Looks good, just one question: Why not move the IR Receiver back 2 studs to fully enclose it in the 4-wide bulge?
-
My mistake, you're right. I was thinking of the roof opening for it...
-
Someone found it, RailBricks Issue #7... I've skimmed the article and it requires modification of the 9v train Motor which isn't an option is my opinion. Now if someone could take that article and redesign the solution to only require you connect to an unmodified 9v Train Motor then I would be happy with that.
-
Or you could use this. I know you'll get less run time but it will still work. Since it has a 2 x 4 footprint, mount it sideways, then use this part to allow room for the wires. Agreed!!!
-
I didn't even mention the polarity issue of the 9v system, that's going to be a constant issue with it. Um, yeah used 9v Train Motors are two or three times the price of a new PF Train Motor. Agreed, I wasn't saying which was better just that it's one of the reasons why someone might want to tackle the issue. Really? I would love to see that article. I assume that one would have to be using the Rechargeable Battery Boxes (of course). Honestly that would help to justify the expense if I could just hide a stretch of 9v or ME-Models Rail on a long straight away and keep my batteries charging while running that would be great. Some of the trains are easier to remove the battery box for swap-out but the Maersk has to be partially disassembled and I hate that.
-
I agree wholeheartedly on all points.
-
Actually I can see two practical applications for this: First would be to remove the IR Receiver and use PF Train Motors in place of the 9v Motors controlling speed with the 9v Speed Controller.. Second is the ability to run multiple engines on powered track independently using the PF IR Receivers as speed controllers.
-
I've been thinking on that one... When I'm ready I think I'll follow how they did the Maersk, hollow engine compartment for the battery with panels/plates on edge to cover the sides. Then make stickers for the stripes.

For me it's the Chief all the way... 1) The snub nose is what I think of when Diesel Trains are the topic. 2) Ease to power, with a 9v system just add the 9v Train Motor. With PF just pull out the engine and slightly Mod the roof then you have enough room for the receiver & battery box. 3) The paint is just so classic and give the feeling of "I'm going somewhere". 4) Hard to pin-point it but the Chief definitely had whatever "it" is. The Chief is on my list of "Targets of Opportunity" to get a second copy, I won't pay top dollar for it but if the price/deal/trade is right I won't pass up the chance to get another one. He is also the first train I'm going 8-wide with.

Over 200 Lego Star Wars Sets plus lots of Minifigs
kyphur replied to kyphur's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I don't have any complete sets but I do have many Pirate MiniFigs, and some Ship parts such as cannon, masts, rigging & sails. If you're interested please provide more info on what you have (exactly what set is the old steam engine, pics of the track etc) and I'll dig up all of the Pirate pieces I have. Maybe provide an e-mail addy so we can discuss a trade. -
I just completed a deal that will add all of this to my Trains Inventory: 10001-1 Metroliner (Missing MiniFigs, Accessories & Platform) 4511-1 High Speed Train (Missing MiniFigs, Accessories & Platform) 10157-1 High Speed Train Car (Missing MiniFigs & Accessories) 10170-1 TXX Intermodal Double-stack Car RC Switch Set (1 ea left & right) RC Curve Track (x35) RC Straight Track (X14) 4548-1 Transformer and Speed Regulator Both trains will get converted to PF. Metroliner will get a PF Train Motor since it's boogies and under-carriage hardware are black it will blend in fine. The High Speed Train will get the same treatment I gave my Santa Fe Super Chief. I'll hold on to the Metroliner's 9v train motor, it may be used to convert my BNSF Engine in the same manner as the Super Chief & High Speed Train. As I'm buying parts on BL I'll pick-up the 16 missing MiniFigs and parts to build the two platforms.

And the fourth Raffle Prize is..... 30005 Stormtrooper on Speeder Bike! Drum Roll Please..... ... ... This week's Raffle Winner is..... EuroBricks User EdBrick! Congratulations. -
No problems at all on the plastic track. I've run it over switches, double crossovers, joint Plastic & 9v Track, joint Plastic & ME-Models Track, joint 9v & Me-Models Track.

I used this cable to connect the 9v Train Motor to the PF IR Receiver. So that it matches I was able to use the decorative side pieces for the 9v Train Motor in Light Grey just like is shown in the instructions for the Super Chief Set except I added the above referenced cable.
-
Well, my 5 double crossovers arrived this week! I now have a total of 7 double crossovers... The amount of black on the powered wheels was bothering me ever since I PF'ed the SF Super Chief so last night I took a 9v train motor that I have, added the PF to 9v cable and replaced the PF motor. It looks much better now that it's grey where it should be grey!

