What Ever Happened to the Train Engine Shed?
kyphur replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
They did that with the UCS Imperial Star Destroyer also. I have old gray but would prefer bley, alas I can't fix that now can I? -
On eBay they were running in excess of $70 each! That's why I grabbed every one I could on BrickLink at $50.
-
Yes, they are discontinued... That's why I got them while the getting was good...

Actually that 13 by 7 32 x 32 baseplates just for the town proper! Here's the layout: The two gray baseplates in the lower right are where the train station will be (actually they're the parking lot for the station. Just north of that will be the Municipal hall with a park in front (the two green baseplates). To the west will be a municipal parking lot with a mini Starbucks at the southern end. The 2 green baseplates to the west of that will be the Hospital/Fire/Police buildings. The square roadway (split both ways) to the west of that is the residential area. I will have houses (Creator Series & MOCs) along the outside edge as well as in the 4 center green baseplates. This area will also get a Commuter Train platform. A restaurant will go on the green baseplate to the north of the Hospital/Fire/Police buildings. I will build-up a Main Street area along the roadway around the municipal hall/park to the north & east. The commuter train tracks will loop around the town (but not hug it too closely) connecting the Main station to the residential platform and at least 1 rural platform. My residents can take the train to work/shopping! There will be a freight yard beside the train yard. Eventually I want it to include a small port so there will be 3 loaning/unloading areas: Trucks, Trains, Ships. I found a Canadian seller on Bricklink who had a total of 6 @ $50 each, cleaned him out and ordered another one from Germany @ $50. I figured they aren't going to get cheaper so I grabbed all I could get.

The town street plan is 11ft by 6ft! I have enough room in the basement to comfortably accomidate a 20ft by 20 ft layout with room to grow. I will have a commuter station downtown and 2 or 3 platforms on the loop. There well be level crossings where needed. Eventually I want a mountian with a tunnel and a line on a thin ledge outside. I will also build a train yard on the edge of town. Of course there's a lot to do to get there including spending a small fortune on baseplates.

Adding more track.... I like the Double Rail Crossing and have 5 more ordered. I also need to get a lot of the switches so I can build my rail yard. I just need to get the rest of the SW stuff sold or traded so I have room (and $) to build my layout. I have designed the street plan for a small town to be at the center of my layout, I'll post pics later.

I guess that would be after they finally released me from the loony bin from years of staring at that unopened box! Nope, don't see the point of sitting on it if you have the room to build, display & enjoy it. My Falcon has brought me a lot of enjoyment sitting in the living room and later the LEGO room fully assembled just waiting for me to touch it.

BrickLink is a good reference for prices on new & used LEGO Sets Here is the 7190 Falcon: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=7190-1 In the last 6 months it's averaged about $145 & the current average asking price is $190. That's why I've set the price for mine at $170 and am negotiable on that (within reason). Of course you need to make adjustments based on the actual condition of the set. For trades I compare Original MSRP averaged with the figure I get from above method then I adjust accordingly based on things like part count to determine how even sided the trade is. This is the method I've used for pricing out my entire collection.

Ha ha, I think we're getting real close to having a trade ironed-out... I hope I'm not too difficult to deal with...

Over 200 Lego Star Wars Sets plus lots of Minifigs
kyphur replied to kyphur's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I just want to thank my fellow EBers who have been in contact with me regarding these sets (regardless of if we were able to make a deal or not), it's been fun seeing how others view & feel about some of these sets. I've decided to do a raffle for everyone who deals with me, this includes outright sales & trades. Here are the raffle prizes: So far I've had 9 deals (Sales/Trades) that have moved 22 Star Wars Sets from my house. Starting Tomorrow I will do a random raffle selection each Friday for the next eleven Fridays. My daughter will pick a numbered piece out of a bag that will select one of the 11 prizes. Then my wife will pick a piece with the name of someone who has Purchased/Traded with me up to that date. The Person wins the Prize, I pay for shipping. Here's how you enter: Either Trade with me or Purchase something from me. For each $50 (or portion thereof over $20) in value of the transaction you get 1 raffle entry. Examples: --> Purchase $20 - $69 = 1 entry, Purchase $70 - 119 = 2 entries, etc. --> Trade $20 - $69 = 1 entry, Purchase $70 - 119 = 2 entries, etc. How is Transaction Value determined? For purchases it's the amount paid not including shipping & paypal fees. For trades it's the amount I value the sets you get from me for the purpose of the trade. For example if I say Set 10199 is valued at $145 and you traded me for it then your transaction value is $145 which gets you 3 entries. Entries are only removed from the pool when they win. This means everyone who has already completed a transaction before the drawing tomorrow will be entered not only in tomorrow's drawing but also in all future drawings unless they win. Winning only eliminates the entry that won, not the person. If you have 5 entries you can possibly win 5 prizes. As of right now there are a total of 51 entries for the first Prize Raffle tomorrow. Good Luck everyone, Raffle Results will be posted in the thread each Friday. No real names will be posted, Just website/Username (as I have this posted in more than 1 place). -
I found that putting a 1 x 4 Brick & 1 x 4 plate behind the IR receiver give a good connection point for this mechanism and makes it work better (IMHO).

Have POTC 4192, Indian Jones 7198, $$$
kyphur replied to anti-hero's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Check out my thread... I have the Y-Wing you want & at least 10 Snowtroopers even though I didn't list the loose MiniFigs. I'm not interested in any of the sets you're offering but I would take $3 per snowtrooper and the price I'm asking for the Y-Wing can be found in my thread. -

I updated the Original Post with a link to a Google Spreadsheet listing all prices. -
A few original pieces aren't used when the service pack is applied to the set.

Over 200 Lego Star Wars Sets plus lots of Minifigs
kyphur replied to kyphur's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
From my OP: "Condition of all sets is: Open, Complete, No Box, Has been assembled & displayed in an AFOL's collection (non-smoker, no pets, never in direct sunlight). Most have sticker sets not applied (a few have the stickers applied) and all except the Darth Maul Bust include the original instruction manual." There may be some exceptions to this. When packing your selection if I notice anything not to at least the above listed standard I will notify you so we can make necessary adjustments. For example, while packing-up for another user I noticed that I was missing the manual which goes for $2 on Bricklink so I adjusted the set price by $3. -
