  1. The layout of the MOC and the use of space is fantastic, especially the incorporation the mini waterfall and the bridge. Neat usage of the mudguard pieces on the prince's dining area. All in all a very successful effort and I'd love to see more castles from you
  2. A trip to Target today netted me a Titanium Command Rig for only 17 dollars ($50 clearance plus leftover gift card). It was the last one on the shelf too
  3. I'm impressed with your decision to add in the rock background. It gives a completely different mood in terms of presentation, and it feels like you're actually there in the scene! The rock monsters must have had a blast...from the dynamite (sorry for the bad pun)
  4. This brings back a lot of memories from years ago. Indeed it would be great to see this out of real bricks, and possibly with some custom decals. Great build, I will be looking forward to your future installments.
  5. The dormers look great! As do the sweets Certainly looks like it'll be a hot product when it comes out.
  6. The detailing is unbelievably rich, and absolutely impeccable. The staircase especially flows so well with the entire model! Love the flooring too. A true work of art
  7. The back end of it looks nice. The blue goes well with the white in my opinion, but I think it would be cool to see this in different color schemes too.
  8. Thanks you two for commenting. That certainly would be interesting to try
  9. In the past, I always used to take an interest in one particular theme and then try to complete it. Unfortunately this practice caused me to miss out on many other cool sets from other themes. Bionicle used to be the theme that I tried to collect in its entirety, but around 2005 or so is when I began to get more sets from System themes instead. Nowadays, I try to buy sets from a diverse range of themes and get a "taste" of mostly everything, instead of focusing on one theme and buying every set in it. I tend to lean towards LEGO's own themes rather than licensed themes (with the exception of the Star Wars theme, which I am an avid fan of). However, my decision for buying a particular set or not is heavily based on how much use the pieces in the set have to me, as well as the kinds of minifigs included.
  10. It dawned on me recently that maybe it would be a good idea to tackle the sphere once more out of LEGO - my past attempts were not all that successful. I decided to take on this challenge by doing a little exercise and creating something simple without using a computer for assistance: And because I wanted to do a little bit of animation at the time: Any constructive criticism would greatly be appreciated. flickr
  11. This is fantastic! The dilapidated effect is rendered flawlessly - the cracks on the side of the wall and the rubble along the ground look phenomenally realistic. The leaning tower truly makes this MOC stand out and adds a completely new dimension to it. The minifigs along with all the little "Easter eggs" add a nice touch of humor too Beautiful work
  12. Quite a convincing effect! Great application of transparent pieces. The vortex was pulled off very well and really does a nice job of depicting the intensity and dynamic of the scene. I also commend your decision to use a transparent base plate, as it does help give off the impression that the rock formations are mountaintops.
  13. This I found to be extremely peculiar: A round 1x1 plate literally inside of a thin 1x4 liftarm. The glitch works with all of the thin liftarms, provided that they have round holes in them. Here's more: The round 1x1 plates can be placed into "thick" connectors and liftarms, but not the round 1x1 brick. MOC: Funksway?

The clean, streamlined design is very appealing. I don't know if it was intentional but even subtle details like the way the bricks are stacked to create the floor is an accurate representation of floorboards in real life. Excellent from every aspect!
  15. Lots of great details packed into a small area - definitely a great display of interior design with LEGO! The colors especially go well together.
  16. Of course: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/rahkshi8000/LDDOfficialSets/850/850-1_fork_lift.lxf
  17. I noticed as I was building #850-1 Fork Lift in LDD today that there seemed to be a glitch between the connection of two plates as well as a gear related issue. While the program denotes that the 2x8 Technic plate and the 2x3 plate are indeed connected, there obviously is a gap between the two plates: It even shows the studs disappearing upon snapping the plate into place (but I assume this occurs in a normal connection anyway): Ultimately, the reason why the 2x8 Technic plate can't go in all the way is because the crown gear won't go down enough to touch the normal 24 teeth gear:
  18. Thanks a ton for the great pictures again, LegoDad42. My mind was blown away at all the in-store displays - truly a magnificent sight! The interior design of the store is phenomenal, and that Pick a Brick wall is indeed a force to be reckoned with. And finally a store that actually has the collectable minifigs in stock Grand opening sounded like a blast. The LEGO Topiary is filled with amazing models and building the giant apple must have been a fun experience. Can't wait to go there myself!
  19. There were numerous times where I tried to incorporate water into aquarium-like creations I used to make when I was younger (though the water always used to leak through the bricks). I also used to play with some of my sets in the water, but one time that unfortunately resulted in me losing a zip line handle to the drain.
  20. Truly a wonderful representation of Naboo architecture. The PoP dome really does a nice job of accenting and finishing off the structure. It's also an impressive battle droid display
  21. I was actually planning to head down there sometime soon, although I was unaware of the fact that it was already open! It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your son, especially if it was your first visit. The displays are quite impressive, and I really like how some of them embrace the cultural diversity found in the Big Apple. But we mustn't forget about that packed Pick a Brick wall But all-in-all, the store seems like it has a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Thank you for sharing your experience and pictures with us
  22. An impressive milestone for the Eurobricks community! Great job to all of the members and staff who made this community outstanding over the years. Cheers for a prosperous future
  23. I read an article several years ago about how the LEGO Mindstorms RCX was used to capture a petty thief who had kept on stealing mail from someone's mailbox. Although the notion sounds silly when considering the fact that much more sophisticated technology is available, it would be somewhat humorous to try and use LEGO Mindstorms for law enforcement. Perhaps one "official" application of this, albeit in a fantastical way, was in that old online RCX game "Robohunter II." I doubt that using an RCX car to spy on suspected criminals would be the authorities' first tool choice but it was a cool concept to explore. It probably would be more appropriate on a household level.
  24. I wonder why they put it in that category But thank you for pointing that out Aanchir. I have made the appropriate edits to my last post.
  25. To all of us, LEGO is much more than a child's toy. It is a hobby that brought us all here to Eurobricks, a hobby that has united people from all around the world. LEGO may be related to some of your careers and vocations. Many of us treat the LEGO brick as an art medium, whether to convey a message across or just to create something aesthetically beautiful. Of course, none of us can forget our childhood memories that LEGO played a huge role in In the past decades however, LEGO has proven to be used as a tool for innovation and educational purposes. One notable use of LEGO has been within the education industry, specifically in science and technology education. But even before a kid goes to school, LEGO can be used to help develop motor skills and hand coordination from a very early age. At early childhood, kids who do play with LEGO are learning how to manipulate materials at an early age, and that kinesthetic learning is further reinforced by the incremental advances in the LEGO Education line as the kid gets older (WeDo, Mindstorms). Within the business sector, LEGO Serious Play has encouraged and fostered creative thinking and team building. It also creates opportunities for better management and decision making. To name an example, Google is probably one of the more well-known companies that utilize Serious Play. Seeing as what LEGO has to offer in both business and education, what other possibilities could the brick hold? How have you seen LEGO being used in a way previously unknown to you before? How can we as LEGO enthusiasts strive to find new, innovative, and creative ways to use LEGO in an application that benefits society?
