Architecture Contest: VAB (Vertical Assembly Building)

Hi Si-MOC, I did look at a small scale shuttle, except I couldn't get the fuel tanks/booster rockets into a 2 brick wide format (to fit through the door) . The shuttle on its own - no problem...Its, like 2.5 bricks wide was the smallest I could get to still resemble the shuttle stack. Thanks for the kind words. -

I like the tailgate I would lower the body a bit to make the wheel/arches look closer. I also like the clear headlight , that has sold me I'm still not sure on the yellow though but it is closer than the lime...
-
I get where you're coming from and I agree the lime doesn't quite match the fluorescent yellow, but to my eye the Lego Yellow & Black make it more like a wasp/bee which doesn't look right either, now if we could only mix them together.... I would build it in yellow for comparison purposes, but the Slope 65 2 x 1 x 2(at the rear of the car) doesn't come in yellow...

Thanks for all the comments, I can't take all the praise, as my inspiration came from the range rover model in the Horsebox Set 7635. Whoever at TLG designed that did all the hard work... All I did was a little cosmetics, lower the suspension and give it a lick of paint.... Hi MetroiD, I know what you mean about the headlights, although the reasoning behind the yellow is it gives the impression they are on. As for the lighting bar, the orange 1x2s would look to flimsy and loose.. How about the 1x6 in white, any better....? Hi Rog, I dont think that Lego yellow is the right colour either as it seems to be the best for construction vehicles, the lime is the closest I could think of... Here's a little colour comparison between the Lime / Colour & Yellow / Colour. Police Fire Paramedics / Ambulance Highways Agency Traffic Officers cheers CB

Architecture Contest: VAB (Vertical Assembly Building)

Thanks, I'm glad you like it... When I first came up with the idea, it was the flag & meatball that were the first things I had a go at - as they are only decorative, they are very much part of the building. When I was Googling reference images, especially the back, it was funny to see the VAB with just the flag on it or the other logo they used to have, it didn't seem quite right... -

Thanks Pie I went to the KSC in May 2008 and as there isn't any other structure near it, you don't get the sense of how big it is... Apparently, each stripe in the flag is wide enough for a bus... -

I remember seeing a very large VAB at Billund, very impressive... The flag was the easist bit, it was the Nasa Meatball which was the problem, being circular Thanks, I wasn't intentionally going SNOT, its just the building is perfect for it... I know, some great work there It sounds daft, but I have my fav's I want to see win...... -

Thanks, much appreciated -
exactly Trent. I live in East Northamptonshire and although the Milton Keynes store is closer, the PAB wall is smaller. I got the advance saver ticket (approx £10) day return to London and spent a good hour at the wall... As it was the 31/03/12 (the last date for the holiday boxes) it was a little busy - Plus the staff were great, showing the others how to maximise the packing...

Well the steam roller should flatten Gambon pretty well and the Tauntaun would take the hammerhead, due to its superior handling qualities... I don't think he'd do well in the 'copter - James May probably gave him flying lessons...
