Time to went :) We have some active members (like DLuders) in Eurobricks who find awesome creations not already on EB and post threads with them because the creations are simply too awesome to not get noticed here. This is all good, and I would love this to continue, and I especially the rare occasions where the creators chime in. But. When you see such a thread, then please don't answer it as if the finder is the creator. Stop saying stuff like "Wow. You totally rock, dude!", because then the finder has to say that they didn't build it, even though this information is already apparent in both the title of the thread and often the text in the thread as well! If the actual creator has answered the thread, then it's fair game. I'm not going to give examples here. If you are curious, you can PM me.

6 wide DS's that actually look very much like real DS's. Now that is an amazing feat. I really love your heavy use of "ninja tricks", especially above the rear wheels on the yellow one. It took me some time to figure out how you could make the rear wheel well without cheating.

Thanks for the pictures Copmike. Take a look at the roofs of the palace: Usually when you build this kind of model, you render the model on a computer and then let the computer tell you where to put the bricks. It seems like they have used very few polygons when building the roofs of the palace. You can clearly see large flat areas (polygons), while the "real" palace has nicely rounded roofs. Compare it to this building: Here you can see a nicely rounded small roof, while the larger roof only has very small polygons, which you can barely see. Has LEGOLAND been slacking off with the SW display? The interior of the MF cockpit isn't built and there are some large cracks where some building are put together.

However, seeing the OP truck as what you can get out of simple building techniques and with a limited parts selection, I would say it's a very fine result. It's very clearly a Magnum, and the square look makes it look like the old version. Props for that. Of course you can 'SNOT it up' and use all kinds of crazy building techniques to get a realistic magnum - just see my Magnum with the octan trailer, where I tried to build the new Magnum instead of the blocky old version. But then you are compromising stability, interior space and time.

Cheers guys. I have 2 other trucks that still have not been posted. But I will wait until a little project has been completed first. Meanwhile, I will update the big coke truck and get started on my flagship truck. (Been planned for 3 years now) But there is also the race truck...
-
Thanks guys. The original truck is not modelled after a particular truck, but mostly inspired by the Freightliners in the Coca Cola commercials. I will probably find a real truck for the next iteration. I want to change the pictures with the santas and see if I can save some weight. The batteries are drained quite quickly by the 5kg load.

Last year I built this Renault Magnum with Octan trailer as a motorized Model Team model in scale 1:25. This is a scale 1:2 model of that truck. Usually when you build a Renault Magnums, you will choose the old version which is more square and well suited for LEGO. This is an attempt at the new one with non-rectilinear lines everywhere. Here it is at Klodsfest 2011. Brickshelf gallery with more pictures.

Thanks, and I already did a microscale. Evil tongues claim it's just a 1x2 tile, but I simply think they need more creativity.

Remember back in 2008 when I presented this? If not, then that underline is a link. Now it's here in scale 1:2, that is, System scale. The original had power functions with 3 receivers, 8 functions in the trailer, 2 XL motors in the truck... This model has none of that :-P Although those 1x1 round plates are light in the dark. I did go the easy way with the santas, though. Here it is at Klodsfest 2011. Brickshelf gallery with more pictures.

Yep. Like all my MOCs, this one is full of 1 stud connections, strained bricks and the like, so that rear end will fall off as soon as you lie an eye on it Very funny guys

This is a scale 1:2 model of my Model Team Cement Truck which itself is a 1:25 model of a MAN TGS 8x4. Most of the details remain, but I did not manage to include power functions this time around. It does, however, dispense GBC balls :) The Model Team truck was originally meant to be a 2:1 version of 7990, but ended up being a scale model instead. Here it is among my other Mini Model Team trucks at Klodsfest 2011. Brickshelf gallery with more pictures.

I was wrong about the size. It is pretty close to the one I built size wise. It hints more at stability concerns than of a playset. I tried to make the angled bottom strong in order to support the frame. This worked, but the added weight made it very hard to connect to the upper half. A flat bottom should be much lighter. I wonder how they have fixed the problem that will occur at the engine bay. Perhaps I should use this as a hint and start making the 1:1 model? That is. 1:1 compared to the original model, not the depicted ship... which would use some trillion bricks.

Finally! 8 years after I modded the 10030 into the first SSD-prototypes, LEGO gives us what I had been looking forward to. First impression: Positive things: - It is significantly smaller than mine, so kudos to LEGO for adding so many details at a relatively small scale. - 2 legs is a must for this set and hints at a slim frame, which again hints a very realistic depiction. - No obvious bridge, which means they didn't oversize it. Yay! - New bricks allow for a smooth front (unlike my zig-zag'ing) - Lots of large plates with less studs. Ideally I would like it to be stud-free on the flanks, but this is good too. - The upper wings consist of single planes, which is true to the original. - The city looks well greebled, and it's impossible to redo the original which was more than 2 meters long (and made of smaller pieces than LEGO bricks) Negative: - The belly. It seems like it's flat, judging from the flat front. - The sides are a bit high. Even my 1 brick high sides is a bit on the tall side compared to the original. - With the big front leg, the city in the belly might be compromised :S - With the flat front, the engine bay might not be shaped correctly. - The sides don't get wider towards the rear of the ship. There should still be a slight wedge along the city. Will I buy one? Of course!

Brazil Builds Worlds Tallest Lego Tower
Lasse D replied to Dazmundo's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's some folks at LEGO who run this ans make sure that every new tower is just a bit larger than the last one in order to ensure a new world record every time. It's a nice project which always gathers a lot of people. -
That link gives us a nice splitting on colors: White (24) Red (83) Yellow (49) Blue (42) Light Violet (2) Dark Pink (5) Pink (13) Trans-Clear (60) Trans-Dark Pink (16) Anyone up for looking through all sets with Pink mugs? If you find that it is a coffee machine, then I will add it to the list.

That is quite an impressive water cannon for a LEGO truck. The only problem with such a huge scale (apart from running out of bricks) is the speed. What you have shown so far looks great. Now you have the hardest part in front of you: the rounded cockpit. When I did my Rosenbauer (also with working water canon, yay!) I simply built an older and more angled Titan, which was much easier :) So good luck! PS. Need a free video converter that doesn't watermark? The just ask.

Wow. They keep popping up. Perhaps one should just take a look at all sets with mugs. How many of those are there?
-
The problem with minifig scale is that it isn't in "scale". You can say minifig scale is 1:37.5, 1:40 or 1:45, but a minifig is a caricature of a human and will thus never fit into a vehicle built to scale. 6 wide trucks simply look correct next to 4 wide cars and 5 wide vans.
-
Paradisa is minifig scale. The list isn't complete yet.

Soda machines and so on must be for another thread. I think we already have those sets that you mention. I can make an entry for Idea books if you can find it. I seem to recall a coffee machine in a hospital of another idea book, but I'm not sure. > Rook. See links in OP for examples.

Great. Thanks for the inputs guys. List updated with links. Now. No earlier than 1979?

Thanks jonwil. I have updated the list. I can confirm that the Marina has a coffee machine. We already have 7 sets with coffee machines in just the last couple of years!
