Here's my slight modification: You'll notice that I replaced the 1x2 plate with a 1x2 plate with door rail and placed 2 1x2 plates with 1 stud (jumper plates) where the MiniFig stands to center him.

I wouldn't say you've done anything wrong necessarily. Just like any other niche community I have found BL buyers (myself included) to be hard to predict. Some use the wanted list just to watch the "Ebb & Flow" of items they are interested in. Some are hard on the hunt but have a drop dead price they are willing to spend. Some simply have more wants than cash. At the end of the day just having the lowest price on an item won't guarantee you'll get the sale quickly. If it did then those last 10 SW sets in my store would have disappeared a long time ago!

I have a small stockpile of 9v inventory but never plan to run any 9v Trains (they're all getting PF conversion). 9volt Track ------------ 154 - Curve 178 - Straight 5 - Switch Left 5 - Switch Right 9volt Train Motors ------------------- 3 - Installed into trains but never run. 1 - Installed and run, light usage replaced with PF Train Motor. 3 - Side Decorative Piece for 9v Train Motor, Black, Set (as in 2 each) I also have a few Transformer and Speed Regulator Sets. I have pending discussions for: 58 - Straight, 16 - Curve, 3 - Switch, Left, 3 - Switch, Right and possibly the 9v Motors but nothing has been finalized yet. If someone asks for quantities that would effect availability of these two pending discussions I would give the person 24 hrs to finalize the deal or lose it to the new offer. For the track I'd like to trade 2 for 1 to increase my PF Track inventory (2 PF for 1 equivalent 9v Piece). If you have enough Flex Track I would be willing to work-out a Trade Ratio for Flex Track to 9v Curve & Straight pieces. I prefer to not deal for straights only so offers that include curves (yes we all have too much already) get preference over offers for straight only trades. For the 9v Train Motors I'd be willing to trade for a fair number of PF Switches per 9v Motor or alternatively 2 for 1 to get PF Train Motors but I need PF Switches more than I need PF Train Motors. For the Transformer and Speed Regulator Sets I'd prefer to trade for Flex Track. Shipping: we'd each pay to ship our parts to the other party, parcel post is okay but must include Delivery Confirmation. All offers/deals considered in the order they are received. If your offer meets my 2 for 1 on track and at least equal number of curves as straights will get agreed to immediately unless they impact the pending discussions (which would just cause a 24 hour delay unless the prior party finalizes the deal). PM me if interested...

Yep, that's the Turntable I have. I would like to eventually build a "real" Turntable but this one gives me something that I don't otherwise have for the time being. The 2 main improvements would be 360 degree rotation and longer table surface to accommodate Large Engines/Steamers with a tender.

Question about motorizing Maersk Train/Emerald Night
kyphur replied to adello25's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You are correct in your assumptions. You'd connect the forward PF Train Motor to the PF Switch and put the switch in reverse then connect the switch to the PF IR Receiver on top of the connector for the rear PF Train Motor. This reverses the forward motor and keep both motors' settings in sync. I'm using this exact method for my MOD Santa Fe Super Chief EMD-B Unit and TearLoch is using it for his MOC BNSF PF Conversion, just look for our threads on these to set the posted examples. -
I like it but had to make a couple of small adjustments on the drive gear to get it working smoother. I also bought an XL Grey baseplate to mount it on instead of using all of the small baseplates it came with. I actually have like 3 more of the motor it needs but don't know what to do with them! I'm thinking of modifying it to handle larger engines like the Maersk. Don't really care for the Emerald Night so not worried about it fitting (besides as a steam engine it would need it's tender also). So in short I don't regret the purchase but see where it can be improved. I really like the EOL Buffer I got at the same time and have made 10 more. I plan to use them at every EOL on my layout so I'll probably need to build several more. They work real good mounted on ME-Models 1/2 length Track pieces!

Since the turntable is only large enough for a Locomotive to be switched between tracks unless it's in the center position I'm planning to us it to direct the Locomotives to my Engine Shed (2 Left Tracks), an Engine Storage Yard (2 Right Tracks) and a small Freight Transfer Yard with Cargo Cranes (Center Track). I might move the Turntable to the other end of the tables so that I can put it behind a Wye which would allow access to the Switching Yard without accessing the Main line. I think that would require using a Double Crossover instead of a switch at the entrance from the main line. EDIT: Here's the Wye (or at least my first attempt at it):

Well I've been able to get 15 tables to fit in the space so I'll be buying #15 tonight! Here's a graphic showing how it fits in my basement: I've also started planning track using BlueBrick. Here is the beginning of my Switching Yard: Note the Grey 48x48 Baseplate is my motorized Turn Table. And here is the beginning of my Switching Yard in real track! C & C Welcome...

Question about motorizing Maersk Train/Emerald Night
kyphur replied to adello25's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Without the IR bits the train will run too fast unless you MOD it to gear it down. The LiPo (Rechargeable Battery Box) has a speed dial but I'm not sure if that would actually slow the XL Motor down when simply turned on and connected directly. I imagine it would as when I connect lights directly to a LiPo and turn the setting down it dims them. Of course the IR bits are a lot cheaper than a LiPo & Charger (even if you don't get TLG's charger). -
Question about motorizing Maersk Train/Emerald Night
kyphur replied to adello25's topic in LEGO Train Tech
All sets currently come with the AAA Battery Box. Yes you just need a XL Motor if you're using the PF stuff from a Red Passenger Train. -
I purchased the final 3 tables today on my lunch break! First project when I got home was to make sure they fit in the space... THEY DO!!! Now I'm trying to see if I might be able to squeeze a 15th table into the space!
-
Regarding all of the space, I negotiated to get exclusive rights to the basement and it was worth it. None of the rooms upstairs would have fit the table arrangement I've decided on. Here is the asymmetrical table arrangement: It will be angled in the space. Here is the final (I think) Perimeter Track Loop: The left side will contain the Town and the right side will contain the Train/Freight Yard. I have a feeling I'll use most of my 7 Double Crossovers as access points to the Perimeter Loop. 14 Table Layout Set of Flickr I already have 11 of the tables, should be picking up the final 3 within a few weeks so now is the time to get the space cleaned up and move the stuff that is around the walls.

I'm just waiting for the ultra rare green train windows to arrive so I can make a good photo set of all 3 versions of my Transfer Caboose and then the pictorial comic portion for my official entry. I'm also trying to get a third entry done in time, hint: it's a Cargo Crane that is sized to handle Maersk Containers. I just don't know if I'll have it ready in time

A single IR Controller (I assume your mean the part you hold in your hand) can control all 8 possibilities (red/blue channel on 4 frequencies). So in essence you only really need 1. If you want to run the train manually, you can remove the IR Receiver & controller then just connect the motor directly to the battery but only the LiPo Rechargeable battery has a speed setting so with the AAA Battery box it would run on full speed.

Yes, the dreaded & Hated Flexible Track. I'm offering up $0.20 (Twenty Cents) per segment and looking for Quantities of 128 or more pieces to make it worth paying for shipping. I do have a sizable stock of 9v track (Curves, Straights and both Left & Right Points) that I might be willing to trade if the deal is right. For outright purchases, I'll pay actual shipping. For trades we'd each pay our side of the shipping.

I don't have anywhere near the structures to fill the space but then that's the fun of it, right? How many trains? How about all of them? Seriously... The Town will have up to 3 lines running: Inter-City Commuter Line, Local Elevated Line, Freight Line. Then there will be the Cross-Country Line (Perimeter Line) so that's up to 4 regular lines running. In the Yard trains will move as needed to handle cargo and equipment transfers.

Do it sooner than later, they're now starting at $70 and the number available is dwindling also, there only a total of 8 up for sale on BrickLink!

Don't worry, I didn't take it as such, just figured I'd share how I came to the decision to lay it out as I did. Your ideas/thoughts were spot-on in fact and I believe that putting them out there can be very helpful to others who are in the planing stages as it's easy to get lost int he big picture and miss important details like accessibility.

Sok, Part of the problem is that the basement is more or less a rectangular space so in order to get as much table surface as possible in it I need to arrange the tables in a more or less rectangular layout. My final Table layout will be 15 tables in total arranged in 2 rows. The complete row will be 9 tables wide. In front of that will be 3 tables - gap of 3 tables - 3 tables. I'm 6ft 3 in tall so I have a pretty decent reach and will be able to easily access most of the table surface. In fact there will just be a small area that I will need to lean on the table to access. I might just get a gripper to help with that area. Also I figure the void will be a nice place to put a WIP Table and I can sit there to run my trains for relaxation being able to view the whole layout. So from above the layout will look like this ( [##] = a table): [##][##] [##][##] [##][##] [##] [##] [##] [##][##] [##][##] [##][##] This will give me an area 3 tables wide by 2 tables deep (88.5 x 144 in / 7.4 x 12 ft) each for my Train/Freight Yard and Town and the section in between will be 3 tables wide by 1 table deep (88.5 x 72 in / 7.4 ft x 6 ft) for miscellaneous scenery across the country side. I just might put my motorized turntable and some Train Sheds (including 10027) in that area if the Train Yard gets too crowded for it. I'm also hoping that once I've begun building my town I can add a small elevated railway. This project should keep me busy for a few years...

Official Eurobricks Straightshooters List
kyphur replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
And another +1 for Lobot [spelled his username correct this time]. I swear this guy knows someone at the Post Office, his shipments get here in record time! -
10 Banquet Tables (29.5 in x 72 in) Dimensions: * 17.2 ft (left in the pic) * 12 ft (top of pic) * 7.4 ft (top right of pic) * 6 ft (top right, lower horizontal edge) * 9.8 ft (mid - lower right of pic) * 6 ft (bottom of pic) Track used: * 112 Straight Track * 30 Curve Track * 10 Flex Track * 2 Point, Right The 2 Double Crossovers aren't connected at this time. They will eventually provide access between to "Local" Lines and the Perimeter Line which is meant to represent a Long Haul Line. I have already ordered enough green baseplates to run around the perimeter of the tables. Eventually I'll have the entire surface of the tables covered with baseplates. I'll eventually add 4 more tables so that its 8 x 2 tables with the incomplete row or tables having a gap of 2 tables in the middle. Then one set of 6 tables (3 x 2) will be my Train/Freight Yard and the other set of 6 tables (3 x 2) will be a small town with 2 local transit lines. The Perimeter Line will always represent my Cross Country "Long Haul" Line with a few switches to enter/exit the yard and one access point (double crossover) to get into the town's local transit lines. The Flickr Set

There are only two problems with the theory of getting it when you have 'nothing' else to get: 1) There will always be something else to get. I have doubles of every current train (except the Emerald Night) and my "to get" list is still huge. 2) The price will only go up with time. I stumbled on the opportunity to snatch-up seven of the double crossovers and while it cost more than I really wanted to spend at the time I'm glad I did even though I've yet to use all seven at once.

I have an extra each of: 7802 30005 30055 The rest have already been offered up to you...

Looks great.... Could I ask way you tiled the entire floor? I like mostly stud-less exteriors but prefer to have a floor that my MFs will snap on to so that they will stay in place as the train moves, starts, stops and corners...

Question about motorizing Maersk Train/Emerald Night
kyphur replied to adello25's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Something to remember with the AAA Battery Boxes is that you've still have to partially disassemble the Locomotives to change the batteries. For the 3677 Loco it isn't too much and since the Battery box pretty much just drops into the EN Tender again it's not that bad. I really had disassembling the Maersk Loco just to change batteries, that section is pretty fragile in construction already so it was my first LiPo (Rechargeable Battery) conversion. Some Locos like the Red Passenger Train are less hassle to fully remove the battery box and I don't know that I'll ever drop a LiPo in it but the Yellow Cargo train was another good choice for LiPo conversion. My MOD/MOC EMD-B Unit for the Santa Fe Super Chief is also rather easy to get the Box out of but I just seems right to LiPo my favorite train... I'm even thinking of re engineering the roof so that it's fixed over the battery box (like it is at the other end over the IR Receiver) with a roof-top push button to toggle power. If done right removing the power button will also allow access to the charging port of the LiPo. Since I've been slowly buying up the LiPo batteries and currently have one for each PF train I run on a regular basis and a couple that haven't been installed yet (seven total). I even converted one to red using the red Battery Box part from 3677 for my Shortened 3677 MOD Locomotive.
