currently also improving on the AT AT and will post new and more detailed photos in the relevant thread.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If something is considered canon (or a higher or lower level of canon - oh my!) or not is generally a fuzzy matter for wussies of the nth degree. What does it matter? It exists, so there's a good chance Lego will make sets. Be calm, patient... and trust the Force. I never get tired of pointing out that Star Wars is not history, it's not even a straight-forward story, it's more of a saga, a legend, a morality play, and in such things inconsistencies are no big deal, but bound to happen or sometimes even necessary. How, for instance, could the prequels be 'canon' (oh boy, what a religious term), if old Ben told Luke in 'A New Hope' that Darth Vader has been seduced by the dark side, if in fact the prequel movies tell a story of Vader being tricked (!!! not seduced - and the two are entirely different) by the dark side. That's pretty non-canon from an OT point-of-view, if you ask me. Now that George Lucas is out of the picture (no pun intended), I'm quite sure things will make a bit more sense from now on, considering that the prequels are pretty much evidence piled upon evidence that Lucas did not grasp what made Star Wars so captivating and timeless. -
Thanks for the kind comments! The head interior looks almost exactly like the 8129. However, I plan to modify it so that two pilots and maybe even an officer behind those two can be crammed into it. It's possible, somehow, I'm pretty sure. I'll post some more pics later this week when I got my camera back.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Pictures and Rumors
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm looking forward to the Ghost, since it's reminiscent of the classic Star Wars style of design. I've watched the Brick Show NYTF preview, and yes, the model is small-ish. I get it that system scale models are usually scaled down, but this one could've been a bit bigger. I guess it has a sturdy internal structure which allows for and supports all those peculiar angles. I'll get this one for sure, but mainly for the minifigs, because I've already a bigger one in the works which allows for some interior. -
After looking at the pictures of the upcoming 2014 Lego incarnation of the AT AT, I realized that it is a slightly modified version of the old 8129 set, which I unfortunately missed because of dark ages. So, in order to save me some money for my Lego purchases this summer, I decided to build my own Imperial Walker based on the frame of the 8129 set. I reinforced the connection of the front and back part of the main body, altered the proportions of the front section of the main body (which narrows down to 4 studs on the front end instead of just 2 studs wide), cleaned up the plating and re-textured it by adding smooth tiles onto studded areas to represent the escape hatches, for example. I also re-designed the hinge-based opening mechanism of the main hatches in order to better integrate the hinge pieces into the hull plating. I also closed lots of gaps. The head received all the detail it needs at this scale (and which the official versions lack), and I tried to re-create the shapes and textures, especially at the sides of the head, as accurately as I could with my parts selection. Last but not least, I basically built the legs from scratch after I saw the result I got building the legs as per the instructions. The technic joints are now embedded tightly into a snot-structure which allowed me to mirror the plating which makes up the outer and inner faces of the legs. So I figured I might call this a moc, because everything is modified and some huge and essential sections are built completely from scratch. I dunno, maybe it's still a mod - you decide.

I hope the next Lego UCS set will be a fully functionable lightsaber with a never before made new crystal brick. But seriously, a Nebulon B would be cool. -
Cool idea, and I'm looking forward to see this completed. Do not forget the retractable lightsaber-armed propeller of death on this pod racer!

I also like the result. Can you make a picture of the model from a bit greater distance, to get a better impression of the modified proportions?

What are your Lego Star Wars collecting habits?
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to Something_Awesome's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm back into Lego and Lego Star Wars in particular for a bit more than a year now. I've experimented with buying sets that look interesting, re-creating stellar mocs of other AFOLs like Psiaki's X-Wing, and creating a few mocs myself, mostly small to tiny ones. What it boiled down to now is me prefering to buy and build sets that look interesting and have adult-fan-value for me, if that's a word. Since I always modify and improve official lego builds, that's fine with me and the time I have for hobbies. I'm currently building the 8129 AT AT with bricks from my already huge collection, (waiting for a few special parts I had to order like the leg joints), and have modified it significantly already to get the proportions and detail right and close the gaps (I'll post it when I'm done). So, in the end, it's about parts, Minifigs, and OT-stuff for me. I'm looking forward to the summer wave and have already cast an eye on the REBELS sets. Also, I've come to prefer large models, since they're so ey-catchy . -

DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
With Disney's new movie trilogy and the focus shifting away from prequel trilogy and EU towards stuff from the original trilogy, I'd say it's not a bad bet that we'll get a new UCS-style iteration of one of the most iconic Star Wars spacecraft - the Millenium Falcon - in the not so near future. And if not, I'll take Mickey Mouse hostage. -
Baron Sat's Lego Death Star Playset
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to ISDAvenger's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That's what you say. It's a great model, it has so many elements to re-create iconic scenes, and the design and size is well-done. So I might be tempted... Hat's off to baron who originally designed it! -

DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to ISDAvenger's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, have fun with that - it's a mine-field . I tell you this: It's very questionable if you can even demand money for instructions you created yourself without explicit permission of LEGO. Aside from the legal issue that you create a product, i.e. an instruction, using the Lego brand name and basing it on the essential elements of Lego - the bricks and whole Lego-concept - it's a bit strange and silly: On one hand people claim Lego and MOCs and everything about the hobby is about fun, but on the other hand people demand money for self-made instructions. So it's about money, no matter how little, not about the fun? This is confusing at best, and disturbing at the worst. -
Baron Sat's Lego Death Star Playset
DarthTwoShedsJackson replied to ISDAvenger's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Truth be told, the legal argument here is rather academic. I even doubt if it is 100% legal to sell your own instructions for non-official lego sets, because you demand money for the intellectual property of another party (Lego, the Lego System) without explicit permission. Lego might turn a blind eye on it, but if they wanted you to stop selling instructions for non-official sets, they could enforce this with the weight of the law backing them. It's great that they don't do this, which is not common for strong brand names. Baron, you can't claim copyright unless you really have one. That being said, you also can't force someone else to sell the bricks used for your custom set. What it boils down to is being respectful and humble, i.e. acknowledging the original creator of the set, which is awesome, btw! Last but not least, I personally always find it a bit strange when people sell instructions and stuff like that. I'm coming from the pc-gaming mod scene, and it's common there that you can use stuff created by others for free if credit is given and you ask politely beforehand. No one demands money, especially because the elements your work is based on belong to another party. The same goes for Lego. -
Welcom to Eurobricks! The best thing to kick off a thread like this is to post some pictures of your own modifications.

Thanks, guys. I'm glad you like it. The legs are sturdy - they don't wobble or bend easily.