I would say your link answered the question regarding what the first mystery set is: "We donβt stop here, however Following the PR electronics Lego lorry is a real scale Lego model of our new PR-9000 series transmitter for the process industry. This is not present in Legoland (yet), but is a Lego construction set that is only available as a PR electronics giveaway. Brick by brick you can put together the best of both worlds and discover the qualities of PR electronics and Lego by yourself." So this is something of limited avaliability. Estimating a value would be difficult if not impossible due to unknown factors such as quantity produced and also gauged interest in owning the set due to it's obscurity.

Over 200 Lego Star Wars Sets plus lots of Minifigs
kyphur replied to kyphur's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
June 1st, 2011 my prices will be increasing by 5% with the exception of the UCS Falcon (10179) which will increase by 3%. This is due to the added expense of selling my collection through BrickLink. Don't get me wrong, their fees are fair and I'm not making a statement about that. You see, this is my personal collection that I spent 6 years assembling (both in the sense of finding/purchasing and building) and I first listed the items for sale on 2 forums that I frequent (fbtb.net & eurobricks.com) so my initial pricing structure didn't include BrickLink Fees. I am removing the Google Documents Spreadsheet and BrickLink will become the only venue where what remains of my collection is listed. Until June 1st I will still sell directly to members of Eurobricks & Fbtb at the currently listed (discounted) prices as shown on BrickLink. See the first post for the link to my BrickLink Store which lists everything still available and my asking prices, EuroBricks Members see below for how to buy from me DO NOT USE BrickLink's Ordering System. The link is simply for access to my updated inventory & prices (as a reference). All Serious offers considered, PM me with offers. All offers will be considered in the order they are received. On June 1st, the prices increase by 5%. For EuroBricks Members PM me here with the sets you want, as soon as we have an agreed upon deal I will remove the item(s) from my BrickLink inventory. If a BrickLink member purchased an item before we've agreed on terms then they will get it. EuroBricks Members will get my items for 3% off the current asking price (as there will be no BrickLink Fees). I will offer the following volume discounts for those who purchase 3 or more sets in a single order: 3 Sets = 5%, 5 Sets = 10%, 8 Sets = 15%, 11 Sets = 20% My goal is (and has been from the start) to get these sets that I love & cherish into the hands of other collectors at a fair price. I have intentionally priced most of my sets to be the lowest priced COMPLETE set of it's kind on BrickLink and I think even after the increase that will be true for over 90% of my sets. -
Over 200 Lego Star Wars Sets plus lots of Minifigs
kyphur replied to kyphur's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
All of the sets have thier MiniFigs. Since I can still purchase 8293 for $30 that's what I'd be willing to give you in trade value for it but shipping to Australia is expensive so I wouldn't be willing to pay shipping on a deal that only included an even-up trade for that set. -
Actually $130 is much less than the going rate as I listed the next 2 sets prices on BrickLink, $149 without the box & Instructions and $173 without the box. Regarding the Toy Story stuff, it's showing up on clearance at Target here in the US so if I really wanted it I can get it for 25 - 50% of MSRP (depending on the set). If you happen to have 7994-1 LEGO City Harbor that's a set I'd Trade it for. I'm reasonable and willing to be flexible on my prices (within reason). PM me with how much you think you can swing for this set and maybe we can come to terms.
-
I have it just no box, otherwise complete. I'm looking for $130 (buyer pays shipping) which is currently much cheaper than the next one of BrickLink that is only missing the box ($149 missing box & instructions, $173 only missing box). If you have any Train Sets or a lot of Baseplates I'd take in trade also.

Over 200 Lego Star Wars Sets plus lots of Minifigs
kyphur replied to kyphur's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Replied via PM... Opps, couldn't reply via PM (new user restriction?)... I'm asking $215 for it which is currently the lowest price on BrickLink. That price does have a little room to move though. For Trade, I'm looking for trains. The first post of my thread lists my wants in order of desire. -

I'm planning to have facilities to handle cargo transer bewteen 3 transport mediums on my layout (Trucks, Trains & Ships). For the water I plan to use blue fabric attached to the tables edges with snaps or velcro so I can remove it for access to the scenery. I am designing a Cargo Ship that will be built from the waterline up on blue baseplates with a base dimension of 96 studs long and 24 studs wide (2 24 * 40 & 1 24 * 16 baseplate). The cargo hold will accomidate 6 Maersk (10219) sized containers with walk ways between them and be open deck for stacking. The aft section will be detachable and contain a stach of 3 sections: The bottom will be the Engine Room which runs from the waterline to the deck. Then the Crew quarters with sit on that and the Bridge will rest atop the stack. The bow of the ship is undetermined as of yet and may just be empty. Here are some WIP Pics:
