No, (20/2)-13=0 and (22/2)-13=0. The Row reduction is calculated before the SP reduction.
-
Yep, the designer said that he added it for fun as his coffee mug.

Am I missing something? JohnPaul's got SP: 13. All he has to do is stay in the Back Row, and neither enemy (Levels 20 and 22) can harm him....oh, I see, the Burned effect.

"Excellent"I sign myself and Dyric up for the Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory, with myself as Party Leader. "While we wait, would you be interested in any of these items I'm selling? Perhaps some Deadly Venom is appropriate for a Rogue such as yourself?"

Thanks, DC. It's good to be back building for Historica. Thanks. Whenever I build medieval, I try to capture that cramped feel without doing it in a negative, crowded way.

They still have it, just nerfed. Special Guard used to be a 100% chance of success.

It was up; I saw it and got to read it, and then I couldn't find it after I left the page. In response to kabel, I thought that Challenge V sounded easier than III or IV, but that might just be because I don't like building magic-related things like crystal shrines or elementals. I'm not sure if the Guild Leaders meant to post the challenge at time it was up or not, so I won't say any more about it.

Roleplayers will tell you that if your character doesn't understand the language in-game, then you can't know what they're saying, but it's not actually against the rules. Players like myself will just use a translator to figure out what they're saying, and use any out-of-character knowledge that we can to our advantage.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Brickdoctor replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This has been discussed so many times, and ultimately it's a matter of personal preference, but as far as accuracy is concerned, the general consensus is that the LEGO lightsaber is based on the props of Luke's and Obi-Wan's 'sabers, because of the ribbed grip (as rings just above the area gripped by the minifig hand), the shape of the pommel, and the emitter that's wider than the grip. (which also allows for the insertion of the blade without deviating from the basic design of the inspiration) Based on that, the ringed end should be the emitter end, while the bumpy end should be the pommel. (though it is worth noting that that requires the minifig to hold the hand closer to the pommel than the emitter, which is not how people hold swords with one hand) The earlier LEGO advertisements show the bumpy end up, while later LEGO catalogs depict the ringed end up. So, in response to your question, it does technically kind of matter which way 'round, but it is really a matter of personal preference. -
Awesome, thanks. I used the Advanced Search and found them on page 207.

I could've sworn that there used to be pictures in the Library showing the important NPCs of each house, but I can't find them anymore. Does anyone know where they went?
-
Do minimaps count? I don't even want to know how many times I've manually updated those.
-
Yeah, it's just a renamed mechanic taken from the Poisoned effect, so that it would make more sense in the quest. As such, there's no definition of the Damage dealt, so QMs can change that according to the strength of the heroes.

Really nice work, Adho. This model's definitely got an Architecture feel, with the way you've used tiles to widen areas and cover up certain areas while showing a good amount of studs. Except that that model looks ugly compared to this one. Hopefully this one won't get spammed by "You stole my idea!" comments on CUUSOO, like some other Jedi Temple projects did. Make sure you specify that it's an Architecture project when you upload it, Adho.

We discourage members, especially new members and members who aren't that active or don't have many posts, from advertising and encouraging other EB members to join their sites. You may place a link in your signature (provided that such a link complies with the regulations regarding signatures), but please don't make off-topic posts in threads to advertise your site. Thanks. Thanks, Ecclesiastes. Pneumatic tubing is one of my favorite elements (better than its cousin, flex tubing, in my opinion, for its ability to be stretched and bent without requiring effort to return it to its original form, provided it wasn't left in a position for too long). It's such a versatile piece, and you can stuff so many different pieces into its ends. I'm glad someone noticed that small bow used for the sign; I was originally going to include it in the box of bows, but, being Heroica-scaled, it looked out-of-place, and it looked like it was made of metal... and then I realized it would be perfect for the sign.

Avalonia Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
Brickdoctor replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
If the lighting was right and I got the exposure I was looking for, I just make a couple adjustments with Curves, erase any darker corners with a soft brush, and smooth out any paper edges from my backdrop that might be visible in the shadow by selecting it and running some Gaussian Blurs. Otherwise, I use the Magic Wand to get a rough selection, clean it up with the Lasso, and use the selection to create a Layer Mask, with another layer beneath it filled with white, and finish my editing on the mask, if needed. (this is in Photoshop, but you can achieve the same result using Paint.NET or GIMP, though Paint.NET lacks support for layer masks) -
Seeing Dyric sitting by himself, and having nothing to do, I approach him. "Master Rone, would you be interested in joining me for a short trip to the Fields of Glory?" Also realizing that I've not sold many of my consumables, I revise the list: Selling: Deadly Venom - Use on a weapon to make it cause the Badly Poisoned-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one battle. A Badly Poisoned enemy loses 10 Health each turn. 35 Gold (you save 15 Gold compared to Portia's price) Grand Tonic - Restores 15 Ether to the target. 20 Gold (you save 10 Gold compared to Portia's price) Soma - Causes the Blessed-effect, allowing the target to recover 3 Health at the end of each round for the duration of one battle. 30 Gold (you save 15 Gold compared to Portia's price) White Marksman's Hat (suitable for anyone, there is a ⅙ chance wearer's strikes will instantly kill a Flying monster, headwear) Offer Lover's Locket (suitable for anyone, protects from the Enamored effect) 30 Gold (you save 10 Gold compared to Fabian's price for a comparable artifact) Quiver of Poisoning (suitable for Rangers, permanent Poisoned effect to all attacks, backwear) Offer

Thanks, Legonardo. This is one instance in which I'm glad I took the time off to work on Heroica instead. I used to avoid interiors whenever I built buildings, preferring to build the whole building without the cutaway such that the interior couldn't be seen. With the indoor scenes in Heroica, I started building more interiors. (as sets which didn't have exteriors, of course, but the practice was good) Thanks, Z.

Depends on how they need to be attached and how much space I have.

Using the SNOTed tiles for the walls; the grooves between tiles is greater than those between stacked bricks, so the stonework looks better.

Albion: the capital city of Avalonia
Brickdoctor replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
It's been nine months since I signed up, and I've finally finished my Bowyer. -
It's been nearly a year since I first signed up for the Albion builds (though I initially signed up to build the Fletcher), and I've finally finished something. Now that I've finished my trilogy of Heroica quests, I've got the bricks available to build some Historica buildings. (this wall technique uses up a lot of tiles quickly, and I use the same technique for Heroica sets) The building should extend a little more backwards; I wanted to do a cutaway and show the interior, but I also didn't want to crowd the space, so I left out a couple things like a second bed and a fireplace so that I could concentrate on the furnishings related to this building's purpose as a bowyer's house and shop. ~~~~~ Built on the corner of the road leading to the second gatehouse of Albion's inner sanctum, the Albion Bowyer is the capital city's only source of bows crafted by the Forestmen native to the Mystic Isles. On the stone-deprived Isle of Bricdocton, a building with stonework like this would be a luxury for the nobility. In Avalonia's capital, its cost was only a small portion of the profits of these two Forestman bowyers, whose high-quality bows are greatly in demand for both military and sport and hunting purposes. The Forestmen can often be seen outside, testing their bows and demonstrating them to pedestrians and potential buyers. These bows are crafted with traditional Forestman techniques, producing weapons rivaling those of the elves. The bows are made with hand-selected wood imported from the Mystic Isles. They're typically made only after they have been ordered by a customer, every bow being unique, but a few bows are kept for potential buyers to test and to sell those who demand instant gratification. ~~~~~ Finished September of 2012; C&C welcome. Thanks for looking.

It should be noted that at least thirty of the pages in Q30 were from the final battle, so those can be applied to Q31 as well, bringing my total up to around 271, for an average of just over 90 pages per quest.

Wouldn't a "Like" button improve the forum
Brickdoctor replied to Vindicare's topic in Forum Information and Help
If we allowed that, some members would just run wild spamming thumbups, sending their post counts through the roof and not contributing anything to the discussion.
