  1. Thanks - I'd been experimenting with and without flash, and see there is a fair bit of reflection, especially on the base. Will find a way to bring more light into the photo area next time.
  2. Thanks all for the positive comments This took a surprising number of grey bricks for its size It also made me think a bit about camera perspective - I tried focusing on the front for the "running" shot. The young man is Kelstro, my sigfig and future Master of Riddles. His story will continue in future builds! (so death isn't on the cards just yet )
  3. Into the Labyrinth | Zeussoid | Nocturnus
  4. Long ago, before the wizard Revolword, before the wars and elemental monsters, a young man travelled to Nocturnus. He climbed and trudged across low hills in the heat of the day. The red rag tied round his head became damp with sweat as he laboured over one rise, then another. Only once the sun was inching down over the horizon did the man begin to thread through scuffs of dust and rubble. Pressing on, ruined walls lay scattered all around, tufts of grass thrusting through cracks in the stone. The crumbling, ancient walls loomed higher and higher. He struck a light to ward off the darkness. There was no straight path any more - piled stones blocked the path forward, twisting and turning. It was a maze. No, more than a maze. The Kel’ra labyrinth. He could barely see over the walls, now. Ahead a forked junction, and the glimmer of torchlight that was not his own. “Hello?” A wet, heavy breathing emanated from around the corner. “Is someone there?” Then the minotaurs lurched into view, shaggy-haired and laden with slabs of muscle. “Riddle.” A low, ominous voice, dark and bestial. The young man turned and ran.
  5. Browsed through Kabel's index last night - there really are some awesome builds in there. Some of the defensive structures in particular. Mind blown
  6. Well I liked all of those entries. Was surprised to see the voting leaning heavily in one direction. Of course you have to participate to find out which it is
  7. That's a great explanation, Gideon. This (proper image-linking) is what I was failing to do in my keyboard thumpings last night. Next time...
  8. Category A - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=90815 Just in time!
  9. Kelstro, Master of Riddles, is the guest of Lord Sulfuro Saffron, an industrious entrepreneur living in the foothills beyond the Kelra Labyrinth. Kelstro is admiring the fine yellow house when a terrific noise erupts outside. "YEEEAARRRGGGHHH! Come out, Nocturnus dog, and face the might of Borak Blackbeard!" Kelstro shuffles over to the balcony. "Hello?" http://www.flickr.co...N03/11969076253 "I am Borak, scourge of the Black Spire! None can stand before my wicked sword and spiked mace. Face me and die!" Kelstro blinks, then overturns his cup of wine, splashing the Black Spire warrior. Borak splutters. "How DARE you, vile Nocturnus cur!? I will have your head for this! Come down and be torn asunder!" "I flicker and die here only to rise again elsewhere. I have brought help and harm since the dawn of man. Tamed I am a tool, yet handle me with care. - what am I?" The helmeted figure crinkles his brow. No time to answer 'fire' before Kelstro drops a torch down off the balcony, igniting Borak's wine-soaked clothes. http://www.flickr.co...N03/11969510384
  10. Kelstro, Master of Riddles, has declared for Lord impossible-to spell Ssilyrrlith. Onward Team Nocturnus.
  11. Thanks zC! Mostly I'm trying to absorb people's cool techniques right now, but should have time to put something up in Challenge 1.
  12. Alright, so I am well keen to get involved with Historica. Even though the amazing building skills of the members on here scare me. Even though my collection is tiny. I will have a go --- It lies in the cave and down the well, Makes not a sound, makes not a smell Some men fear, some embrace it, And even the stars are written against it. "What is it?" "I don't know," the boy said with a scowl. "It is darkness." Kelstro, Master of Riddles, moves through the night of Nocturnus, his plans as yet unknown. It is said he riddled the Minotauri of the western labyrinth with such skill that they linger around him, watching and listening, hoping to learn his tricks. Rumours say the elusive Kelstro is loyal to Lord Ssilyrrlith. If he is loyal to anyone beyond himself. --- Future builds will feature a proper camera and lighting… hopefully
  13. Really impressed by the extra depth to add those underground caves. And the detail inside the wall cutaway is intense as well.
  14. Liking the review, and the vibrant colour on those Orcs. Just need a bit of time to get over how USD 19.99 = EU 19.99 = GBP 19.99 as far as Lego is concerned. I'm sure this is a common complaint, but hey, I'm new
  15. I like a medieval castle, or a LOTR/Hobbit film, as much as the next guy, but it's cool to see a thread where a different historic theme gets some love.
